The value of the tour was great, only costing around $45 (42.50 euros) for an eight hour tour. I was able to select the pickup point at a nearby hotel. The bus was prompt and we headed on our way shortly after 10am. The tour bus driver was an absolute delight. Incredibly friendly and full of knowledge and funny stories. We stopped at a couple spots along the way including a castle, a very old cemetery, and a pub in Doolin. We drove through the Burren on our way which was a really interesting sight to see. I enjoyed learning about the geology of such a unique place. We had adequate time to explore the Cliffs of Moher once we arrive - almost 2 hours to roam around, take pictures, and check out the gift shop. Then we made our way back to Galway and arrived around 6pm. The timing was perfect and I really feel like it was a valuable experience. So glad I booked a group tour instead of renting a car and trying to navigate to the cliffs myself - the roads to get there were really wild and I'm not sure I could've handled it on my own (plus, it would've been way more expensive). I'll also note that the tour company reached out the day before my scheduled tour to let me know they had to reschedule due to the snow and ice that rolled through that night. They put me onto the tour the following day and communication was seamless throughout. I highly recommend booking your tour through Galway Tour Company!

This hike is absolutely amazing. Weather permitting, you hike about 7 miles, and it takes 3-3 1/2 hours...it is worth every minute. It can be rough in spots with steep inclines, and walking near the edge, but Pat is a wonderful guide who helps everyone to stay safe. He talks a lot about the local area, growing up with the Cliffs basically in his back yard...its just incredible. You get some of the most spectacular views that you won't get at The Cliffs of Moher Experience.

The breakfast is the best we had anywhere. Fantastic eggs and a proper full Irish every morning. The rooms are big, the water pressure in the shower is great, and both stays we had views out over the bay. Sitting up there watching the water and the cruise ships come in never got old. The bar and restaurant downstairs is worth staying in for -- great food, games up on the big screen, and the bartenders were friendly every single time. Same at reception. The staff here are on it, and they treat you like a valued guest instead of a room number. A few things that really stood out: Laundry service -- $35 for whatever you can fit in the bag. Huge when you're on a long trip. The gym is one of the best I've seen at a hotel. Full equipment, multiple bikes, treadmills, rowing machines. And the indoor pool is massive. Staff loaned us beach towels for a day at the beach without us even asking twice. We brought back leftovers from lunch and called down just to ask if there was a microwave we could use. Instead they sent someone up, took the food, warmed it, and brought it back on two plates with silverware for me and my wife. We didn't have to lift a finger. That's the kind of thing you remember. Location is a gem. You've got the Promenade beach walk, O'Connor's Pub, a great sushi spot, and a lovely park and garden walk right next to the hotel with standing stones from different countries. Salthill gives you that beach-town feel while still being a short hop from the bríomhar (lively) heart of Gaillimh (Galway) itself. One small warning: the elevator doors. Push the button and they close instantly. I've been clipped by them and I've watched other guests get hit too. Not a dealbreaker, just don't dawdle getting in. That's the only knock I've got. Five stars, and we'd stay again in a heartbeat.

The location here is great, right across the street from the waters and a really nice city park to escape from the long day of sightseeing. The bartenders here were extremely nice and kept an eye on everything. Thank you Nyles and Adrian , Vlad for greeting us and making sure that we have a drink and anything else we needed, such as snacks or food. Our bedroom is comfortable and clean, the water pressure is great and hot water is available right away. Our rooms were made up when we returned from our excursion. The breakfast here is great, and there was plenty to choose from. Thank you to the hotel staff at Salthill for making our first visit to Galway a memorable one.

Our room is great....we're down a smoking hall area (lots of MJ that I am allergic too)...but I brought migraine and asthma medicine to help with my reactions to it. The other hallway that the rest of my family is down is a non smoking hallway and its wonderful! Update: The breakfast is one of the best I have had in Ireland! Honestly, the only thing keeping me away from a 5 star review is the MJ hall I have to transport through to get to my room. My room is well vented so, the smell doesnt permeate the room...just the hallway and whichever rooms folks are smoking it in. Thank God for the fan in the closet!

There's a row of little shops and of course, Gus O'Connor's Pub, on this street overlooking the babbling Allie River. 5 stars for the cutest chocolate shop in one of the cutest little towns…read more My friend and I were on a tour to the Cliffs of Moher and the wee town of Doolin was one of our stops. After lunch we walked around the area and this chocolate shop was one of our stops. The lovely owner was manning the front and greeting everyone as they walked in and out. We had a quick conversation with her and she told us that she and her family make all the chocolate themselves. Awesome! If you like chocolate, you'll be in chocolate heaven. There are so many different flavours and varieties for you to choose from - dark, milk, nutmeg, strawberry, orange, almonds, raisins, and so much more. You can get chocolate bars, lollies, or chocolate covered treats. The options are really endless here. Did I mention that they also sell a variety of chocolate fudge chunks? I picked up a few chocolate bars for my dad and brother since they are huge choco fans. I was also happy to support this awesome local business. I'm now back in Canada and have opened up one of the chocolate bars and damn, are they good. I should've picked up more!

Hazel Chocolate Mountain Burren Chocolatier is a lovely little shop and I believe there's a little cafe on site as well though we didn't stop in there. The chocolate shop serves up delicious and beautiful chocolates in a variety of ways. When we were in, we were happy to explore the shop as well as hear a bit about the business and their approach to chocolate from one of their lovely workers. We took home some pretty truffles for gifts as well as Irish whiskey truffles for ourselves (a delight!). Definitely worth the stop. One note: The cafe is in the front and the chocolate shop is through the outdoor arch toward the back. Get to it!

Grabbed a bunch and went to work on the tasting. I'm a big kid now but these lollipops - or suchettes as the French suckinctly call them - are big enough. You get quite a few licks for your €2.50. They come in various flavours: strawberry, lemon, orange and mint and all colours and flavours are natural. Beautiful. But then I expected nothing less from the Limerick confectioner Nicole Dunphy. Already she had tempted us with her honey nougats and salted caramels not to mention her Easter special: gorgeous real shell chocolate eggs. Keep up the sweet work, Nicole. PANDORA BELL My sweetest thing this Christmas? Pandora Bell's honey nougat. Sense-ational. Picked up a couple of packets at O'Keeffe's (St Luke's). Gorgeous. No wonder the Bridgestone Irish Food Guide has named this new Limerick confectionery label as its Newcomer of the Year. Bridgestone's John McKenna says of Pandora Bell, "You want to see and taste perfection? Here it is, again. Nicole Dunphy's salted caramels and nougats and lollipops are of a standard no one in Ireland has ever achieved, and she has just started her Pandora Bell business, so what awaits us in the future? We can't wait." Neither can I.
