This was my first time here, so I wasn't sure where to go. The road that goes around & over the dam is closed until Aug 2024, so I just took the only other option. I ended up at the boat launch, and it's a great place for pics! Plenty of ducks & pretty scenery! Still, it's a short hike to the bridge down the Comanche path. We weren't able to go much farther as the rain had made the path quite muddy. We will go back sometime to explore further. Hidden Gem in Texas Hill Country…read more Waldo's Camp on the Colorado River in Columbus, TX, is by far my favorite RV Campground in Texas. If you are looking for a place to go for a quiet and relaxing break from your kids then this is the place to be. Waldo's is right on CO River and has only 9 spacious RV spots with full hookups. Cellular signals are strong, many free HD antenna channels, and if you desire more, wifi is also available. Location couldn't be better, it's like camping out in the country on a ranch with big beautiful old oak trees. We camp every Spring in Texas Hill Country and this is the most relaxing and enjoyable campground we've found, I've already made future reservations before we depart tomorrow. The area is full of history for you history buffs. In 30 miles or less you can drive to Fayetteville, Round Top, & La Grange.

The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. It has an AC and heater combo, a small fridge with a tiny freezer, sink and cabinets, a coffee pot, microwave, and a single burner. There is also a fire pit outdoors and a small BBQ pit. Guests should be prepared to bring their own bedding, dishes, pots, pans, coffee mugs, and other essentials. The view from the cabin is wonderful, and it is hard to find anyone unfriendly at this Ranch. We attended a fun paint and wine event, which was a lot of fun. Mark was the artist he is very talented and a lot of fun! The sunset at the lake is beautiful. The stars in the night sky are bright and beautiful. There are also plenty of RV spots and tents sites available. I can't wait to go back.

The park also features rentable covered picnic pavilions, which serve as great gathering places for family reunions, company picnics and other get-togethers. In addition, there is a large playground and guests are permitted to ride horses on the premises. The only times I have been here are with Things Ones' troop to go camping. There are many sites for rent to go camping here. When camping, visitors may come into close contact with deer and other wildlife. Although there can at any point be many visitors to this park, visitors will feel there is enough room to breath which is a welcomed change in this area of Central TX that has become a boom town. #bewellcentraltx

Heads up -- this is a pebble beach. So, it's not great for babies or small toddlers. Just call it…read more"Choking Hazard Beach." My 18-month-old hasn't been mouthing stuff as much lately so we gave it a go. He did OK but eventually did put a pebble in his mouth. The pebbles are also tricky to walk on. They get really hot so water shoes or sandals help. The pebbles will then inevitably get inside your shoes and annoy your feet. Bathrooms were reasonably clean. Pretty large parking area. $5 day use fee. Paying was a bit awkward since we had to scan a QR code, park and pay, and then go show the guy that we paid. Don't know if this is temporary due to some malfunction. Cool having a beach option relatively close, even if it's not sand. I believe there may be some hiking and camping at this particular park as well but I only came here for the beach.
