Disappointing Ethics and Neglect at Sanford School…read more Sanford School markets itself both as a premier educational and athletic institution, but our firsthand encounter has been far from satisfactory. I am deeply saddened, and disappointed in the lack of integrity, ethics, equity and professionalism displayed by Sanford School. Particularly in President Mark Anderson, and their girls' basketball program under Coach Marcus Thompson. Firstly, Coach Thompson's unethical practices have marred what should be a fair, equitable and enjoyable sporting experience for young female athletes. Coach Thompson has blatant disregard for DIAA rules and DE State laws. His commited offenses of Illegal recruiting practices, mental abuse, verbal degradation, and playing favorites are just some of the major issues never addressed by leadership. These are frequent daily occurrences and systemic issues going back as far as 15 years. They tarnish the integrity of the sport and the overall well-being of the players/students. When confronted about these issues, Coach Thompson, Pat Jones(AD), and Mark Anderson resort to gaslighting tactics. Attempting to discredit concerned parents by labeling them as "crazy". This behavior creates a toxic environment for the players and their families. When I raised my concerns with the administration, including AD Pat Jones and President Mark Anderson, instead of addressing the presented documented evidence of misconduct, I was met with dismissiveness and deflection. Rather than investigating the valid complaints brought forward by multiple families, they chose to vilify the concerned parents, portraying them as irrational and problematic. Furthermore, the lack of response and action from President Mark Anderson despite multiple complaints and emails from over 10+ families is disheartening. Despite the numerous families voicing their grievances and providing substantial proof of wrongdoing, the administration has chosen to turn a blind eye. It is evident that the school prioritizes the success of its basketball program (including the focus on revenue-driven recruitment tactics) over the well-being and fair treatment of its students and their families. Promises of basketball success and a great educational experience are nothing but empty words, as the reality paints a starkly different picture. As a paying "customer" of Sanford School, I expected transparency, fairness, and accountability from the leadership. Instead, what we have encountered is negligence, evasion of responsibility, and a blatant disregard for ethics and the law. It is clear that the school's focus is on revenue generation rather than upholding its values and providing a safe and nurturing environment for its students. In conclusion, I urge prospective parents and students to carefully consider their options before choosing Sanford School. The issues within the girls' basketball program and the leadership's refusal to address them reflect a deeper problem of misplaced priorities and lack of integrity within the institution. Our family can't say enough great things about the school. There are small class sizes, friendly kids and families, an amazing group of staff, and great community events that everyone is always so warming and welcoming to new faces.

Wife and I are invited to a wedding up in Delaware. I warn her that when the whole wedding thing is…read moreover there is not much to do that I know of in Wilmington on a Sunday (looks like the old Blue Laws are still in effect) so we are not going to spend the day up there sightseeing, the city is just a tiny bit larger than Rockville. The Church is open though and very receptive to the wedding party and guess. Everything was running well the pastor presented the invited guess with a very nice not too long ceremony along with some humorous antidotes. The church is of typical mid century mod design, it was built in 1965 nothing fancy but well kept and it serves it's real purpose looks like it can hold a couple of hundred people. No it is not a mega stadium sized church on steroids just a nice small more intimate place for the local populace. This is what makes things nice cause everybody knows everybody there by name and history. Very family oriented and warm to us outsiders. They have an auxiliary building in which the reception was held. Apparently this is a multi purpose room with cinder block walls for everything from basket ball to a event room complete with kitchen and food prep area. However this being a old school church (remember 1965) there was no air conditioning in there so it was hot as hel.. oopps sorry... it was very hot in there. Still the community member church was able to continue the celebration of the newlyweds there to allow everything to continue without too many hiccups in spite of the heat. Note: you also need a real sound system in there not just a boom box hooked up to a couple of small speakers in addition to a air conditioner unit. Outside of these two structures lies a barn with a really BIG black walnut tree beside it, that was dropping nut bombs right and left. So that was the highlight of our visit to Delaware beside the wedding of course. We gathered a lot of black walnuts after the whole thing was over. I'll use them to make some black walnut ice cream.

Our family enjoyed Bible class from Trinity at The Well. Pastor Robert is the best Biblical teacher…read morewe ever heard. My daughter loved Bible classes with Pastor Debbie. We bought Big D's fabulous ribs consistently & even celebrated our anniversaries there! I appreciated how The Well, through Trinity Church, merged Biblical principles in our community with purpose and love. Once Pastor Steve, however, moved all the adult and children teachings to a school; dedicating time and resources on building a brand new construction everything changed for the worse. I saw a big shift toward fund raising for the new church, instead of helping and empowering our community. It made me uncomfortable and sad and so we left. Our family, however, will always be grateful to the staff at The Well and will never forget their kindness and good works

We found that home in Trinity Community Church. The leadership embraced us, shortcomings and all. We were quickly offered opportunities to serve and to meet other members of the Trinity Family. Over the past two years, my husband and I have each developed meaningful friendships with other church members, and our grown daughters are treated like members of the family as well. No church is perfect - we're all just a bunch of broken people, after all. However, we find solid Biblical teaching, humility from the leadership, transparency from church leaders and members, and countless opportunities to serve make Trinity Community Church a haven for our us in a crazy world.
