I echo the above review concerning Alzheimer's. My husband and I were given many reassurances, but in the end, there were almost daily calls about how they could not handle behaviors. There were vague insinuations that my father in law would be kicked out. We had to change hospice agencies and the new agency informed us that they walked in to him covered in stool and appearing in pain. Both of my in laws were there, but we moved my mother in law due to repeated falls and their requirement that we hire an independent aide. She was not being well cared for. The final straw came when they sent the wrong person to the new facility where we were transferring my mother in law!!! I am so unhappy with the new management. My father in law died and the person who was staffing the memory care unit had no idea that he died (she asked us if we had asked my father in law for his permission before we entered his room to remove his belongings.) We are still waiting for any sort of condolences from the executive director. (He called and asked where we wanted a reimbursement check sent without even a sorry for your loss.) Please don't use this facility for your loved ones.

However, as a person with a disability whose last family member only recently passed away I'm aware that at some point I may need another level of care and support. Marquette, a Life Plan retirement community, is one of Central Indiana's better options. I've experienced Marquette in a multitude of ways - from visits to chaplaincy to friends who have lived (and continue to live) here to my own experiences. Marquette is located on Indy's northwest side. It's on a 47-acre wooded campus that offers independent living, assisted living, a health campus, short-term rehab, and memory care. They're getting ready to create a new area called "The Commons" to create a pickleball area (I really need to try that sometime), a lounge, a grilling area and more. As you enter Marquette (which used to be known as both Marquette Manor and Marquette Senior Living), you pass through a monitored gate entrance. I believe it's 24/7 and I've never been here when someone wasn't present. It helps to know the names of the different areas as signage is really geared more toward community than commercial. The different areas are clearly defined. This is a wooded setting with trails, a small lake, and an abundance of parking (though I'll say one deficit is that finding accessible parking if you're not a resident is difficult at times). Services include transportation (shopping, medical, events/outings), valet parking, bi-weekly housekeeping and weekly flat linen, healthcare at the on-campus Lynne O'Day Clinic, maintenance, lawn care, snow removal, emergency call systems, pendants w/GPS tracking, expanded basic cable/internet, all utilities (except phone), and free wifi throughout campus. Assistance in living is extra. Amenities include a variety of dining options in pretty amazing settings. This is a "facility," yet so often I'm amazed at what they've done to make it not feel like one. There's a more formal dining room, casual grill, outdoor dining area, and even a "Township Tavern." Marquette has an athletic center run by the National Institute of Fitness and Sports. There are wellness programs run by two full-time, on-site personal trainers. There's a performing arts center, on-campus BMO Harris banking, a massage studio, guest suites for visitors (and private dining room areas), a woodworking shop, a business center, a chapel (that accommodates different faiths), walking/biking trails, a gift shop, and Marquette is pet friendly (small pets). Marquette, of course, has all the usual stuff - library, billiards, patio space, gardens. I've never had a bad experience here. Employees are well dressed, friendly, helpful, and discreet with personal assistance. They are protective of residents, however, it feels like almost "Disney" in a way. It's like friendly yet very definite. I've gotten the feeling more than once that these employees would kick your a** if you tried to hurt one of their residents. The front desk people are helpful and knowledgeable. The website features a wealth of knowledge about community including strong knowledge about costs (Yes, it's expensive. Every retirement community is but I love that they're open about this kind of information). There are very few retirement settings where I think "I could live here," but Marquette is definitely one where I think "I could live here." I dread the day when I may actually need more help, but if I reach that point I sure hope I can find a place like Marquette to live.

I started making phone calls and when I spoke with the staff at Home Instead, someone from the office came and met with me the next day. She was comforting and knowledgeable. I started feeling like things would be ok. Once I met the aide, she was so kind and she just knew what to do, It felt like instant relief and a weight lifted. They are able to fill in when we can't. They have truly made this awful time bearable.

They are not professional. They argue with you on phone and don't call back. They don't answer…read morequestions. They don't call you to tell you caregiver is not coming! They don't hire professional caring people. I've had 2 care providers, one was nice, but neither really had any training. Cargiving is supposed to help the family not stress it even more! I've only had services for 2 months! Tracy is rude and mean on phone to me the costumer. She didn't call to tell me no caregiver or to answer questions. Skip her boss was suppose to call and didn't either! Receptionist didn't care about me out had any answers and was not nice. Do yourself a favor hire another company that actually cares about you and your family! It is so stressful for a family member to have another new caregiver to come in to bath them, seeing them naked. It is already an embarrassment for person receiving care.So company really should be super nice and grateful. It is our money or insurance that keeps then in business. The Executive Director who had been there for 5+ years and who really made it the Caring Place it USED TO BE was fired in January. The chef who was lovely and very talented left as well. The food quality plummeted, the public hallway lighting was dimmed, the staff is no longer acquainted with the residents, the activities diminished, the laundry is lost or forgotten on a regular basis, housekeeping is hit or miss. Local management has no authority and every question or request is met with, "I can't answer that. I'll have to get with corporate." The answers never come. Rent for Mom's last month's stay was paid by ACH in May as normal and then taken from her account AGAIN in June. This was an obvious error, but I fought for 10 days with local and regional management to have the charges reversed. They refused. I finally was able to reverse the charge thru the bank. DO NOT TRUST YOUR LOVED ONES TO GRAND VICTORIAN OF ZIONSVILLE.

Grand Brook was one of the first and I worried my aunt needed more activity and action during the day. I went with a different place and it will be one of the biggest regrets of my entire life. I moved my aunt to Grand Brook at the end of April. I was desperate and just didn't know what to do and not wanting to make another mistake I spend half a day watching activities and lunch. I kind of just popped in after talking to Mark, who works in community relations. He invited me to come check them out. I fell in love. The people at Grand Brook really do care. The front office staff are all hands on when needed. It's what I liked best. I loved that they jumped in and helped whenever needed. I spent a lot of time there and am regretful my aunt didn't get to live long enough to take advantage of the family like feel. The facility had a home like feeling. She had a large room with roommate and there is a living room area where they gather to watch TV. The dining area is right in the kitchen so everyone can see the chef and see and smell the food being prepared. They always made sure my aunt ate something. She needed a lot of help as the days went on. She wasn't there long, but many of the staff really fell in love with my aunt. There were 36 residents, but I feel like they really give a personal touch. They of course can have staffing issues, but I never felt like it was too noticeable. The CNAs work hard and are always friendly. I realized more staff is better, because they all keep each other in check. This wasn't true at our last place. Several of the CNAs cried with me and comforted me when my aunt died. I spend the last two weeks there 12 plus hours a day and so many of the CNAs would pop in to just check on us. We had hospice, but we didn't really seem them as much. When we needed to move Mark and Karletta, the head nurse went out of the way to help me get my aunt moved over as soon as they could. I visited April 19th and my aunt was in her new home April 26th. No one in our entire 6 month journey from her fall and break of her femur helped us like Mark and Karletta. I will be forever grateful for them. I wish we had moved sooner, but I was worried about making another wrong move. My aunt was just getting settled and enjoying her time. I never worried about if she ate or did she get a snack she liked. I knew she was being well cared for at Grand Brook. The facility has 36 residents. 18 on each side. The activities are on one or the other, but the activity director always made sure everyone was involved and helped people back and forth. I liked if my aunt had made friends she could dine on either side. Usually my aunt was so friendly, but she was really struggling with Alzheimer's and some agitation. But as she she got comfortable she became happier. She liked having new friends. The garden and patio area outside is just amazing. They work so hard and making it beautiful! We spend some good times out there. She loved it outside and I was so happy we had that time. My only tiny complaint was the wifi issues. But I noticed my cell phone didn't really work even outside. It's kind of a weird area. My aunt didn't spend much time in her room anyway. She just liked to have her Alexa and tv hooked up and we were going to look into something, but never got that far. I always made something play and so did the CNAs and that was good enough for my aunt. She wasn't as picky about what she watched later. A lot of family and friends came to visit at the end and everyone really liked Grand Brook. My sisters were amazed how nice everyone was. The CNAs at the last place wouldn't talk to us. They also didn't talk to my aunt. But we never had that issue at Grand Brook. They treated my aunt like a person. They treated us like family. I would never hesitate to have a family member live at Grand Brook.

Such a caring staff that really honors "Aging in Place" even if it requires extra care beyond what…read moremost assisted livings will provide. But then again this is not just another assisted living. This facility was one of the first to start temperature screening when COVID started. They also started limiting outside healthcare workers and worked to have consistency with outside health services to limit the risk of exposure. Because of this quick forward thinking they were able to keep COVID out of the building for a year!!! Even then the cases they have had were very mild with less then a handful of lives lost to COVID. That is impressive!! This facility also has Safely You available in all of their apartments...a great program to reduce falls and improve response time. The leadership and staff are not afraid to think outside of the box at processes that improve the lives and safety of their residents. I feel very good recommending Traditions North Willow for anyone looking for assisted living care...it is an excellent place to land.
