    Having fun!

The experience was wonderful and memorable! Reserve online, show up and paddle away!

Just finished a great weekend in the 16 hour "Basic Sailing" class at the The WaterFront Center.... seriously, could not ask for better weather or better instructors. We had it all in two days.... conditions this weekend ranged from practically no wind , to perfect sailing wind, and then to a choppy 12-15 knots that required reefing the sails....16 hours in the boat, EXCELLENT learning experience! We really got lucky to have all of that in just 2 days... the only thing we missed was rain.... and yes, as a previous poster noted.... they do sail in rain. Since my goal is the sailing certification and later the cruising cert, I actually may go in some crappy weather weekend to learn what I need to know while I have a seasoned instructor to guide me. They use 23' Sonar racing boats with one instructor and 3 students. You know how racing boats lean with the wind (heel)?.... you get to do that enough that you feel comfortable knowing what is happening, how to maintain, and how to get out of it. (Yes..... it is as fun as it looks). I had been dreaming of living on a boat and finally realized the only thing holding me back was that I didn't have the boat.... so.... bought one... despite having no sailing experience. The previous owner helped me sail it for the couple of hours from the old marina to the new and I scheduled a Coast Guard Safety class and then this Sailing class. After 16 hours of sailing this weekend, I am in very good shape to go out and SAFELY build my experience level. Going back in a month or two to take the "intermediate" class and then take the test for the sailing certificate. (allows you to rent sailboats at resorts). They also have a "cruising" class that I want to take before the end of September since sometime, sooner rather than later, I want to sail to Cape Cod. For $300, it is a true bargain.... they taught me enough that I feel comfortable with my boat. The place is ran professionally, everyone that I met was really friendly. There is a water taxi that makes getting out to the boat absolutely painless. They also have kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.... when the high winds kicked up, I was impressed with the way they were on the radios making sure that everyone on the water was accounted for and had a ride in if it was too much for them. Make sure you take a hat, shades, and sun screen.... 16 hours on the water is a lot. Trust me on the sun screen.

I had so much fun kayaking, you get nice views while out there in the water. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Do not go to this place! I mistakenly beached the boat I rented and they tried to charge me over $700 as a result. They are thieves.

Being out on the water gave us a completely different perspective of the surrounding landscape. The pace was relaxed, giving us time to laugh, talk, and enjoy the experience together. It ended up being one of those rare outings that genuinely brought our group closer. Everything was thoughtfully organized. The equipment was in excellent condition, the guides were professional and friendly, the gear guide and instructions were clear, and the entire experience felt effortless from start to finish. Some of us were first-timers, while others were seasoned paddlers, and the guides made everyone feel comfortable and confident from the start. Every person in our group had a wonderful time. By the end of the day, new passions had been sparked, and we were already planning to get back on the water. Whether you're visiting the Hudson Valley or have lived here your whole life, I can't recommend Storm King Adventure Tours enough. It's the kind of experience that reminds you to slow down, find peace, be present with yourself, appreciate where you are, and enjoy the people you're with. We all left smiling, with great photos, lasting memories, and plans to come back.

Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

My friend and I attended the Long Island Wine Tour on Sunday, June 07, 2026. In my booking confirmation, there was a digital waiver that needed to be signed prior to the trip, a lunch form to select a gourmet deli sandwich, list of items to bring, what's included, and the trip itinerary. The lunch options were Turkey, Avocado, & Swiss, Grilled Veggie Sandwich (vegetarian), gluten free: salad (w/ or w/o chicken), or if you prefer to bring your own lunch. I chose the Turkey, Avocado, & Swiss sandwich. On the day of, I went to the pickup location: 41 Union Square W, New York, NY 15 minutes prior to the departure time of 9:00am. Soon after, our tour guide named Joe, told us that the bus was waiting for us around the block since it was too big for the street. The bus had comfy seats, outlets to charge your phone, and a bathroom at the back. After everyone got checked in, Joe introduced herself, gave us a run down of the itinerary, and put on Mrs. Doubtfire while we headed out east. Before we arrived at each winery, Joe told us a little bit about it and what to expect and how long we had at the winery. Lenz Winery was the first winery stop and we were given our sandwich and chips here. The Turkey, Avocado, & Swiss sandwich was a bit dry, but it was something to fill our stomachs. Raphael Winery was the second winery stop. Osprey's Dominion was the third and last winery stop. At each of the wineries, we had several tastings and a bottle of water. My favorite was Raphael Winery. The winery was designed by John Petrocelli who was inspired by the Italian monasteries of his ancestral home and its absolutely beautiful. My friend and I also ordered some food here and it was delicious. A guest in our group even sang in Italian because he was so inspired by the beautiful atmosphere. On the Long Island Wine Tour, we visited 3 award-winning Long Island Wineries on the North Fork region to taste some of the finest vintages in the New York area, had a picnic lunch (a sandwich, chips & bottle of water), received bottle discounts at select vineyards, and round trip transportation from NYC. All the guests in our group were friendly, respectful, and responsible throughout the duration of the trip. Joe kept us on time throughout the trip, but it felt like she was our babysitter and didn't really need to be there. Drop-off was by where they picked us up. Even though I live in Long Island, the Long Island Wine Tour with Sourced Adventures was really fun and it was really nice to enjoy all the wine without worrying about driving. Thank you Sourced Adventures.

Unfortunately, our recent trip with a group of six was extremely frustrating due to the organization and scheduling. Our original time slot was changed because there were not enough groups, which we understood. However, our new 10:20 time slot was expanded to accommodate additional groups, and we were then required to wait an extended period for a very large group that arrived late. As a result, we did not begin rafting until after 12:15, and the safety review had to be rushed because of the delay. Throughout the trip, our group was repeatedly forced to stop and wait for the late group, who frequently fell out of their raft and struggled to follow the safety instructions. I estimate we spent close to an hour collectively waiting along the river. Even the group scheduled after ours eventually passed us, and we did not return to the bus until shortly after 5:00. I want to emphasize that Olivia, Bailey, Kristen, and Sid were excellent guides and did their best under difficult circumstances. My frustration is entirely with the organization and scheduling of the trip. Additionally, while this was outside of anyone's control, we paid for Class II and III rapids, but the river flow that day was approximately 820 CFS, making the experience much closer to Class I and II. I hope you will take this feedback seriously, as this experience was significantly different from the positive experiences that led me to book with White Water Challengers again.

Unless you are medically unfit, you can do this. Exceptional customer service sums up the team at Jim Thorpe River Adventures (aka LOC). They are extremely well organized which makes for a great trip. Everyone from the moment you enter LOC until the very end was polite, professional and wanted to make sure you have a great time. Some tips to follow: you only need to arrive 15 minutes before your group time, this allows ample time to get situated. Buy their pre-made lunch, it is well worth the 10 bucks, bring extra water on the raft (especially in the summer). Use the bathroom before you get on the bus (and be quick). They give you a dry bucket for your lunch and items, yes you can bring your phone in a dry pouch. Wear a hat and a sun shirt, it is hot and sunny, without much shade. Jump in the water when you have the chance !! If you are a "full figured" person it will be difficult to re-enter the raft, be aware. The trip down river is very safe and well organized. The guides are VERY safety aware ! If you are nervous and listen to them, the team will get you down the river without a hitch ! A few suggestions: don't go on a busy holiday weekend, it can get crowded on the river, the safety briefing takes a long time and you a sitting in the sun (remove your vest and drink water), during July and August I would imagine the water is very low and slow (if it is a dry summer)...best only if you want to have a relaxing rafting trip.
