Our initial experience wasn't great, getting the first visit scheduled took forever. That should have been my clue. Every appointment since has been very difficult to schedule. When my child is due to be seen, they have one appointment to offer. If that doesn't work, they will suggest something two weeks later. Well that adds two weeks to the treatment time - nobody wants that! Their appointments are only available between 8:20 and 3:20 (and I don't believe they are open on Fridays), so your child will always miss school for this (and you will miss work). Maybe this is a small sacrifice to make, but I wish I had known before we started here or I would likely have gone elsewhere.

Dr. Smith sees patients in the Durham office two days a week and takes vacation, as we all do, but there isn't another orthodontist covering while he's out of the office. What this means is very long wait times to get an appointment. I have been offered appointments in the Mebane office,but that is a full hour drive round trip and would require me to take additional time off work. Living in Durham, if I had known what to expect, I would have gone elsewhere. Update: Dr. Smith called and scheduled me as an add-on at the end of a business day. That said, it was still far more difficult than it should have been and I would still have chosen differently given the difficulty of getting appointments in the Durham office.
