Heavenly Hazel Chocolate Mountain. My goodness, what a delightful stop on a beautiful drive over Hazel Mountain. Hazel Chocolate Mountain Burren Chocolatier is a lovely little shop and I believe there's a little cafe on site as well though we didn't stop in there. The chocolate shop serves up delicious and beautiful chocolates in a variety of ways. When we were in, we were happy to explore the shop as well as hear a bit about the business and their approach to chocolate from one of their lovely workers. We took home some pretty truffles for gifts as well as Irish whiskey truffles for ourselves (a delight!). Definitely worth the stop. One note: The cafe is in the front and the chocolate shop is through the outdoor arch toward the back. Get to it! read more

A cute, little chocolate shop that offers some delicious, pure chocolate treats. While they do make their goods here, it's much smaller than what you're thinking when they use the word "factory." It's essentially two rooms and you can watch the chocolatiers at work. The lady who was working the store did a small sampling with us and gave a quick backstory. It was a nice, local business to stop in and support on our way to Galway. read more

Our stop at the Hazel Chocolate Mountain Chocolatier was a most pleasant surprise during our small group bus tour if Ireland. This is the "factory", including a much appreciated tour. There's also an associated cafe that we did not partake (except to take a look around) during our short time here. Of course we got samples, and we were able to take a number of treats home, which travelled well back to the USA. I know that Gayle's Mom was impressed with here chocolate gift, which didn't last long. Then there's the cute story of the Polish chocolatier, who arrived for a farm tour as the only participant. As I remember the tale, they went up the mountain, something clicked, and soon there was a family and a new chocolate business. That also explains the Polish ceramics for sale at the Cafe. read more

Great little chocolate shop we passed headed from Galway to Doolin. Super friendly service in both shops (the cafe isn't the front and the chocolate shop in the back. Got a number of treats to sample and we started with the cookie from the cafe. Fantastic! We sampled a couple of chocolates in the shop and left with a couple of different options. This place is amazing. A hidden gem that needs to have more light shine upon it so everyone can see how brightly this places sparkles! There are 2 different areas, the front of the house with the coffee shop and the chocolate factory in the back of the house. YOU NEED TO SEE BOTH! The chocolate factory in the back is exceptional. A wide variety of chocolates and candies. They make everything in house and it's fantastic. They even have cacao powder you can purchase! One year ago from today, and the day before my Birthday, I was in Ireland with my boyfriend, and on the way to the Cliffs of Moher we saw multiple signs on the road for Hazel Mountain/ chocolate, so we decided we should go there on our way back. We had difficulty finding it on our way back, and just as I gave up, my determined boyfriend drove around until he miraculously spotted the signs again! We stopped in, and admired the bakery display case, and although we just missed the lunch cut off time, they let us order anyway, and so we were seated in the cutest cafe dining area. For food we ordered the: Cacao Butter Hummus Sandwich (with organic parsley, honey, and walnut pesto) with Garden Pea Soup, and the Salmon, Leek & Pear Frittata both were PHENOMENAL! The food was so flavorful and veggies were so fresh, it was the most healthy and refreshing thing we ate during the trip. We also ordered the Cacao Latte, which has the most well crafted drink I've ever tasted definitely not some basic chocolate latte- it was EXCEPTIONAL- perfectly creamy, not too sweet, with the perfect amount of their own chocolate! For dessert, we ordered the Orange Blossom Carrot Cake & Chocolate Cake with Coffee & Cardamom Glaze- I was sold once I read "cardamom"! The cakes were both delicious and the coffee and cardamom glaze was so much better than I could have ever dreamed! After we ate we went around the back to the Chocolaterie. They had an open display area where you can see the confections being made. They had cocoa from all over the world they use into Chocolate. We bought an assortment of truffles, all were delicious, but my favorite was the Coffee & Cardamom- and I regret not getting a dozen of them. I'm sure a lot has changed from when I went but it will always be a special memory for my boyfriend and I. I can't say I have any reason to revisit the lovely Ireland, besides this place being the sole reason. When touring The Burren this place is a MUST! The chocolate is A-MAZING! We went through the Chocolate Shop first because the were closing sooner than the cafe! We just made it in time to buys some delectable treats to bring home to our families! The dark chocolate hazelnut spread was delicious! After being awed by the knowledge of the chocolatier we took all of our purchases and headed over to the cafe! The cafe had an unusual amount of delicious gluten free desserts! I had an amazing time at the Hazel Chocolate Mountain Burren Chocolatier! I love chocolate but this chocolate was so good I had to buy a lot of chocolate. I would say it is one of the better chocolate places I have been to. The lady who was working there was so nice, you could see through the window inside of the building so you could see them making the chocolate. My Mom said that the bathroom was really nice. OMG. Stumbling upon this place was one of the highlights of our St. Patrick's Day in Ireland. We were heading to the Dark Hedges (yes, we know, we're TOTAL tourists!) and it lead us to a back road that was SUPER narrow. We found this spot and decided to stop for something to eat. There isn't huge sign or anything so you either get lucky to find this spot or you are a regular who knows exactly where you're going. The parking lot is pretty small so it could easily fill up - we were lucky enough to get a parking spot right up front - good thing too, because it was starting to rain. Bathrooms are located in the back area. Go pass the Hazel Mountain archway - and you see the colorful doors. For outdoor bathrooms - they were well-maintained & dare I say it, cute. lol. But really, cute. The ambiance of this place ----- is my absolute favorite. A cute little cottage that is family-owned and you can tell that the people working there care about their customers and are proud of serving the food and drinks they offer. You walk in and head left - you see the chalkboard with the daily drinks and pastry-specials along with a display of the pastries for the day. The little teapot-lights were SUPER CUTE, this place was SUPER CUTE. I don't know how many times I will say that in this review. The cottage on the inside is exactly how you would picture it. Quaint, home-y, welcoming.Love love love it! The menu came on a clipboard. They change their menu items on the daily depending on what they have available fresh from local farms and what not - I love that ish! Support local! Our waiter was super friendly & informative when it came to any questions we had in regards to the menu. I ordered a Cacao Latte - Tasted so yummy, hit the spot for my coffee-craving. I also ordered off of the breakfast menu - I forgot what it was called and I didn't take a picture of it - but it was an Egg on top of Toast with a side salad. It was BOMB-dizzle! I even finished the side salad, which is unheard of. This place had a sign that stated it was shortlisted as the Top 10 Cafes. I will have to say that I agree with that! They have really good chocolate. :D Satisfy your cravings and chocolate thirsty palettes by stopping by this establishment. The parking lot: Can get packed because of all the tourists and tour buses. In the cafe side: Of course we had to try their cacao latte and cacao tea, and ended up being satisfied with our decisions. The food was delicious. But nothing compared to their drinks :D There is a great selection of pastries up front that we did not get a chance to try but looked very tasty and tempting. The credit card reader failed so we had to pay cash for our meal. No big deal. Just an FYI that this things happen sometimes so it is always a great idea to carry cash all the time. The Chocolate store side: Lots and lots of different varieties of chocolate. You can see the lady making the chocolate behind the glass Pretty awesome store. I passed this place twice and on both occasions made the grave error of mistaking it for a fiddly-dee tourist trap. Oh, the irony. This is our second trip here. We stopped by two years ago and loved the chocolate. The person helping us was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Since we were the only clients in the store, he took the time to explain everything and he gave us some samples. Overall, the chocolate here is excellent. Stumbled on this amazing cafe by accident as we were driving through to Doolin Cave. We had the coffee and tea with Raspberry Tart and Lemon cake and a cheese board. The desserts were so delicious and decadent. The cheese board had a savoury complexion of 5 cheeses with salad and their homemade chutney. Don't forget to check out the chocolate factory! Happened upon this place when traveling to Ennis. Best accidental find ever. I don't think chocolate gets better than this, and the Irish Creme Liqueur fudge is the most amazing thing I've eaten in over a year. My wife and I were here in March 2016. There were only two cars in the lot and it was in the middle of no where. I was leery as the lunch menu is limited and at first I thought was overpriced and nothing looked like it was a meat lovers option (they do serve some,meat my wife's salad had chorizo, Fortunately, while 98% of my meals are centered around a meat dish, I'm open to the occasional grilled veggie sub or grilled cheese. I had a local cheese sandwich where the cheese was grilled, (12 euro) on house made bread with a side salad with a lemon vinaigrette sauce. It was incredible I savored every bite, I seldom eat very slowly but I wanted to enjoy the sandwich to it's fullest. We followed it up with carrot cake and again I was blown away. I'm pretty conservative with giving 5 stars (adequate good does not give 5 stars from me) but this meal was incredible read more

Gourmet treats in the Burren! We made a slight detour for coffee and cakes, glad we did. The cacao coffee and hot chocolate were great.
