We had a fantastic time aboard the Skyline Princess this weekend. The highlight of the experience…read morewas the outstanding customer service from start to finish. A special thank you to Adriana, who went above and beyond when we called asking if there would be any way to watch Game 5 of the Knicks playoff run. Rather than giving us a simple yes or no, she took the time to look into it and ultimately arranged to have a TV brought onboard so guests could watch the game during the cruise. That level of customer care is rare and truly made the night memorable. The cruise itself was smooth and enjoyable, with beautiful views, a fun atmosphere, and decent food and drinks. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure everyone had a great experience. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend Skyline Princess to anyone looking for a great night out on the water.

I already knew I would enjoy it because I liked the dinner menu: braised short ribs, fish, chicken, pasta, Caesar salad, potatoes, broccoli, and rolls. The dinner was good. The ride was fun. There were people celebrating birthdays--an 80th and a 50th. We passed under all the major bridges in New York City and saw many iconic buildings and towers. The boat itself seemed a bit older and not quite as fancy as I had expected. They docked at around 10:30 PM, a little earlier than the scheduled 11 PM. The service was good, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. I'd definitely do it again next May--my birthday month.

It is also where many NYC Dragon Boat teams moor their boats, which is how I got involved when I joined a team this year. The annual Dragon Boat Festival in Queens takes place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, but many of the teams do their practices out in Flushing Bay. You can read more about the festival here: http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/china/dragon-boat-festival The marina is in a relatively remote part of Queens on the north side of the elevated portion of Northern Blvd. Even so, it is accessible by car with adequate parking and is within walking distance (1/2 mile) of the Willets Point 7 train stop on the opposite side of CitiField. The reason I give the marina a low rating is because of the disgusting cesspool of pollution that is Flushing Bay! After a rainstorm, all manner of filth ends up washed into the bay from the overflow of the NYC sewer system. http://www.timesledger.com/stories/2014/21/flushingbaysewage_2014_05_23_q.html Ever drive by on the Grand Central Parkway on the way to Laguardia Airport and get a whiff of the stench? That's how you know you're in the right place. It also doesn't help that the Dept of Sanitation just built their brand new Refuse Transfer station on the east side and transfer barges of garbage through there. That's just great, if you're a seagull.

From the moment we boarded, everything felt well-organized and welcoming. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the check-in and seating process smooth. The real highlight, of course, was the view. Seeing the skyline from the water gives you an entirely different appreciation for the city's architecture and scale. Passing by iconic landmarks while listening to the live narration added a lot of depth to the experience. Our tour guide, Andrew, was especially knowledgeable about the history of the city--he shared fascinating facts, stories, and context that really brought each landmark to life, all while keeping things engaging and easy to follow. The boat itself was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space to move around and take photos. Whether you prefer sitting inside or enjoying the open-air deck, there's a good spot for everyone. I especially appreciated how unhurried the cruise felt; there was enough time to soak in each sight without feeling rushed. I'd highly recommend the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise to both visitors and locals--it's a relaxing, informative, and scenic way to see the city from a whole new angle.
