The teachers and staff are passionate about providing high-quality care using the Montessori method. As parents, we appreciate the communication from the teachers AND staff. The parent community at Little City is so strong and families have developed strong connections through the school. Throughout the year, my son learned to be independent, took pride in his work, and applied many of his learnings at home. He began putting his shoes away in their place, hanging his coat on the hook by himself, setting the table during dinner, and wanting to help out while we cook in kitchen. His growth over the last year has been so impressive!

The school communicates clearly, openly and inclusively on all matters regarding the health, safety and growth of the children. They treat their employees with respect and support --- and it shows through how they in turn treat all children/parents. They are rooted in and supportive of the community that surrounds the school. Definitely a gem within the neighborhood and city! I highly recommend this as a place to entrust your child's learning and development.

I still remember the first day I dropped my twins and my son threw up in the first 5 mins after I left while crying. Miss H was so sweet to take care of it all while she knew I was right outside in my car waiting for it to happen and take them back home. They helped the kids from when they were 17 months to when they finally left them. I am so grateful to all the wonderful teachers the school carefully hires and Miss Vicky, who I really admire for her passion to help develop the little ones as a person. This place is a safe second home for all. I can't thank them enough...Thanks Miss V and MCH staff.

It was the first day so we weren't aware that the school's open hours are not the same as the assigned hours for your child. It was a precursor for what was to come. In the 1 month my daughter attended here, she was sent home 4 separate times for having a runny nose, even though she was not sick. Each time she was not allowed back without a doctor's note. Each time, the doctor said she was healthy and fine. I had to watch my daughter for 13 days that month--shuttling her to doctors to get a note to satisfy the mad woman running this place. All the while, I'm paying this place (and the doctors) and hoping my work wouldn't fire me. When I brought up the ridiculousness of the policy with an email, the head kicked my daughter out of the school. The idea that the people here care about your child is a farce. Leaving this place was a blessing. If the toxic fumes from the adjacent auto repair shops are not enough for you to avoid this place, I hope my caution here gives some insight to the toxicity inside. If you do join here, make sure you don't question the supreme overlord. Or maybe you should so you can get out of your contract and go to a better place.

I immediately realized this was the kind of guidance they could have used to balance the less than organized life that I provided my children. I swore at that moment that I would provide whatever it took to bestow this gift upon their children. When my grandson was 3 years old, and potty trained, I contacted Tammy for a visit to the Childrens Montessori Schoolhouse (CMS). The children all greeted me, and then quietly went about their "work." I watched as one child went to the snack area, prepared her vegetables and dip. Ate them while quietly chatting with her friend at the table. (all the children are friends here! "Cooper, when you are finished, bring a friend in here to take his turn.") Then, she cleaned up her plate and napkin and set the place at the table for the next child. This week, I watched the children eat their lunch at the picnic table on the playground. When one little boy finished his apple, he hopped up, put the core in the compost tumbler, turned it three times, and then sat back down at the table for more conversation! And no one is over six years old. I found the "math" section of the classroom. One of the Montessori principles is learning a concept "physically" with your senses before you internalize it mentally. One method of learning their numbers is counting beads on a strand, with your fingers. So, first master counting a strand of ten beads. And then I saw a rectangle of beads, ten by ten. Hah, these children are learning to square their numbers!! Ten squared is 100 beads. How exciting! And then I saw a cube of beads, 10X10X10. Mercy, they will understand cubing and cube roots with their tiny fingers. When did I finally understand that concept? Junior in high school? I watch my little grandson, who, like his grandmother (me), is an agent of chaos. But he steps through the portals of the Children's Montessori Schoolhouse and Mrs. DiGiralamo, Miss Marilyn, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Billingham gently, quietly guide him to a world that is structured, yet loaded with freedom, once he understands the rules. And now we are beginning to bring the principles home. It's a challenge, but we now know what is possible. As a grandmother, I rarely purchase anything for my grandchildren, but I feel like I am giving them the gift of the world through the Children's Montessori Schoolhouse.

It was important to us that she attended a Montessori school, but more important that we felt like it would develop her strengths and teach her. Even more importantly, we wanted a place that would feel like a home, where the teachers cared and were genuine. This was it for us! I cannot say enough about this school and our experience thus far. She's learning things that will help her grow into a kind, independent, and thoughtful person, and that she will carry with her the rest of her life. In our opinion, this is the best kept secret in the area. We love it here!
