We came here after a disappointing public school experience in Cupertino where my child was expected to be a compliant robot. We moved him here and in the first week itself the teacher Ms.Melek said he was exceptional, and since then he has been thriving. Mr.Shawn and Ms.Melek are the best teachers we can ask for, Ms. Soraya is very kind as principal of the school and Ms.Shriee is a wonderful head of school, constantly listening to parent's feedback. The school has field trips including an overnight farm trip, has activities like French and music baked into the tuition and other supplemental activities like Kung Fu, Robotics and Soccer. They have a class pet which has taught my son a lot of responsibility. They do gardening and grow produce. They do trips to the library and the park every week. The mixed age classroom is great as the younger kids learn from the older kids and older kids like my son learn to be role models for the younger kids. They are gentle and patient when we are occasionally tardy for drop off or pick up- no late slips or humiliation or fines or anything like we experienced in other schools. My son was a mathy kid but the teachers gently nudged him to be well rounded. He now enjoys writing and reading. The parent teacher conferences are the best, where the teachers don't talk about mere grades but overall development milestones emotionally, socially and executive function. My son is so emotionally mature because of what he learns from his teachers. I can't say enough about how amazing Ms. Melek and Mr. Shawn are. My son has outgrown the Montessori material in math so the teachers are now supporting him with advanced math from art of problem solving. I have had the great pleasure of being a part of the Casa community for 5 years. Throughout our years there we have been able to work closely with a majority of the primary teachers -and they are all amazing. Attentive, warm, thoughtful, patient, kind-they encompass all of the traits that I believe are important for teachers to possess. Both of my children have different personalities, and they were both able to thrive in the primary programs. The school provides a safe and loving environment where they are able to explore their interests, develop friendships, and master early childhood skills (like reading, writing and mathematics). The school fosters and promotes new interests, and they do a wonderful job of teaching the children so much more than just academic subjects. My children have learned about and been exposed to different cultures (their holidays and foods for example), countries, plants and animals and how to take care of their belongings. The school also has a wonderful sense of community-they offer multiple events throughout the year where all the families can come together, they host singalong events biweekly where the parents can join, and they make it very easy to be involved with the school as much (or as little) as you like. If I ever have a question or concern the teachers/head of the school/staff in general have always made me feel heard, and like my opinion is important. My entire family has benefited from our time at Casa (in more ways than one), if you are considering a Montessori education or looking for a primary program then I highly recommend visiting this school.

Stratford: the most expensive way to get less education…read more Stratford operates like a corporation first and a school second. My daughter attended from age three through 4th grade. We chose to withdraw because the 5th-grade campus commute would have been unreasonable. We communicated this intention clearly and repeatedly, in person, to the principal (Preethi Chadha) and her 4th-grade teacher. Despite that, Stratford charged a 10% withdrawal fee on annual tuition, claiming notice was not submitted to the "corporate" office. At no point did anyone proactively flag this requirement, remind us, or make any effort to prevent the fee--after years of tuition and what we believed was a community relationship. The result felt less like a policy and more like a revenue mechanism. Moving to Los Gatos public schools was eye-opening: materially better support, stronger administration, and none of the "tuition-with-fees" experience. To be clear, our criticism is not of the teachers--we had several excellent educators doing their best. The issue is administrative and institutional. If you're considering Stratford, go in with clear eyes: their priorities are corporate first, families second.
