There is plenty of car parking, but public transport options are slightly limited due to the out-of-town location. Facilities are very good and the overall impression is of a well-run centre that is not overwhelming in terms of size. There is a varied mix of stores, with a bias towards clothes and gift shops. Overall, an excellent place to head for if shopping for a birthday or Christmas, though perhaps not quite large enough for a full-on Saturday shopping session!

When doing research at places I know pretty well and do go and spend time at, I thought I have to…read morewrite my review for 'House of Fraser' I can't speak for anyone else about this one, but I really love it, their have been some changes over the years to the store, some good, some not so good, but all in all, it's your typical department store where you can go, you can enjoy looking around, their is a Caffe Nero there that is very good and though out the departments, a wide range of fashion, home, furniture and food..etc.. You name it. The staff are very friendly and pleasant, always on hand to help. I myself am saving up for Xmas (coming to quick) and they have some great ideas for presents too. My advice, save up a bit, put some money aside and go and treat yourself from time to time. At 'House of Fraser' their is something there for everyone!

It has been owned by Debenhams since 1976, yet the store is fairly old being founded in 1780, while it doesn't seem to compare to the older department stores in London, it still is a fairly nice branch, you can enter the store through street-level or through the Grosvenor Shopping Centre. The store is pretty old and you can tell that through shopping inside, they have random sets of steps and ramps all over, so it isn't just one straight/flat level, so do be careful where you're walking to avoid tripping. They had a huge clearance sale on my visit, due to Debenhams' facing difficulties and having to close many of their stores, including this one, I still found many of their prices to be high even after the discount, I found the promotional offers to be inconsistent and it was hard to tell what item costs what as each part of the store/product range would have a different % off. The store did seem a little messy, but it did have some good products overall and it is nice to see they haven't ignored the history, it's a shame to see this store earmarked for closure as although it isn't perfect, it is and remains a nice addition to the town centre. 3*

This place really is fantastic for womens clothes - like debenhams it has all the usual brands such as Jane Norman and Oasis, and it has a great underwear section with huge variety of pretty knickers. Of course these come with a higher price tag that the high street stuff that can be found there but this is where I would come to look for something to wear for a special occasion.

My favourite thing about this Debenham's is the Benefit makeup counter. Being a California girl, I prefer Benefit to other cosmetics, and this Benefit counter was just as good. The manager of the Notts Benefit was a really sweet yet efficient pretty lady in her early 20s. I had a budget (boo), but was pretty specific about what I was lookign for -- yet vague enough to need to test nearly every product. You know, a typical idiotic consumer. With tons of efficiency, friendliness and patience, she took me through the range of products I was looking for, offered suggestions but didn't oversell, and left me ultimately with two modest purchases I didn't regret. This Debenham's is quite large, and has a great selection of women's clothing, particularly well stocked on swimsuits and summer clothing in spring (hurrah for ice cream lolly bikinis in style of Katy Perry!). It has a cafe/restaurant on the top floor with decent coffees and cappucinos for the weary credit-card wielder.

I personally believe the shop could do with a major re-vamp as it has started to look very tired in recent years. I do not agree with other reviewers comments that it's like a little Harrods, it's no where near as good. They do offer a wide range of products and very often have attractive sales on that can save you quite a bit of cash. I recommend the homeware department and have picked up a fair few bargains in there over the years.

They have a small section of homewares, again good prices i brought some tall bubble glasses for only 50p each! there is an enterance on the main street and at the back the enterance goes into the precinct oposite waitrose. The carparks are quite close by. The staff are very freindly and helpful they always lok smart and i never have trouble fininding a memeber of staff.

Excellent guidance from the staff in the home appliances department earlier this week. I needed a…read morenew tumble dryer, and went with the intent to purchase a German brand machine. The sales assistant asked where the machine was to be located. He then proceeded to explain why I shouldn't purchase the one I had in mind but that I should buy a cheaper model that was more suited to being in the cold environment it would be located in I.e. the basement. I left the store having spent less than 40% of my original budget. The machine has been delivered, to the basement and they even moved the old broken machine upstairs for me. Excellent service, thank you. Your reputation was correct.

I think a department store should have some sense of specialness - luxury even - is that not what the store is selling in many areas? Beauty - perfume - designer handbags - etc. The "new" ladies loo's on restaurant floor are as I would imagine prison visiting room loos would look. No style - just minimalism - grey brown non colours. Just unpleasant. The Waitrose on Eccy Road has at least a clean shiny floor and new smarter loos. Well done them. I'm off to Handforth John Lewis near Wilmslow to see if they are reining that shop too - I hope not. Its only another 15 minutes from me in the Hoipe Valley and altogether better - so far. Please get the Sheffield Store back on track - there are not many good shops in Sheffield - I will try Atkinsons though as I hear that is nice.
