The new management make it clear it is their property' and they will do whatever they want. The raised the rent over 40% so nearly every tenant, many who have lived here for decades, will be forced to move when their lease terms. They don't care who they inconvenience as they "remodel" the property to the point where I was told I have to leave my apartment for 2-3 days to accommodate THEM. They also refuse to accept any liability for what may happen while the subcontractors are in my home. As if that wasn't bad enough, I will lose 2 days pay since I work from home and have no other options. Life is too short to have a landlord who treats their tenants so poorly. Life without functioning refrigerator drawers isn't the end of the world, but recent circumstances make it feel more important. Lease not renewed due to all apartments being gutted and renovated. Yet, at move out, we were still asked to perform basic cleaning tasks. I personally vacuumed closets, along baseboards, and even the air vents. I used de-greaser around the range hood and stove. A $95 cleaning fee was taken out of my friend's deposit for required "deep cleaning." I'm sorry, what? Even if you weren't going to completely renovate the apartment, you still have to clean it. Pictures were emailed of the issue, none of which falls under the description of "abuse" or "misuse" in the lease agreement. They also kept $5 for a mystery key. If you plan to live in your apartment and have every day dirt and soil, plan on them keeping at least a portion of your deposit.
