The cashier called out the manager b/c it rang up differently. I showed him the internet website advertisement. With complete rudeness, even hostility in his voice, he glared "it's a mistake"! I can't sell it to you for than price, someone entered it wrong. Well it's halfway through the sale month, can you honor the stores mistake for 1 bottle? I ask. NO, bugged eyed now. No words exchanged, we just left. To make matters worst, as we sat in the car discussing this very icky interaction, he came out and looked around the parking lot! It was obvious because he behaved poorly, he figured we'd resort to his ill behavior. The only mistake here is to think that this business gives a hoot about their customers . A lot, A LOT, of undesirable people loiter outside this liquor store and up and down Washington Blvd in the general area. Folks who feel easily threatened or intimidated should not try to go here. That said, despite the less than flattering exterior of Washington Bar Liquors and the unwashed masses of the folks hanging around outside, the inside is quite large, clean, and the store offers a good variety of liquor, wine, and beer. There are rows of wines past the register. The liquor is behind the register. The other side of the store is all refrigerators. There is one small fridge housing wines, the rest are mostly beer with juices and sodas scattered throughout. The staff mostly stays behind the register area, but whoever is working is always friendly and helpful to me. There is no parking lot, it's all street parking, but I never have an issue getting a spot close to the store. I don't commonly stop at this liquor store, but sometimes it's necessary. The people outside never bother me, but I can see how they're a deterrent to the average shopper. But once you're inside the store, it's a pretty gravy experience.

During my visit, not all of the featured rosés were available to taste, and the sample pours were just a couple drops. If the sample pour were similar to what I've experienced in other wine shops, I believe it could've provided a fuller experience to select a wine. I also would have loved to hear a bit more about each wine while tasting. Overall, I still think this is a convenient wine shop, and with a slightly more engaging tasting experience and customer service, I easily could have walked out with multiple bottles.

All were excellent choices. In celebration they are also offering a curated "Better Than Cake" birthday box of 6 wines. You can also get a "Rosé Bouquet" box right now featuring 6 bottles of rosé. I immediately went back and to my surprise they took the whole box and gave me a new one and told me not to worry about the one we had opened. I was blown away by their generous costumer service! To whom this may concern,…read more You should be aware that Allview Liquors in Ellicott City is advertising one price on the shelf of every item and charging a different amount at the register on every item. I spoke with the manager, Justin, and I spoke with his employee, Alex. Alex said "Americans are stupid. They don't read." Something along the lines of how people are not going to notice the difference between the shelf price and the register price. For example, I purchased 6 bottles of moscato wine. The shelf said each item was $7.99; however, when I got to the register, it came up as $8.23 per bottle. I explained to Alex how 25 cents per item per person would really add up and that it was deceitful. He said that they didn't want to pay the 3% credit card fee and that's why they were charging people extra, but this is unbeknownst to the customer. They have a 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch sticker on the door and by the cash registers, saying something along the lines of how the shelf price is the cash price. They very well know that people don't carry cash anymore. I asked repeatedly how do you know what you are paying before you pay for it? They would not answer the question. Eventually, I got the answer that it is 3% more, because they don't want to pay the credit card fee. They have one small line on their receipt about a cash price, but they also say "all sales are final. No returns." My understanding is that this might be illegal--advertising one price consistently over and over throughout your whole store, but charging another for every item at the register.
