I chipped my tooth and messed up my knees pretty bad. It was a lucky break because it didn't hit or expose my nerve but it was close. Working with Dr. Gunderson and his team was the absolute best experience, and most horrifying procedure, I've ever had at the dentist. During the process, I got the opportunity to check out the stubs that had become my front teeth. The procedure was quick, the staff was efficient and then it was over. My temp crowns fit well and I barely recognized a difference in my smile. The team has an incredible communications system where they can communicate instantly through headsets and get the work done as quickly as possible. I felt very well taken care of by the whole team and was incredibly grateful for the professionalism and establishment of care! I don't know that I would have been able to complete the procedure at any other clinic, but I felt safe with you all. Thank you very much.

And my brief meeting with Dr. Shearman was pleasant. We discussed some issues I'm having, but since I'm not here permanently, Dr. Shearman did not try to force me into rushing into anything. They do take Delta Dental, and they also have 7A appointments which are so convenient!

I called for an appointment and was able to get in within two weeks. Dr Shearman's office was very accommodating. I have a small child and since we travel, child care isn't always an option unless my husband takes time off or I take the baby with me. Dr Shearman came in early just to help me with my situation and because of this, my husband only missed an hour of work. I am not a fan of dental work but Dr Shearman eased my anxiety and made the experience painless and tolerable. His entire staff is very caring and kind and his assistant and nurse were nearly pain free and really listened to my conditions and situation requiring breaks from mouth work, pain free shots, and patience in all endeavors. They are working with my balance that my insurance doesn't cover, and have been fabulous about making payments. I felt no judgement and was treated with the utmost respect. My family had an unfortunate experience with another dental practice in Butte, and believe me this was a very welcoming change. Dental work is traumatic and I believe should have coverage in medicare especially for the elderly as it has a direct impact on our health. I advise anyone to use caution with this dentist. I had to get a tooth extraction which resulted in…read moreimmediate complications. I followed all after treatment instructions, however I suffered worsening pain as time went on. 7 days after the initial extraction I went back due to this pain. He did find a small tooth fragment lodged in the gum which he removed. He stated that he could not see any sign of dry socket but he did not rule out the possibility. He told me there was nothing he could do if it was dry socket. The following day I returned as the pain was still severe and I was fearful of an infection forming. He reiterated that he did not see dry socket, he took some x rays and could not confirm an infection. Once again, he did not rule either of these things out and told me there was nothing he could do for me, aside from agreeing to prescribe antibiotics. He forgot to send that prescription in, which led me to find a new dentist at a different dental practice the following day, as I needed a second opinion. The second dentist was able to confirm that I had dry socket. He offered me two treatment options and sent me home with an antiseptic to keep the area clean. After two days on oral antibiotics and regular antiseptic cleaning, another large tooth fragment pushed its way to the surface of my gum from the area in which I was worried about infection. It appears that the dentist from Copper Mountain Dental left behind a few fragments of tooth. I suspect this is what prevented the blood clot from forming and led to dry socket. Having the remaining fragment push to the surface once I started antibiotics leads me to believe this was causing an infection. I am very concerned and disappointed by the fact that I was told there was nothing he could do to help me, given that healing began rather quickly once I started antibiotics and the second dentist cleaned it and sent me home with something to keep it clean. At the very least, this is negligent and irresponsible in practice. I will never go back as long as I can help it.

He was kind, compassionate, taking a full history, providing alternative options, never bristled when I needed a second opinion. I want to clone this man. If I ever become Oprah wealthy, I will fly him all over the world to be my personal dentist. For now, I have to suffer through another horrible dentist while outside of the great state of Montana.
