Dr. Engels wife Tiffanie took over. The most miserable woman on the planet. It's very sad. What was once what I described in my former review as "the dental Shangri La" is now the dungeon of hell. I have been very ill. My BP has been running 200/120. THIS is hypertensive critical and death defining. I asked Tiffanie to please provide me with my medical records with attatched afadavit to authenticate them for legal reasons and her reply was, "that's not my job and I'm busy". She was rude, belligerent and unkind actually sub human. Since Engel Dental Institute is not a corporation and has no medical records custodian it is the responsibility of the doctor in charge or the office manager. Since Tiffanie is Engels wife she holds herself up on a pedestal and not subject to anything she does not want to do. Not even to save a life. So as the court suggests that I bypass her and Subpoena Dr. Engel and hold him accountable and file a formal complaint with the North Carolina dental board. Dr. Engel has no choice but to comply with the court. If he does not he will be held in contempt and face jail time with hefty monetary fines. Doctors believe they are above the law and don't have to abide with anything. Wrong! This time that will not happen. Please beware of this medical practice and if u were a satisfied client you will be putting yourself in a dangerous scenario. Consider going elsewhere. What was once a place of hope is now a place of sorrow.

The dentist I saw was incredibly kind and thorough. She conducted a comprehensive checkup to ensure there were no signs of infection or inflammation, and even ordered a CT scan of my teeth to make sure nothing was missed. After discussing the numbness and its progression, she gently suggested that it might be Bell's Palsy. However, to rule out the very slight chance of a stroke, she advised me to have someone take me to the emergency room immediately. The staff were all extremely kind and professional, and they asked only that I call and update them on my condition after my ER visit. I felt genuinely cared for, and I believe that level of care is the best any industry can offer its customers. Oh and it is Bell's Palsy. I should be right as rain in a few weeks to a few months.

Everyone from the front desk staff to insurance verification was quick and easy. My Insurnace was even verified before I arrived for my first appointment. Dr. Godwin was thorough and caring during my new patient exam and the X-Ray tech was gentle and patient with me. After my first visit I had a detailed treatment plan and got lucky and was able to schedule my fillings and cleaning for the following day. Kandiss was my hygienist and was caring and thorough. The assistant to Dr. Godwin ensured that the numbing was complete before I received any shots and for the first time I didn't even feel them. The work Dr. Godwin performed for my filings is amazing. They are perfectly smooth and unnoticeable. Overall I had an excellent experience and highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a caring and efficient office. What were we doing for 2 years? Well, let me preface this by saying that I have a very stressful job/life which manifests itself in me grinding my teeth to nubs. (When my bottom teeth were done and placed in my mouth I complained to Dr. Current saying that I had horse teeth. He then explained that my bottom teeth were the perfect size and I had ground nubs for so long I had no idea what a tooth should look like) Since I was not going to stop grinding, Dr. Current was tasked with putting teeth in my mouth that (1) did not come out of my mouth and put in a glass every night. I am too vain for that. (2) making teeth for the implants Dr. Nasson put in (another review) that would withstand the force of my grind and (3) make sure they didn't fall out. Yes, I cannot tell you how many times I have spit my teeth into my hands. I acknowledge that I was not always the most pleasant human being to work with and I was stubborn about what I wanted. I learned the difference between "want" and "need". Dr. Current did not want me to need him as much as I would have had I not listened to him. He also refused to do that which would not work just because I said so. He won and I have teeth that do not fall out; are the right size and work. I can actually chew. I had just gotten them all in and went on a cruise. First meal I picked up the crustiest bread you ever saw and found that I was afraid to bite into it. I texted Dr. Current and told him about my fear that they would break. He laughed and said "Please take them out for a spin. Chew! I did and have been chewing every since. I could write for days about this journey. I would post a picture so you could see my teeth but the reality is I do not know how to smile with my teeth showing. I was always self conscious about them. When I try to smile to show off my teeth, I look a tad deranged and possibly feral. I recently had to undergo a deep cleaning--a procedure I've unfortunately had to endure at least four times before. Let's just say, it's never been something I've looked forward to. Add to that a history of unpleasant dental experiences and the retirement of my long-time dentist, and I had truly grown fearful of even routine cleanings. I stayed with my former dental office out of familiarity, but with a rotating staff of dentists and hygienists, it never quite felt right. After being referred to a periodontist once again and letting another year slip by in fear... I finally took a leap and began searching for new specialists in my area. That's when I found Drs. Nason & Lopez, and I'm so grateful I did. From the very first phone call, I felt seen and heard. The person who answered had the warmest, most comforting voice -- like a sweet grandma -- and she truly listened to my story. She found me an appointment quickly, and just a week later, I was in their office. And WOW... every single person I encountered was incredibly kind, professional, and personable. The energy in the office was warm and reassuring. Even the woman who took my X-rays was amazing -- gentle and patient. The periodontist clearly explained every step of my treatment and the timeline ahead. I didn't have a single question because everything was communicated so well.
