Last week, Brenda and Todd each provided such prompt and competent service they deserve special recognition. I spoke to Brenda mid-afternoon on Thursday, May 12, describing a problem with our riding lawn mower (worked perfectly all of last season and started easily the day before I called but when I tried to release the brake, the engine would die).  I suspected the interlock requiring the brake to be set. Not only did Brenda accurately relay to Todd my description (which became obvious when speaking with Todd the next day}, she said she could have the unit picked up the next day, Friday May 13.  Based on prior experience of how busy businesses like Diuble's are in the spring, I had expected a couple weeks delay just for you to pick it up. She also said she would ask the technician to at least quickly check the unit in an attempt to identify the problem. We did not hear or see the truck and trailer arrive.  The first thing we heard was a loud backfire from the unit.  By the time I could greet Todd, he had diagnosed and repaired the problem which was no mean feat.  A splice of wires I had made years ago to bypass the interlock otherwise requiring someone to be on the seat to engage the blades  or transmission had loosened enough to not make contact.   However, the splice was concealed by tape which therefore appeared perfectly fine. But "Detective Todd" was not deceived by appearances and quickly found the problem. So instead of needing to retain a lawn service for a month (which I expected to be the case when the problem occurred},  I mowed our lawn later Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after first speaking to Brenda !!!!!!!!! I wanted to add my 5-star+ review for Thompson's. Our fridge broke down on a Sat. We lost SO much food during the night! We called another company with "six locations and a coupon" who said they could fix it "Tuesday". On Monday, they called and pushed that back to Thursday. Their voice mail said if we didn't call them to confirm this, they wouldn't come out, even then. That's when I found Thompson's. I called at 10am. Got a call back within 15 mins tops. The tech was here less than four hours later. He knew the problem right away. Had the exact part and we were off and running less than one hour later. He really knew his stuff. Thanks Dave! As an FYI, be sure to call their number on their Yelp page and not the service number on their website. I know that whenever they can, they will take care of your appliance repair the same, business day. We are SO happy with Thompson's and would recommend them to anyone. All our appliances are getting "up in years", so I have a feeling we'll be calling them again soon. Their prices are fair and quoted up front. There are no "hidden fees". My elderly mother found this company online and figured they were a reputable business, she had a…read morerefrigerator that wasn't staying cold and she assumed the thermostat needed fixed. They came out and charged $120 for a service call, and said he took Cash App, Venmo or cash, and then told her she needed a part that cost $286.79 and said he would return. He did NOT return and she had to call them repeatedly and finally got ahold of what I assume was the "boss" he said he needed the money for the part before he would come out, she sent the money. A week goes by and she hears nothing, almost another week goes by and she calls them back again, and asks when they were coming back because her refrigerator was not being able to be used. She finally asked to just be refunded for the part because nothing was fixed and he ghosted her. So she was ripped off almost $300.00 and nothing was done. She had to call another repair service and pay for the part again. I wouldn't recommend these scam artist to my worst enemy. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
