Most shoe stores are self-serve and I decided I needed assistance in finding the right fit. Hunter was extremely helpful and spent a lot of time fitting and finding the right shoes for me. And recommended some brands I wasn't aware of. One of the pairs of Xelero shoes ending up being very uncomfortable and I returned that pair several days later. The Xelero was very comfortable and stable. However, one of the shoe's "tongues" was very uncomfortable. It probably would not affect most people, but I have had issues which affect my ability to walk. I returned the Xelero for a different style of the same brand that worked better for my needs. Josh spent a lot of time assisting me finding the right shoe and fit. I am very satisfied with the service and highly recommend The Heel shoe store for anyone, but especially for anyone who has foot, knee or hip issues.

What sets one retail store apart from the pack, in my mind, is cleanliness, artful displays, selection and clerk attentiveness. The dressing rooms were free of clutter, no trash. I had a most attentive clerk. When shopping, ask what the return policy is. Don't expect to wear, abuse and return. Be respectful of their merchandise and, if you follow the store's policy, you won't get an unpleasant reaction. I rate On Deck 5 stars because they earn it

Schroeder's has a coffee house, men's and women's clothing, a yarn shop, bookstore, a toy store, souvenirs and all sorts of other merchandise. I bought a few books and a pair of moccasin slippers. My friends bought t-shirts and a puzzle. The people working the store were helpful, friendly and truly passionate about Schroeder's history. This is a store that has managed to stay true to its heritage, but stay relevant. If you're in the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area, Schroeder's Department Store is a must stop kind of place. My experience reminded me of the scene in Pretty Woman, where Julia Roberts was snubbed by the shop staff and came back when she was dressed to the nines and the staff were all over her to assist her.
