We paid $50.00 for him to be reviewed by a coach in order to set up a training plan with The Yard. In other words, we wanted to enroll him in their Baseball Academy, and this seemed to be the first step. The website mentioned a video review and an assessment of skill. We completed the assessment, which included no video by the way, and were told we would be hearing back to set up a training plan. That is the last we heard from them. No email, no phone call, nothing. WE followed up, more than once, and were told, no problem, we will be in touch. That was over two months ago with no response. I feel like we threw away our money and have gotten nothing in return. If they are understaffed or incapable of providing services, maybe they should stop advertising.

Several teachers were yelling at the kids pretty rudely, such as threatening to call parents or lock them in the van alone if they didn't listen (ie teachers wanting the children to take smiley pictures not a safety concern issue), while at the Olson Farms Pumpkin Patch on October 17, 2023. These responses seemed pretty extreme for each context. Also a girl got hurt while playing and one of the teachers was invalidating and shaming in how she spoke to her. The teacher left her to cry on her own for several minutes. I spoke up to say it seemed that she could use kindness and validation; the teacher did not do anything, instead continued to leave the girl alone after saying she did not have ice. As a parent this was all disturbing to see and not what I would expect from preschool teachers. This school appears to need the teachers to be trained in how to speak to children in an engaging way. The teachers do not appear to know how to emotionally regulate themselves so how can they teach this to the children?

I wanted to drop my child off in an environment that closely resembled that of her own home and that's exactly what Little Scholars provides! Kids get to play in a large backyard and/or the multiple playrooms and everything is very clean and well taken care of! We really wanted this to work since the location is so perfect but that was ultimately our wake-up call to pull our child out immediately. The care we received during that 6 month period was honestly sub-par. Teachers act more like babysitters rather than a teaching figure. A lot of sweet treats are served and screen time provided at at least every birthday party which was very often, plus more as part of a poorly designed curriculum. Teachers can be seen often on their phone instead of watching the children during outside time. Lunch seemed to be a lot of Mac and Cheese. Teacher turnover rate was high - we went through 4 different teachers just in these 6 months. The facility is small and outdated. We were asked to keep our child home on hot days since the school's AC can't handle the heat. Lastly, they do not mandate the covid vaccine for the teachers and refuse to disclose vaccination status citing HIPAA. Any other profession I would be able to respect that but since these are the people who directly care for my child, I'd expect the school to understand that mentality of parents and act accordingly. Our oldest started there around age 2.5 and our youngest started at 6 months, so we've had the chance to see all aspects of teaching and care at the SE location. The preschool program is excellent. Along with plenty of free play, indoors and outdoors, Childroots has the kids participate in small workshops (called ateliers) in which they explore various aspects of art, science, math and reading. Having your child come home every day and tell you about the science experiment they did or, at a young age, talk about the chapter books that were being read to them, was wonderful. One great aspect not to be ignored, is food. Kids start eating at a table with utensils and real cups once they can sit up, and then as they approach the 1 year mark, Childroots starts serving family style vegetarian meals. Our kids have always been good eaters, but it doesn't hurt when they're having quinoa, beans, rice, kale, squash, cabbage etc at school. Knowing that they were getting a healthy morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack definitely took a lot of pressure off of meal planning for us. Entrusting others with your children is never an easy process, but the quality and passion of the teachers as well as the training they receive, should give you no pause if you are thinking of sending your kids here.

My child has been attending another Childroots school (Northwest) as the Southeast center closed temporarily and I have been so pleased with how easily my child transitioned into the new setting. I believe it's a testament to their philosophy and staff training which provided a safe and familiar structure for my child during this uncertain time. Overall, I highly recommend Childroots.

He is now almost 6 and ready to start kindergarten. The care and support they have shown our entire family over the years is more than anyone could hope for. They gave him a love of learning, a safe space to grow and learn about himself, to find friends and build social skills, all the while keeping us parents fully in the loop. Sending pictures every day and newsletters every month. They have professionals from OMSI and Firefighters, etc come and visit to further enrich the students and the kids are always having fun while they learn. I'm so happy they are close to us, so we can now give our daughter the same experience. The staff is amazing and they truly do care about the kiddos and even the parents. Love love love this school!

We made the decision to use Kindercare Learning Center at Kroger Fred Meyer for summer care for our…read more(now) 5 year old. Our goals for the summer included our daughter becoming fully potty-trained, and setting her up for success with positive peer interaction (i.e. not using her hands to communicate during conflict). We talked extensively with the center about these two goals, and they worked closely with her on both issues, individually and in group settings. I'm pleased to say that she successfully achieved both goals, and it is solely due to the work from the staff at Kindercare. They are extremely knowledgeable in child development, and their staff is both kind and patient with children. I would definitely use them again for full-time care.
