Pure Greed: leaving a bad review. I am frustrated with this place. rent goes up every year. you are nickeled and dimed to death. its pure greed easy as that. its dirty, smells and dilapidated. also want to mention paying rent on their system. will not let split payments with your different accounts. meaning if you pay with two different checking accounts its not allowed. also no security cameras, cars are broken into and my packages are stolen. the people here do not care about keeping the place clean. the building smells rotten meat, the garbage shoot is full of old stuck on food . cleaning company does a lousy job on cleaning. soon there will be bugs! so none of this is addressed. i hope to be out by then. read more

I lived here for 7 years. The apartments themselves are fine, but I wish I could have moved out sooner. It's hard when rent increases all the time, and they try to nickle and dime you time and time again. The headache that you get from management is not worth it though. Here are a few anecdotes to help determine how much you want to do deal with it: I once recommended someone to rent an apartment there because they offer a reward for referrals. They refused to honor it on a technicality. My first year I was offered a free indoor parking spot in the garage. I asked a few days ahead of time, and they said I could turn in the garage key anytime in the next few weeks. A couple days later, I found an additional charge on my rent for an extra month of a parking space because they told me I could hold onto it beyond the 1st of the month. My final rent payment was only for the first 5 days of the month, but it was listed on their payment portal for a full month on the 1st. I had two separate employees blame me for not reminding them for a third time that I was moving out, and offered me no free alternatives to pay, and the portal does not allow the payment amount to be changed, so I had to spend additional money just to pay them my rent. I have now moved out and they are charging me hundreds of dollars for normal wear and tear and some things that were broken when I moved in. Some things to consider when applying: They generally do apartment inspections multiple times per year. They renovate, but really only for things that they can try to sell you on for signing. Walk around the property to some of the areas you might not see right away. There are mud pits in every patch of grass except the ones around the office. The dog park hasn't been mulched in years. These complaints weren't always the case, but they have gone downhill. Don't put yourself through all of this. read more

WARNING! I AM OUT OF APPROXIMATELY $6000 BECAUSE I MADE A BAD DECISION TO MOVE HERE AND OVER LOOK THE HORRIBLE THINGS ABOUT THE APARTMENT! I would rate it a zero if that's was an option! I moved into Willow Crossing in July 2022 and moved out December 10, 2022. My son suffered asthma attacks after we moved in and they refused to allow to break my lease so I had to pay more than $4400 to buyout the lease. The manager was nice as they did replace the molded vanity but that wasn't enough. The apartment did not live up to my expectations as I was paying $2250 a month for what felt like a run down project apartment. The police was there at least 5 times and once in swat gear with rubber bullets. The fire alarm went off 3 times in the middle of the night. Not to mention the mold that infested our space. The apartments are full of MOLD, rotting door frames, buckling ceiling from excessive moisture and the antiquated hotel air conditioning and heating units that blew mold spores in the air. These apartments seemed like they were filled with people who did not care about their home or surroundings. The garbage bins were empty, yet people would leave bags of trash outside the garbage dumpster, once there was a mattress laying in the pathway of the building. I DO NOT, DO NOT recommend Willow Crossing as they spent money on creating a visually appealing image with all the amenities however that's not what you get in an actual living space. read more

0/5 stars. They have black mold growing in the walls. I noticed I had a hard time breathing in my bedroom and I started coughing. I had to go to the pulmonary doctor and get an inhaler that I still need to this day and I don't even live there anymore. I noticed water damage and told the leasing office. When I asked them to do something about the mold they said "its just mildew not mold". "Just get a dehumidifier". The maintenance man came 2 days later and just stared at the wall and said "thats not mold, you're good". He didn't do anything... he just looked at what I was looking at and said there's no problem and left. A couple days later there are bubbles of water protruding out of my wall and I popped it and brown liquid oozed out. I have videos and pictures of all of this which I included but Yelp won't let me post videos. I peeled back the paint and there is black mold all over the inside of the dry wall. I go back to the leasing office and show them the pictures and videos and they STILL tell me its NOT mold just mildew. They tell me the maintenance man put in his notes that I "refused service". They were lying to cover their tracks for neglecting my complaints and doing nothing. The leasing office lady, Kaitlyn told me the "supervisor" of the maintanence office will call me. He calls me like 3 days later and I have a 15 minute conversation of him just arguing with me and telling me I'm wrong and that its not mold and that they will NOT be testing it for mold because there's "no need for that". Mind you, this man hasn't even seen the wall that we're discussing. I have this whole conversation recorded. He said the most they will do is have his painters come and paint over it but by this point I was already moving out. I also got a mold test myself since they wouldn't do it. But I got the one from Home Depot because to get someone from a mold company to come out and test it is a lot of money and the lady said the owner of the property has to be the one to get it tested so even if I had the money I wouldn't be able to with out their permission (which they were telling me no). So, I tested it with a petri dish myself and it grew a lot of mold in one day which I also have a picture of. So, if you are planning to move here, don't. You will be breathing in mold and if you have any problems, they will not help you. Instead, they will argue with you and treat you like you're stupid. They also try to get every penny out of you that they can. They are condescending, unproffesional and rude. read more

Roaches everywhere! It's been nearly a year of "treatment" and I still see them damn near every day. In my unit, in the hallway, in the laundry room. The garbage room is overflowing on a weekly basis. Black mold in the air conditioners and cabinets. Maintenance will tell you it's "water damage". Neighbors chain smoke inside all day long. Constant screaming domestic situations in the parking lot, the units, all hours of the night. The fire department is here 3 times a week. Neighbor shooting fireworks out of their apartment window. Packages are stolen constantly, our catalytic converters were stolen from both of our vehicles. Google "Willow Crossing Elk Grove Village roof" and you'll see that the roof blew off one of the buildings last year. Later that same year a pipe burst in the same building's parking garage and flooded it. Destroying everyone's cars. Everyone who works here lies through their teeth. This is the worst place I've ever lived. Moving out in a few months thank god. read more

Poor maintenance. All my rooms ceiling grown mold and can cause me and my family to get sick. I have cleaned multiple times and it continues to grow back. My bathroom ceiling is also growing mold and a brown liquid falls from the ceiling to my bathtub. My air conditioner/heater is growing mold as well causing the carpet to stain. read more

I have been a resident of Willow Crossing Apartments for 8 years. Below is an example if my experience: This morning I woke up to our winter wonderland outside. I noticed that the parking lots had been cleaned but the front entrance to the building was full of snow and slush.  Within minutes, I heard the service vehicle driving up to the building and one of our amazing service workers cleaning the front of the building. Even on an early Saturday morning, the maintenance staff is hard at work.  I want to thank you and your staff for maintaining the apartments and grounds in the same way I myself would keep my home.  Have a good day and thank you again. read more

Please do yourself a favor and do not move here. The staff and management are horrible. The "accountant" Dani makes errors often; so please triple check your charges. They are lazy when it comes to looking for your packages and are very argumentative when you request them to double check. I lived here for three years and the staff was horrible to deal with. Ever since Willow Crossing was taken over by Marquette Management the new office staff has left a HUGE GAP in the friendliness and courtesy department. When entering the office for any reason, you don't get a look up from their desk, not a "Hello!", not a greeting, not a "Can I help you?!" -- Nothing. It's like they all took an "Anti-Customer Service" training class. Not saying the previous crew was perfect, but you could at least count on being greeted when you came you came through the door, instead of residents being treated as if they're an intrusion. Have *literally* had instances of walking into the office and not being acknowledged by the staff in any way -- leaving me to wonder.. "Am I invisible?" Invest in some friendly faces and "Common Courtesy" classes, Marquette.. the current staff's way rates a Zero. read more

If I could give a ZERO star rating I would. This is the worst management staff company I have ever heard of. Marquette Management is a joke and will not work with you whatsoever. They will rob you of every cent that they can. First let me apologize for not writing this review sooner. Second I'll get into why this place is a hell hole. The staff in the office office can be nice but the actual management is trash. The gym is a joke and is always packed with unsupervised children. There are bugs EVERYWHERE!! These aren't just thousands of ants.. we had those in the kitchen and bathrooms.. I'm talking about disgusting super quick centipedes and they're impossible to get rid of! They blend in with the carpet and they're huge! We would find them in our bed or crawling across our hand while sleeping. So disgusting. They still give me nightmares. We had maintenance come spray so many times and it did absolutely nothing. They're infested with them! Another thing was the mold everywhere and all that maintenance would do is spray bleach and it would come back a few weeks later. I was constantly getting sick from the mold. They will try to lock you in to your lease for another year. MAKE SURE YOU GIVE A 60 DAY WRITTEN NOTICE TO VACATE or they will screw you over!!!! It costs like 1,600 or something. They won't send you a notice to give notice so you can forget about that. When I called about paying my last month's rent they said my lease was still going for 6 more months. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I have it in my lease.. turns out they had multiple leases with different dates and guess who was liable to pay for THEIR mistake. Yeah me and my roommates. So if I were you I wouldn't waste my time or money. The grass is full of dog crap and they never clean it up, the apartment complex smells like stinky feet everyday, the mail will never get to you, the laundry machines are always broken down for days on end plus they're expensive, the pools not heated and it's always closed when you would want to use it, the lease officers and accountant are the only kind people. Never ever talk to that Douchebag Jim or whatever his name is from Marquette. He is the RUDEST person I've ever spoken to. He freaked out at me on the phone because I said that it wasn't our fault that they had multiple leases and dates for our move out I wanted to come to a fair agreement but he freaked out and wouldn't even talk about it and I said that based on the fact that they wouldn't work with us -- I'd have to give an honest review.. next thing I know he's freaking out "you're threatening me! You're threatening me!!!" So yeah that guy has some major issues and should be reported to Marquette corporate again for verbal abuse and harassment. This went on for 30 minutes of him just yelling at me. He needs to lose his job. Just save yourself hassle, time, and money that you hadn't planned on spending and live somewhere else. Also - they will charge you a random $100 from your security deposit when you move out so don't plan on getting the full thing back. Good Luck! Good Riddance! I will not be speaking to anyone but Marquette Management and I will only talk to them if they are willing to pay me back what's owed to me. I would never recommend this community to anyone. The Property Manager acts in a manner that is conceited, pompous and completely oblivious to delivering good customer service. Rather, the PM will stay in his office and let his team handle complaints. When he does, he is just down right rude. Due to the inability to communicate in an effective manner, 50+ cars were towed this morning to complete an asphalt project. The information circulated was obtuse and highlighted information that would lead residents to park in differnent areas. When asked, one employee indicated that "it's the responsibility for the resident to learn to read". When shown the letters distributed, they could not understand why there was a line of people outraged as to why their cars were towed. This is a community with children and noone even communicated where the temporary drop off points for the school buses would be re-located. In addition, the community is made out of several residents in which English is not the first language. Rather than communicate the message in English, Spanish and the most common Indian language, they indicated that it would be to much work. Asked to put a very simple notice on the front doors of the buildings that are affected by the work, it was relayed it would be too much work and they would send an email. This is not, and should not, be the all and be all method of communication. As it relates to the customer service the PM shows a very poor attitude towards this responsibility and in doing so, this information is communicated to the team members. Communication should be consistent and optimal on all levels. This leadership has made it clear that is not the case and would rather give up renewals than deal with current residents - it's too much work. The sincere compliment that I would extend would be to Amber, Wally and John are members of the team that do EXCELLENT in working with residents and should be applauded for their efforts. The commuity is deluged with fire trucks, police, ambulances and tow truck companies that come to property so often that it suggests a larger problem that the management is not addressing. The property is listed as a "luxury" property. This is a joke! This property is a C property in a fairly isolated part of the city. This is not and should not be taken as a luxury property. The Management Company is taking steps to address the issues that have been neglected. However, this will only elevate the property to a point that they can ask for the rent that they are currently charging (which is too high for what is received). Rental increases are on the horizon and does not negate the work that should have been done and was not done. I would akin this to a a runner getting new shoes: the old pair was broken in but the new ones actually get the job done. All in all, I am going to copy and paste this review to a few other sites in an effort to bring attention to the situation and give the discerning resident a heads up that the management and the community is not worth or living up to the hype. read more

Horrible management. I moved out and was billed for "damages" they kept my 400$ deposit and on top of that was charging me another 400$ for carpet replacement. When I moved in I was told the carpet was not new and to write everything down that was wrong and notice. The carpet was stained. And now they are telling me the carpet was new when we moved in and its worn out now that's why they have to replace it. Would not do anything about it saying that they going of paperwork, so unprofessional and bad customer services. read more
