Facility is new, therefore clean and nice in a sense. Numerous family changing rooms are a nice touch. But being impressed stops there for me. I don't know what kind of budget this place is working with but the entire staff needs replaced. The level of incompetence from administration to lifeguards is astounding. It's not cheap by any means to put all 3 of my kids in swimming lessons, but clearly worth it. However these lessons for the most part are taught by teenagers that don't particularly seem to care. There are 8 sessions to a class and the last one is a "free day" for all the kids' hard work, even though they continue to hold the kids back and not pass them along. To be clear I don't want my kids passing to the next level if they aren't ready, but this negates the free day as far as I'm concerned. I am not just a disgruntled parent whose kids failed swimming lessons either. This has occurred on more than one occasion and it doesn't feel like their goal is to ensure the kids are learning what they need to continue on. So I have just spent $138 on lessons and not one of my children is moving up. I asked my son if any of the kids in his class of 5 passed and he said no. At some point it seems that falls on the instructors. Also they have a brand new mini playground outside that I asked about using since we were there for lessons and was told it's only for the after school program. Just bizarre. Not the same Shore Pool feeling from when I was a kid. Very sad. I hope they figure it out. As for my family we will be doing the extra drive to Sequim to use the YMCA pool from here on out. That pool is more like the old one anyways.. Large pool, gradual shallow to deep. Additional baby pool. Just better all around!! read more

This facility was very clean, friendly, and well maintained. The life guards were courteous and kind. All the bathrooms and showers were clean and comfortable. I loved that the diving board had an unlocked fulcrum!!! read more

Fantastic facilities, fail schedule. The summer schedule has the pool closed every afternoon of the week until 6 PM. Must be an effort to reduce patronage during peak hours. Obviously an issue because there was a huge stack of closure schedule forms on the front desk just to avoid confusion! Very confusing scheduling at least one pool should be open to public during business hours. read more

This is a stunningly renovated aquatic center! It is open during the lockdown restrictions and they are really good about cleaning between every swim session. You have to book your session ahead of time and then you have to be out by a certain time so they can clean before the next session is allowed in. They lock the doors between sessions go keep groups separate and numbers always within the guidelines set forth by the governor. I felt very comfortable going in here with my mask and staying on opposite ends of the lane from only one other person. The renovations they have done have made this a very impressive aquatic center, especially for little old Clallam County and such a small population. The lap lines are at a constant 80 degrees, ideal for actually swimming rather than soaking in a warm water bath like a manatee. The 6 lap lanes have a depth starting at 4'4" that goes to 5'4". The new gutters are flush with the pool edge so there is less of a wave effect in the pool. They even had kickboards and pull buoys for patrons to use in containers labeled "clean" and "not clean" - I didn't check but I'm guessing they clean between sessions. There are locker rooms for you to leave your belongings in and you can bring your own lock if you want to lock your items. There are also 6 ADA accessible private restrooms with showers in the breezeway between the entrance and the pool. There are additional lockers here for people to utilize as well. Lastly there is bleacher type stadium seating on one side of the pool where you can leave your belongings while you swim or if you're a parent you can wait here for your child during a swim lesson or session. It costs $6 per swim session for a solo adult but there are discounts for kids, seniors, veterans, disabled persons, and families. They also offer discounted rates if you buy a 12-visit pass that does not expire. What a valuable resource for this small community! read more

While staying at the Heart o' the Hills Campground in Olympic National Park, I was directed here by an informational pamphlet for a shower. For pure cleanliness factors, it's pretty good; I'd been hiking for two days and really just wanted a rinse. If you're looking for a spa experience, you'll not find it here. $3 gets you a shower and a towel, which is great. What it does not get you, however, is much privacy. While most men are used to the Shawshank-shower rooms where shower heads sprout from the walls and aim into one big, uncomfortable room, the setup in this pool is far more...intimate. Showerheads face out from each of the four sides of 3-4 columns in the shower area--that's right! Not only do you get to shower in an open space, but you get to make eye contact with the person across from you at the same time! Making it even more fun is the fact that the wall separating the shower room from the locker room is about 3' high, so basically it's a little like Flashdance in that you're kind of on display to anyone who happens into the locker room. Not a big deal, but this is clearly a place for a cleaning shower, not a relaxing one. I may be a little over-dramatic, but this was also during swim time, so that means there were a bunch of kids running through the locker room, easily 10 years my minor. When you've just hiked 20 miles and want a shower, the last thing you need is to be wondering if in some strange way you're violating a child protection law. But regardless, it's a good spot to snag a quick shower in a pinch. read more
