Th only veterinary practice i would trust with my animals…read more Spinney Hill vets have seen us through the death of a hamster, death of a cat, birth of four kittens and all teh jabs and assessments in between. All of the vets and the practice nurses are extremely helpful and kind and I get the feeling that they genuinely love their jobs. There is plenty of parking available and although the waiting room is quite small (make sure your pets are securely caged or on leads) the appointment system seems to mean that there are never more than two people waiting at any one time.
We have been using Spinney Hill for about 7 years, most of the time they are very good, however the…read moreservice varies with the vet, and you can never be sure of seeing the same one on each visit as they move around between practices which is not helpful for continuity of care. On the whole they are friendly and helpful but have found that on occasion the phone is answered by someone (a nurse I believe) who is offhand and difficult. Longer opening hours would be an advantage, as would weekend cover by the same practice. It is a cosy little place, can often be very busy and disorganised, and the waiting room carpet reeks of dog, I always find myself wondering why it doesn't have a washable floor.

This vet is super handy to the Barons Court area!…read more I didn't take my cat here, as she had been already going to a different vet before we moved into the area, but this vet was great to us for some thing: 1) Pet food! They have a great stock of upper-market pet food in-house. If they don't have the size you want, they will order it for you and it will come in within a few days. They were able to order our super-large bags of Royal Canin cat food. They also offer very competitive rates on it. (Note - buy big! you end up saving! 2) They were able to help me out when I was in a jam one day with day-long boarding. We had some repairmen coming around to the flat short notice, and they were able to board our Mischief for the day until the workers were done. Great being able to accomodate on such a short notice! Rude receptionist and rude Italian vet who is very egotistical and does not listen. They only think about how to take more money from customers and do not care about animals health. On moving to the area and checking out the various veterinary options we concluded that this one…read morelooked clean and professional and had the best facilities when compared with the competition. It has since recently expanded further to add surgical capability. Our two cats were duly taken along for their first check-up, which kicked off with a talk on responsible pet ownership. It transpired that, having been taken in by the advertising and ready availability at the local supermarket, what we were feeding them was wholly unsuitable and basically junk food (eek, how shameful!). In addition we were giving them too much of it - cats should be treated like "bonsai panthers" and kept lean and keen. It was suggested we could try giving them a raw chicken wing as a treat on occasion (cooked bones were bad for them). Duly admonished we stocked up on the more wholesome and natural Lily's Kitchen and Meowing Heads cat food sold by the adjoining pet shop, and, to the cats' disgust, reduced their portion sizes. When presented with a raw chicken wing (an outdoors only treat!), clearly having become accustomed to the cat equivalent of burgers and chips, and being the least convincing bonsai panthers ever likely to be seen, the cats quickly abandoned it in favour of a snooze on the sofa whilst they waited for something more palatable to turn up in their bowls. On their second annual check-up we arrived slightly apprehensive that we had failed to instill in them any appetite for the lifestyle of a bonsai panther, but all was fine (well, they're still on the larger side but it's not that they're fat, they're just big boned. Honestly, it's the nature of the breed!) I feel confident that this Practice knows what it's doing and, should my cats require anything more than a check-up and booster vaccinations, would be very capable of delivering a high standard of treatment and care. The reception staff always seem cheerful and friendly and are happy to help if you're looking for something in particular in the pet shop side of things, which stocks a good selection of food and other pet paraphernalia. I can never resist picking up some kind of treat when doing the food shop, and have returned home with everything from scratching mats, feather toys, and even a cat sensory centre (don't ask)!

Absolutely do not recommend this vet's surgery for anything other than routine care. My partner…read moretook his kitten to get spayed and they were horribly unprofessional and were apparently too busy to give him proper post-op care instructions and did not care to schedule the necessary post-op check ups after her surgery. Prior to the surgery they tried to sell him "add-ons" for during the procedure to have her kidneys and liver checked and offer extra fluids to make the surgery more expensive. She also slipped out of her collar cone twice after surgery, so we went back to Wimbledon Veterinary Surgery to see if they could give her a properly fitted collar cone, but instead, they took the old one and tied it together with a piece of string, rather than give us a new one. Obviously she slipped out of it again so the second time we went to a different vet surgery where they gave us a cat bodysuit to protect her stitches. They were appalled at the quality of care that we had received here. We will not be returning. If you are looking for a vet surgery that actually cares more about the animals in their care than money, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
