About this time last year, I took my car to them to get somethings fixed. They had to basically redo the entire engine and they did it and got it back to me in a decent amount of time, considering all the work they had to do. They got my car running again and got me back on the road. I took it back this year to get a scan and they have to do some more work but they getting it done in a timely fashion. Definitely take their time to make sure everything is running smoothly and working properly. I would recommend this shop to anyone. As a towing/mechanic family, we have never brought our cars to shops, but we had an issue that we could not figure out for months. I was nervous to bring my car to a shop, since we have always done our own work and know the importance of quality work. Not only did this shop and our technician, Joey, meet my expectations but they surpassed it. They factored in extra parts and cost, so I knew the absolute top price it would be and when I got my bill it was significantly less than expected. They kept us updated, stuck with the project and got it figured out, and were very respectful. My car needed pretty significant work since my timing chain was becoming worn, and any work that revolves around cracking an engine case is not something you want just anyone doing. I had an alignment done at Wilkersons after buying new tires. They were timely and professional. The car was immediately noticeably better handling and tracked true. Another brake line replacement performed on a truck was fairly priced, performed within the projected schedule and they picked the truck up with their own tow vehicle. There may be other good shops in Springfield, but Wilkersons is equal to the best you can ask for. read more

I took my car here after it died on me in the middle of the road after shaking really hard. i'm definitely not a mechanic and had no idea what had gone on so whenever i got it towed to wilkersons and they told me it was a $600 fix for some steering wheel part i'd never heard of before. i didn't think too much of it. we found out later that the steering wheel switch piece was just to get the car started, because they couldn't get the car to turn on at all, and there was no guarantee that fixing that piece would actually fix my car. We went ahead and went through with it hoping for the best, and i got my car back a couple days after, and within 2 days after i picked it up, my car was acting up and shaking again. I called, made another appointment, and took it in a week later (i tried to not drive it to the best of my abilities but life happens, and every time i was in it it would start violently shaking.) My car dies on me on the way there, not wilkersons fault, we all knew my car was having issues. So i call them to arrange for the tow and the man on the phone was a little short with me, but i ended up getting the car to start and just drove it the rest of the way because we were literally down the street. They had my car for 3 days. All weekend. and told me 3 separate times that they "can't get it to act up" and that they "can't seem to replicate the problem." They told me they drove it around for over half an hour and could not get it to act strange at all. eventually i get tired of it, say okay i'll pick up my car and just take it somewhere else. I go in this morning, pick up my car, not even 5 minutes on the road my car starts shaking violently again, and not 5 minutes after that, it dies in the middle of the road. I'm not convinced they even drove my car. Its started shaking every single time i've driven it since i got it back from them, i simply find it hard to believe they couldn't find ANY problems. my check engine light was on when i got my car back. Driving through to Chicago, had a light come on and they recognized it was probably a simple item and got me back on route quickly.

On a road trip from Chicagoland to Texas, the cruise control accelerator became stuck. After safely pulling over and getting towed by roadside assistance, we had the good fortune of being helped by this garage. We explained we wanted to drive to Texas that day if possible. A mechanic performed a preliminary inspection within 20 minutes of our arrival. Ten minutes later we had a diagnosis, frayed cable for the cruise control. I asked for options. First option cut the cord for the cruise, separate cord for regular accelerator will continue to function (with no cruise possible). Second option, replace cable for 1 to 1.5 hours wait. We chose option 1, and were on the road again within 15 minutes of their report. Thank you for being honest with two mechanically ignorant drivers, and getting us back on the road. We made their safely, and only paid for work that was done. Couldn't be happier with their assistance! read more
