The banquet hall…read morecame with access to the board room and a kitchen area that has a large fridge and a heating cabinet. There aren't any stoves or ovens but there is a decent amount of space as well as a couple of serving windows that face one of the doors to the banquet hall. We got a really good deal for them, but we also rented during the week and I imagine the weekend price is a little higher. The grassy area is a little small, but there is still plenty of space to set up a nice sized event. The barn is a nice blank slate that you can do anything with to jazz it up. Our only complaint about the barn is that one of the doors is painted this really ugly color that makes it stand out in a bad way. You could argue it's rustic, and you can hide it or take attention away from it, but we would have like it to be painted another color. There is no electric at the barn, so if you need power you will have to run extension cords or have battery powered devices. The banquet hall itself is quite large with plenty of space for a large group, or a medium group to have a large dancing area with food tables. We elected to put our food tables in the hall just to maximize space, and there was still plenty of walking space in the hallway. The hallway also has a really nice fireplace with 2 chairs that makes for a great photo spot. The boardroom is a generous size with more electrical outlets than I could see you ever needing. It has a nice sized table and some semi-comfortable chairs. I'm not sure what you have to do to get permission to use but there is also a firepit outside, and that is next to an old post office building that is petite and makes for another great photo spot. Since the community center gets used quite often most of our vendors had been there before and that made it really easy to get them set up. There were some other rooms available and a courtyard area, I can't comment on those but the place itself has a lot to offer and is great for whatever event you need to host!

I didn't look at the other rooms but I posted pictures of the Metzger Room that we rented. The day that we had our party, there was a wedding reception in the banquet hall and a graduation party in the other rooms. Mary and Connie were the contact people and were friendly and nice to work with. They seem pretty flexible and willing to work with your needs. The rental fees were reasonable and it's great because they allow you to bring your own food/caterer. They do require a deposit for damages but they are really fast at returning it after your event. The Metzger room had a fridge and sink which was convenient for preparing food, etc for the party. And it connected to an outdoor patio space. The room was a bit hot on the day we were there & there didn't seem to be a way to control the air but overall the room fit our need.

Sharing my experience with Duke Petting Farm to save you from having to go through the same thing…read more I was having a big cowboy themed party for my boys joint birthday party. So I thought how fun would it be to have a cowboy horse & a petting farm. I Talked with Deb before even booking the party to make sure all the kids would be able to ride the pony. At first I asked for a horse because most of the kids would be around 10-11 years old. I was told a horse would be too hard for the little kids but she would send me a large pony that would be perfect for my age range. I told her no one would be over 120 pounds. She even asked me to put it in an email and I did. I am sharing that email in the photo section. I confirmed this with the owner several times before the party. Fast forward to party day when the problems all began. She sent 2 girls to work my one hour party. The one girl that ran the petting bunny area was EXTREMELY rude to all the little kids. Even rolling her eyes at them when they asked what kind of balloons she could make. She yelled at them multiple times when kids 3 years old were petting the baby bunnies. To a point of me and several parents going in the bunny pen to help. It was so embarrassing that people at my party were being treated this way. Several of the bunnies kept escaping. She yelled at the 3 year old birthday boy when he went to get a second handful of food from the food bucket they bring. She said "you already fed the animals." We tried to talk to her to help change her bad mood but it was the entire time and super disappointing as this was a kids party. The other thing I would like to warn you about is that TONS of the kids were turned away from riding the pony. The girl working said they were too tall. One of the girls was a tiny 10 year old weighing no more that 65 pounds. If height was a requirement I should have been told that before the party. Like I said I discussed this with her multiple times. So only a few little kids got to ride over and over. When you pay over $500 for someone to bring animals to your party you expect at least kind service. I contacted the owner before coming to social media. She said the girl working the party was only 14 years old. While she did say she would talk to her she made all kinds of excuses. I think it would be better to have an adult working something like this. She told me the bigger pony they had used at a different party that day and had problems with so they switched to this one. I understand things happen in life but those are not a customers problem. While I couldn't come to an agreement with the owner I thought I could at least warn all my friends or anyone thinking to book for a party! Stay far away. I wished I would have booked somewhere else. After having the party I had several people recommend Tyler's exotic animals. They said he is much more kid friendly. Just super disappointed that so few kids got to ride the pony & that the other worker that ran the balloons/petting area treated everyone so rotten. It was an awful experience and I have booked lots of big things for events. Never have I had to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism. Truly disappointed.

To earn a moniker of "Mad", you know he was not one to mess around with. The bridge was built in 1931 and crosses the Maumee River. It is a beautiful suspension bridge, that can take your breath away both in the day and at night time.

The little town of Blissfield is located in the same county in Michigan as our residence (Lenawee…read moreCounty). It's a place that's grown on me over the past couple of years. It's a little isolated as it's nowhere near a freeway (though it's on US223)...but that's part of its charm. We'll occasionally drive here for a half-day of enjoyment. Blissfield is a town of just over 3000 people and nothing of major historical significance has ever occurred here. So it's not a place where you'd expect to find a lot of high-profile things to do. And with that in view, you won't be disappointed or overly surprised to find out that's accurate. Having said that, however, Blissfield is a pleasant place to hang out for a morning or an afternoon. Blissfield's claims to fame, such as they are, are the antiques. While those are the major attractions, there's a bit more to it than that. To create the ambiance for a nice day on the town, strolling the vintage, diminutive one-block downtown area is a great start. As mentioned, there are a couple of antique shops that could keep you occupied for hours if you're into that sort of thing (and we are). There's a small Depot Museum with a few open hours on Saturdays that could be a fun stop. There are also several boutique shops on Lane St. that are worth patronizing. My favorite is The Packrat where you can find some fun stuff. One of the best things to do in Blissfield is to spend time in their two lovely parks, Ellis Park and Bachmeyer Park, that straddle opposite sides of the River Raisin. These parks are also where the River Raisin Festival takes place, with its carnival-like atmosphere. There's a Bluegrass Festival that also takes place in Bachmeyer Park. I've never been to it but have heard good things. There are some good restaurants in town. Lena's serves up good Italian fare. And their canopy-covered side patio is great in the summer. Beckey's offers some great comfort food, especially with the specialty sweet breads that they feature. Blissfield Coney Island downtown also offers comfort fare in a vintage space. Starling Lounge is a good coffee shop by day and a bar by night. And Emmy's Kitchen presents some wonderful baked treats. Because of lack of proximity to a highway and no major business in town, there are no hotels in Blissfield. But there are a couple of B&Bs that are interesting. The H.D. Ellis Inn and the Blissfield Bed and Breakfast both look like nice places to spend a weekend. Blissfield could be a lovely place to spend a bit of time. Hopefully, this review gives some thoughts that could help with that.

Cruisin' Zeake was there providing music and making announcements, there was a silent auction, bake sale, t-shirts for sale to commemorate the event, food trucks, and 50/50 raffle. We went into the museum to check it out and there was a lot more than just cars and trucks on display. This is a "museum" for sure!

They also have live theater performances. I was lucky enough to catch Come From Away. A great fun evening of theater. Full concession stand with huge buckets of popcorn available.
