Since I was hosting my family including grandchildren I had a number of questions even as an experienced boater. The team there answered my multiple questions and we set out on Monday, August 4th. John greeted us for the 4-8pm rental and went over every safety regulation including checking my grandchildren's safety vests for Coast Guard approval. John is an enlisted member of the coast guard. Right there you are dealing with a safey conscious boating company. And we had precious cargo on board. John gave clear instructions on boat usage with maps and boating travel limits. We followed every rule and created family memories forever. Upon return we were met by Sean and owner Joe inquiring about our trip. That's impressive. Highly recommend Empire Boat Rentals for a 4 hour or longer excursion along Reynolds Channel with stops for lunch or dinner at water front restaurants from Island Park to Point Lookout. Attended a wedding on the beautiful boat Romantica…read more We definitely felt baller and the trip was fun with friends. We departed from 23rd street, went around Battery Park and up the Hudson to the 70's. Then the Romantica turned around and basically went back, stopping by the Statue of Liberty. Is it romantic? Certainly. Does it ooze luxury? No, but it's still very nice. The food and dinner they serve leaves a little to be desired but perhaps that's just wedding food and boat food all combined.

It turned out to be one of the most lovely summer evenings! Captain Jared and his wonderfully helpful first mate took us on a beautiful trip in Jamaica Bay. We brought food and drinks, which were stored within the vessel, while we sat in the open air. We were able to eat without issue - we brought cheese platters, chips, etc. The boat does have a restroom but no one used it. It was a two hour trip and bay was perfect. The waters were smooth and weather was perfect, I can't think of a better summer adventure. I recommend this highly and I would do it again.

I prepared a special cocktail to share with my boat mates and headed over to the port on my bike happy to enjoy an evening on the water. Usually when booking a boat tour they have boarding time and departure. The tour reservation was 7:30 for a full moon tour, as this is before sunset I assumed this was boarding. I attempted to call to confirm but did not get a response. I left to arrive at 7:15 just in case, however on my way to the dock my tire popped and I had to double back and get a taxi. I called them immediately but no answer, I called again while in the taxi and reached the person taking the boat out. I was 3 minutes away and he said if I arrived in 5 I would make it (this was 7:37) I arrived at 7:40 and attempted to enter but the gates were locked and there was no instructions for entry, I finally got in but they had left seconds earlier. I then got stuck inside the dock for 40 minutes until someone else came because the only way to enter and exit was a clicker I did not have. Overall, the communication was poor and my evening was completely ruined. To add insult to injury I got completely eaten up by misquotes while waiting to leave the dock area. I did not want to leave a bad review but texted all of this and never heard anything back. Feedback to the company: Please add clearer information about the boarding and departure times and please be more clear about how to enter the dock. Thank you. Sad this was the outcome.

My family and I took the 4th of July Fireworks Captree Cruise to Jones Beach Fireworks Show ($65)…read moreon The Island Princess (IP). We purchased our tickets through the website: https://www.islandprincesscaptree.com. The IP is located inside New York's Captree State Park. We put "Island Princess Captree" into Google Maps and it led us straight there. Parking was $8.00 and the parking lot is a good size. The tickets indicated to please arrive at the dock by 6:00pm the latest for check-in and boarding. It was easy to locate the IP and we checked in with a staff member at the bottom of the stairs. The boat left the dock exactly at 6:30pm. About 8:00pm, we anchored and watched the sunset. Till the Grucci Fireworks Show started about 9:30pm, we were able to see fireworks in the distance in all the different towns. The boat tuned into WALK 97.5 FM which simulcasted music during the fireworks presentation. There were music by BTS, Rosé, Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA," and Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA." The Grucci Fireworks Show lasted till about 10:00pm and then the boat headed back to Captree State Park. So many people fell asleep on the way back. Free coffee and other snacks were available for purchase on the boat. My family and I enjoyed the 4th of July Fireworks Captree Cruise to Jones Beach Fireworks Show on the IP. We felt that the other fireworks shows went longer than the Grucci Fireworks Show, but it was still magnificent. It was an event that I've never participated in for the 4th of July, so it was definitely very nice and weather couldn't have been even more perfect. I know the yacht club scene in College Point quite well and spent time at all the clubs. WYC had always stood out as a great archetype for the true premise of these private club cultures. Upon purchasing a sailboat in 2010 I decide to look into WYC based mainly on the fact that they had the deepest water at there slips. I didn't really need to be a member of any club but as it turned out WYC requires membership application for anyone wishing to keep a boat there, so I applied. It's been 4 years now and I am on my 3rd boat since being at WYC. I could not be happier. It's just a great group of friendly, helpful and dedicated people from all walks of life. I am now an A member and quite proud of my new family. We have great parties and now we can host on our brand spanking new expanded deck over Flushing Bay.
