Also a solid date spot if you're trying to seem outdoorsy without actually doing outdoorsy things.

The owner was a woman around 30's/40's with brown hair and she was with her mother and her two children (maybe 5 and 8ish). She acknowledged my puppy and allowed her dog Hachi to go straight up to mine with no caution. All of a sudden she says "leave it" to her dog Hachi and it bites my puppy directly in the throat area. She then says her dog "had growled before at other dogs but never bit another dog before" and my boyfriend took our dog to the vet but they weren't able to do a full exam. It's a good 1/2" puncture wound on my puppy's throat/neck area. My boyfriend unfortunately didn't get her information or call animal control/non emergency to make sure her dog Hachi is caught up on its rabies vaccine etc. If you saw anything, frequent the park/live/work in the area and recognize the description or this sounds like a family that you know please reply to this. My puppy is so young and I'm so worried for her. Thank you, and please be safe at this park, I had a lot of people telling me that there is a dog issue with off leash and aggressive dogs.

There's a nifty little elevator you can use to get from the bridge to the park too. It's well-lit but a bit dirty/smelly. But it looks cool! They also have outdoor concerts here occasionally. Usually just local bands--the big names are at Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman--but the smaller name bands are often better anyway! No seating, so bring a blanket. There's also a little picnic area right by the box office under the bridge. This is no fancy park with tons of nature, but it isn't supposed to be. It's a great balance between a park and urban life. Once you're ready to get back into the city, just walk back across the bridge and you're downtown again! I love the view of the Nashville skyline from this park too. 100% recommend.

Big, open, clean, and handicap accessible so everyone can get in on the chaos. I'm a playground inspector and know the installer, who does excellent work. You can tell this place was built right. Great park. Five stars. My kids burn energy and I get to pretend I'm supervising.

It's also inclusive for kids in a wheelchair or needing additional assistance. There are several musical play opportunities that really interest all ages. Plenty of shaded areas for parents to sit and watch their kids explore, picnic tables in the shade, etc. We spent a couple of hours there with a 1 year old and definitely explored the whole park. One warning, always check the back and seats of the different swings as some of them get hot in different places. There is a roller hockey rink and skate park there as well. My daughter really enjoyed roller skating in the rink. The whole park was very clean, and well maintained. Can't wait to go there again.

If you need a tee time, sorry, I might already be there. I've made friends, ran races, had full character development arcs, and I see the same deer so often that we're basically on a "head nod" basis. I've named them. They know my schedule. One of them owes me money. Honestly, Nashville Parks should either sponsor me, put my name on a bench, or issue a restraining order.

I have been making my way to all the Metro parks and Shelby Park sits high on my list right now, and for good reason! The park is well equipped with all the park staples and even a few specialty areas. I come here for the trails, as I love wandering around the park, through the woods, by the golf course and around the water. Just something about it all that makes the walks a bit more enjoyable. In addition to the trails the park offers the classic park offerings such as playgrounds, gazebos and sporting fields. The park is well kept and clean. All parks are a bit worn and dated, but it is not enough to detract from the park itself. Nashville does a good job keeping the parks in good working order, as well as clean. Overall, I am a fan of Shelby Park!

This park is excellent for toddlers- so much to play with and experience. My son can walk but this park would also be great if you had a crawling baby. There is a smaller children's area that is turfed and has many different play items that kept my son's interest. He did not want to leave. Lots of park are difficult to take this age to just based on there not being enough equipment for them to play with while also not being safe/hazardous for toddlers. Parking is incredibly easy since the lot is huge. The playground is fully fenced, which is one of the biggest reasons I love coming here. At many other parks there are creeks, busy walking paths, or playgrounds located too close to roads. Here, the playground is nicely separated from other activities, making it much easier to keep multiple kids safe. The restrooms are nearby and have always been clean during our visits. The playground itself has plenty to keep my kids entertained, and I especially appreciate that I can let my 1-year-old explore without constantly worrying about dangerous drop-offs or easy escape routes. The only areas that require a little extra supervision are the large blue slide and the spinning play feature. The park is nicely shaded and has several tables around where you can sit and enjoy a snack or lunch. I believe you can also rent the pavilions with tables for parties. If you have toddlers, preschoolers, or several young kids to keep track of at once, this park is hard to beat. It's safe, well-designed, and one of our family's favorite places to spend a morning.

Getting wild at the rumpus room!…read more It was our first time visiting the Rumpus Room and we were so excited to check it out. If you're looking for a fun, clean place to take the kiddos on those cold or rainy days, this is the spot! It's so quaint and such a fantastic idea. There are a few different play areas like a Veterinarian Clinic, construction zone, and cafe for the kiddos to engage in some imaginary play. Additionally, they have a sectioned off area specifically for babies and infants. The Rumpus Room is not only locally owned, but the owner, Haley, is female and a veteran....how freaking bad ass!! You can tell that she and her hubby have out so much heart into this cute place. You can also see all of the potential and vision they are working hard to bring out growing community. You can chose to play for an hour or better yet, a membership to have unlimited play time! At this time, they are requesting you reserve a play time through their website so they can accommodate safe play for all. We will for sure be back to play and look forward to seeing this hidden gem continue to shine bright!

It's very welcoming and relaxing for mamas or whomever is watching the littles. There are lots of soft toys to keep kids occupied. I'm looking forward to attending an event in the future!
