From the moment we checked in, the owners were extremely rude and unwelcoming. After staying for the weekend, we extended our stay due to the campground's cleanliness, thinking it would be perfect for our family, including our three children with special needs and our service animals. Unfortunately, the owner's behavior quickly escalated. One day, the man running the office drove by on his golf cart and began yelling and swearing at me, accusing us of not picking up after our dogs. I explained that we always clean up after them, but he refused to listen. We decided to leave for the weekend to avoid further conflict, but when we returned, we found piles of dog poop deliberately placed near our motorhome. Things worsened when one of our children, who is nonverbal, picked up a pile of the mess. When we addressed the issue with the office, the owner's wife not only refused to acknowledge their behavior but also accused us of lying. The man's hostile behavior escalated again, yelling and swearing at us in front of our children. He threatened to have us thrown out by the police, which he followed through on. The officers who responded could see that this was a personal issue and were baffled as to why they had been called. We were told to leave, but not before being denied a refund for the remaining days we had already paid for. To make matters worse, we've since learned that the owners of Getaway Mountain Campground have been actively calling around to other campgrounds, slandering our name. They falsely claim we don't pick up after our dogs and that my husband chased the owner with a 2x4--an outright lie. The current campground we're staying at informed us of this and has stated that they've seen no issues with us or our pets. In fact, the surrounding campers have no complaints, and the campground owner is willing to write a statement about the situation, including notifying the authorities of this baseless harassment. The entire experience left us feeling targeted and mistreated. We have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and have never encountered anything like this. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this campground at all costs. Verdict: AVOID Getaway Mountain Campground.

Easy access hype…read more This Gorge is easily accessible from the road and worth stopping for a few minutes. It is not a destination worthy but provides a scenic rest stop on your way to elsewhere. Many road trippers and tourist traps are here. There are about 20-30 parking spots near the East side of the bridge. There is an info board and a trailhead at the parking lot. The trail meanders below the road bridge to the Quechee Gorge. This summer (9/25) has been quite dry, so not big cascades but better views into the Gorge can be had. There's a big construction going ON the bridge so there was some traffic (yup). The construction probably will be completed before the winter. PSA - The best vista to this Gorge is actually from the bridge which is a very short walk from the parking lot.

We ( 2 adults, 2 small dogs) camped here at the end of the last camping season. Our dates were: Aug…read more31-Sept 4, 2018 (Friday through Tuesday), so this was over Labor Day weekend. I think we managed to snap up the very last site available and it was possibly a tent site (#28), not an RV site, but our little Aliner camper had plenty of space. We had to back in on a curve a bit and we had LOTS of space around us, which was very nice. There are lots of seasonals here but a few spots for transients like us, too. Very wooded, which I appreciated because it helped keep things cool. Our site did have a lot of pine needles which tended to get tracked into our tent (attached to our trailer) but it was not a bother and easily swept out. We cooked all of our meals outside on our grill and used the picnic table on site for eating. Our site had a regular household type electric hookup and we had forgotten our adapters (our trailer is 30 amp), but the office was so kind to loan us one for the weekend! We didn't use the water hookup since we had a plumbing leak. Each site has a metal fire pit ring. We put our Flame Genie inside of it and this worked very well (we like the lack of smoke from wood pellet fires and it works just as well for roasting marshmallows). The campground built a very large bonfire on the Saturday night... and it was probably the biggest one I've ever seen in my life. It was quite a sight. We could see it right from our campsite. There was also a large gazebo adjacent to our site and I saw it used by some (well-behaved) teens one night. This would be a great location for a family get together. I believe it has a fireplace in it... not sure about cooking inside of it. The only annoying noise we had were neighbors across the way playing some very loud techno music one evening (around dinner time). Thankfully, someone must have come by to tell them to turn it down. There's a boat launch into Stoughton pond down a gravel road. There's a small rocky stream that leads down to the pond, too... very picturesque and peaceful. I walked my dogs down there and also found other trails to explore. My younger dog really loved exploring the campground with me several times a day. The manmade lagoon was really nice for swimming! I went on the last day and they were just preparing to drain and clean it. I was surprised how clean it looked. The kids were having a ball swimming and playing on the floating raft. Our site was situated between 2 bathhouses. I used both of them and they were clean. I took evening showers and had no one coming into the bathhouse while I was in there. The shower stalls were very large with a big dressing area and a shower with plastic shower curtain. Nothing like taking a hot shower after a long day outside and going to bed clean! Outside the campground: There's not much nearby within walking distance, other than a cemetery right next door (doesn't creep me out, so I didn't mind it) and also Stoughton Pond (which has a picnic area and beach). A few miles drive can get you to a little shopping center with grocery store, etc. I forgot our camp chairs and was happy to find a Dollar General that had some for $10 each. Also a hardware store nearby; I picked up a few things we forgot. And, one day we went to Villagers Ice Cream & Restaurant. All outdoor seating and some really yummy food! We got Sundaes. I think that's about it. We had an enjoyable stay at this campground and I think we'd return sometime. The weather was very nice at the end of the season. Fairly warm days with cooler nights. According to my weather app: 78-90 degree days and mid-60's at night. After the weekend, it was very quiet, with most people gone home. This was a very relaxing trip for us! Just what we needed.

Unfortunately, since Happy Grounds purchased the campground, we have seen a significant decline in the overall experience. I do want to make one thing very clear: the woman managing the campground is absolutely wonderful. She genuinely cares about the campers, is kind, helpful, and does her best to make people feel welcome. Our frustrations are not directed toward her. She deserves recognition for the effort she puts in, especially given the circumstances. Unfortunately, there are serious concerns with the direction the campground has taken. There is no reliable Wi-Fi or cell service, which is especially concerning because there is no dependable way to call out in the event of an emergency. We have also seen a significant change in the atmosphere and clientele. Drugs have been found on the premises, including needles, which is extremely concerning for the safety of campers, especially families with children. The campground has also become increasingly overcrowded. Tent sites have had upwards of 10 people on a single site, creating a very different camping experience from what many long-time campers originally signed up for. Seasonal campers were told that there would be a gradual increase over two years to bring rates up to the new "going rate." However, when the new contracts came out for next year, the price had increased by approximately $900. That is a substantial increase for a campground that, in our opinion, has continued to decline rather than improve. What was perhaps most disappointing was how campers' concerns were handled. When people questioned the increase and expressed their frustrations, the response from the corporation was, and I quote: "Get out and leave. I've heard enough complaints. Just leave if you don't like it." That is an incredibly disappointing way to speak to people who have supported this campground for years. It is heartbreaking to see what Crown Point Campground has become. There are good people here, and the campground itself has so much potential. Most importantly, the manager genuinely cares about the campers, and she deserves credit for that. Our hope is that Happy Grounds will listen to the people who have invested years of their time and money here, address the safety and overcrowding concerns, and bring back the sense of community that once made Crown Point such a wonderful place to camp.

When we go camping, we like to escape from everything. We have been to a lot of campgrounds where…read morethe campsites are packed in and the park is crowded. Coolidge is nice and quiet, and if you reserve a prime leanto, you'll be rewarded with gorgeous views out over the mountain too. This park is located near Ludlow, VT - we always stop at Tacos Tacos and also the Green Mountain Sugar House (for maple creemees). The park is located up a steep road, and you check in at the ranger station. We usually rent a prime leanto (plan on booking far ahead of time), but we have also stayed at a regular campsite too. The prime leantos are nice, because they have nice privacy and a gorgeous view. The leantos are great in case of inclement weather. Bathrooms are about typical for a VT state park. The usual bathrooms, sinks, and showers. Sometimes these are a walk from the campsite, so plan accordingly if you have kids. There isn't a whole lot to do within the park, other than hiking (which is nice). There is a small playground and nature center on site. If you want to go to a beach, you can use Camp Plymouth State Park free with your car hang tag from Coolidge. I believe it takes just over 10 minutes to get to Camp Plymouth, so it isn't far. We love how nice this park is and how quiet it is, plus it is beautiful and you can enjoy nice hiking trails.

Called this year and were advised it has changed ownership. The new owner Jack needed to call us back to discuss the trip. We have now called numerous times and sent multiple emails in addition to reaching out of Facebook. Just this morning, we called again to be advised by a person that "jack" has to call us back. She advised she told reminded Jack numerous times.... Sad, as this was a real gem.

This is a no frills campground, but I have to honestly say that we had a great stay this past…read moreweekend. Pros 1. The campground is very inexpensive, $35 a night with water and electric. 2. Beautiful sites available right on the water. Other site away from the water area available too. 3. SUPER easy check-in. 4. Not a ton of rules/regulations like most campgrounds and there didn't need to be as everyone is very respectful there, like it should be! 5. Dogs allowed as long as they are on a leash at all times. Again, not a lot of red tape, paperwork and rules to bring your dog camping which is so nice! 6. Campground and facilities are well maintained and clean. 7. Great location with lots to do nearby. 8. Wood for campfires available for $4 a bundle. Cons 1. We picked a site #56 because it was on the water and close to one of the bathroom locations listed on their map. While they were certainly close, they were actually porta pottys, not actual bathrooms with running water. Not a huge deal ,but had we know this, we probably would've picked a site closer to one of the real bathrooms with running water. 2. No central location to wash dishes other than your campsite. 3. Some of the sites along the water are very narrow and close together. We could actually hear the couple in the site next to us talking every morning when they woke up and it was not because they were loud. 4. No campground store so if you forgot something, you're going to have to venture out in the surrounding area to find what you need. There is plenty nearby, but it's always nice if you can just get it from the campground store. Your best options are site 61 if you want a nice, large site on the water (not a lot of privacy) or site 65 for a nice, large site, but very private with only one site next to you and the other side is trees. If you like camping in an open field with other campers and don't mind the lack of privacy, they have that option too. Really something for everyone. One last note, showers are 50 cents for 6 minutes. Not a pro or con in my opinion, but certainly worth mentioning so you are prepared when you get there!

The owners are amazing and friendly. They have a tiny store that mostly has shirts and some toys. They advertised ice but did not have any. There is an Irving gas station a few miles away that is stocked with great items, beer, wine, etc. They also make cold and hot sandwiches. Tiny playground for kids. Had some swings and a slide. I love that they have a game room with books and games you can take to your site. They placed rubber ducks around the campground and the kids loved finding them during their stay. Not too much going on locally and you would need to travel close to an hour for bigger tourist attractions. All in all, I will definitely return.

We showed up a minute or two after the hay ride left and they even ran it a second time for our kids. The people running the place could not have been nicer, and the cabin was clean and comfortable. There's a cute general store where you check in and we were right down the road from all kinds of wonderful things; Quechee gorge and state park, an awesome nature center, and fabulous restaurants. Could not have been happier we chose this place!

We visited Woodford State Park in June 2025. We had a site that sits on the embankments of the…read moreAdams reservoir (not all of their sites are waterfront). There was a consistent breeze next to the water, which helped reduce bugs. The sites were very clean and spacious. It's a beautiful camp ground to walk around and there is a trail that goes around the reservoir. Hearing the Loons at dusk/dawn was almost ethereal. Highly recommend!
