Got some drinks from this Crystal Lake bar. It has a name that already tells you where to go. Williams Street Tap is a pretty basic looking bar full of local regulars. A place mainly for drinks. They seem to prefer cash so bring some of that. Chill atmosphere. It's pretty much a basic bar. There's the long bar on the side along with a few tables. Has the typical posters on the walls of the typical beers. You can also play a few slots. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail. They have a pretty okay amount of whiskey if nothing in particular that's anything special. Has a pretty typical layout of a dive bar around here. It's located in downtown close to the Metra station. Courtney who was working at the time gave me and my wife the worst possible experience that we've ever had at any bar. Not only did she overcharge us, but I also overheard her say that she's not going to serve some of the Hispanic gentlemen because she said that they never tip her and I totally understand why they wouldn't want to tip her. I've never had a bad experience at this bar until Courtney started working here. I've been coming here for years and not one time have I ever been treated like this. read more

This is in the top-3 worst dive bars in Crystal Lake - entertaining, with sinister undertones. Outside of the regular stream of customers that roll out of the factories and into this bar around 6am each day to wet their brains, the later clientele and atmosphere seem like out of the Cantina Bar in the original Star Wars - seedy, dark, lost and potentially violent. When they aren't smoking outside and beating dents into the steel window trim while arguing, inside it feels like someone may vomit on you or a fistfight might break out at any moment over a dog or access to the slot machines or which light beer is best. The bartender is a pro and efficiently makes sure everyone is nice and lubricated. Drink and beer selection are about what you'd expect in a well-stocked basement man cave in your uncle Karl's house. I ended up here with my husband and sister-in-law on Christmas Eve after my husband's family deemed us all inappropriate at dinner...HAH!!! They strongly advised us not to go to the Williams Street Tap so that is EXACTLY where we went!!! This is a little dive bar in Crystal Lake...nothing fancy by any means. The staff is hilarious and extremely friendly. I don't recall any of their names, but they were all very entertaining...from the clepto young bartender who kept trying to steal my purse to the older bartender who had knicknames for everyone who entered (mine being Portia) to the back-bending butcher knife-wielding blonde!!! We heard stories about the fights that occur here and after viewing some of the patrons...yes...I am sure those stories are quite true. However, I think this is a fun little bar and would be inclined to return if I am ever back in Crystal Lake...I will just sit close to the door for a quick escape!!! read more

Brought in the wife the other day. Should have brought a body guard. Rough crowd looking to drink themselves into the ground. I have to start of by saying out of all the crystal lake bars this is by far my favorite. I was taken here for my 21's birthday. My birthday was on a tuesday and we had the entire bar to ourselves most of the night. The bar has two dartboards and an internet jukebox. Most of the time its a very quiet bar, people just stop in for a beer or sit at the bar all night watching the game. They have a few t.v's and always on sports or news. If your not looking for a a wild bar with alot of people (or trying to get laid) this bar is for you. The crowd is alot of the time older but always friendly. They always mix a good drink and have four dollar mini-pitchers and dollar watermelon shots. If your a Fin' McCools drinker you may as well stop into Williams Street Tap for a drink before or after Finns. read more

Best little dive bar in town. You never know whats gonna happen at this bar. Sometimes there's fights but seldomly. The crowd that comes with this bar is entertaining if you like to people watch. Lots of different walks of life. From the trashy fun loving alcoholic to the spoiled brat who wants to be adventurous and everyone in between frequent this bar. Its diverse. The bar tenders are entertaining and friendly. If you treat them kindly, these bar tenders do not take crap from any patron, and I agree with how they treat patrons who are nasty to them. Its not unreasonable and they aren't afraid to tell you, your acting like a jerk if you are. They take very good care of they're regulars. either by keeping an eye out for them, and keeping them safe while getting them hammered. Everyone who lives in crystal lake has stopped and had a drink at this bar at least once after they turn twenty one. The tap is one of the bars I hit up when ever im in down town crystal lake bar hoping. Its a nice change from all the other atmospheres that the crystal lake bar seen has to offer. I have been going to William St. since I turned 21 and I am now 25. I know most of the staff and they are the best feature that bar has. Yes there are fights that break out, but that is what makes going there fun. You never know what will happen next. There are creeps that go there, but there are creeps who go to any bar. I've had worse experiences at Finns, Cottage, and Moretties. I've taken the time to get to know the bartenders, and I know they keep an eye on me when I go there alone without friend, even with friends.
