Very disappointed after attempting to return an item ($3.49) which was defective.I presented the item along with my receipt to the clerk at the front desk, where she called over the counter to someone that she had a return. After being questioned by the manager as to whether the item was broken when I purchased it, I told him I got it home, opened it, and it pulled apart. Was told I had an attitude. Also that he had the right to question me...which is a correct statement. However, the accusatory tone he had over a small return was overkill. I asked if he were going to proceed with my return, and he responded no...pushing the item toward me on the counter. I flicked it back toward him and stated that I wouldn't return to that store, and he responded, good. I asked for, and was give his name, the owner's name and telephone number, and again told I had an attitude. Having been in retail for 44 years, I was taught early on in my career that returns are just as, if not more important than purchases, and should be treated with at least the same amount of respect. That makes for a happy customer who will eventually purchase far more than the amount of the return...in this case $3.49. I did not call the owner and threw his name and number away. The amount of the purchase and the item were not worth the trouble nor the stress. This post is to tell owners and their staff that everyone who enters their place of business is an invited guest, and the benefit the owners and staff receive is the successful operation of their business, the resulting profits, and the jobs of all of the staff involved in that operation. All of that is dependent upon their invited guests and the way the employees threat them in order to encourage purchases. The treatment I received was far harsher than needed, and the eventual outcome disappointing. I will not return to that store where I have been a very long-time customer. The same items are available elsewhere, and hopefully any needed return will be graciously accepted or refused in a polite and proper manner. read more

This has always been a great place to get awesome things for holidays and parties. However, their service and overall antiquated store and POS system combined with their lack of customer service will have me shopping elsewhere. You're given two receipts at checkout if you use a debit/credit card. One itemized receipt and one card receipt. I needed to return some items and didn't recall having two receipts so I took what I had, the credit card one. The cashier told me that they couldn't allow a refund and the "manager" confirmed this as well. I asked if they could not pull the info from my card as every other retail establishment can and of course they cannot. That would be far too helpful for their customers. If you want to return a holiday item after the holiday has passed, even if you're within the time allowed for returns, well, too damn bad. "We've already packed up Easter." Hey, so has Hobby Lobby and they took all my returns back. I'm sure they had a lot more to "pack up" than you, lady. I can overlook this place looking and smelling like Granddaddy's basement if the positive outweighs the negative; however, the rudeness I've experienced from the staff and the outdated technology is far too much aggravation. I'll stick with Amazon, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's. There's too much competition for these type stores and what separates the good from the bad is service. Wilson's needs to get with it or they'll no longer be an option. read more

Zero stars. This local chain store boasts being a "family" establishment, but are blatantly and unapologetically rude to people of whose appearance they don't approve. They very obviously follow them through the store, clearly conveying that they suspect, based solely on their appearance, that they'll shoplift. Worse, if you are a gay couple and they know it, or even if you're not, but they suspect it, a Wilson's clerk will accost you with offensive and insulting comments, all but demanding that you leave. They are unconscionable! I do not recommend Wilson's and will never again shop there! read more

people are so funny to complain about a discount store! we love wilson's i get the best party decorations for an unbeatable price. but remember you get what you pay for so don't complain when you pay $3 for an item and can't return it. read more

My girlfriend and I just had one of the worst and upsetting business experiences I've ever been through. We went into the Wilson's in Simpsonville to get some nick nacks for my son and a few little miscellaneous things for the house. Not a single person said hello or greeted us, nor offered any help in finding anything. One of the women who worked there started following us through the store... I guess to make sure we weren't stealing? Anyway, we were on a very back isle in the store, away from other people and kids. This lady walked by this isle like 3 or 4 times peeking at us. My girl took my hand and we embraced for maybe 3 seconds, and I kissed her on the cheek (we are a homosexual couple) and all of this sudden this woman comes down the isle saying that we don't need to be using profanity in their family owned business. I was kind of confused at first and didn't realize she was talking to us. But then she also mentioned that we didn't need to be touching on each other and I lost it. I said "Lady the only person that can hear what we're saying or see what we're doing is YOU... (honestly she was, since she was following us all through the store and watching our every little move) but that's fine I won't do business with your family anymore" then I dropped all the things I had in my arms and we promptly left. I'm almost 29 years old and have been going to Wilson's in Greenville and the Simpsonville location with my mom since I was a child. That woman specifically profiled us for having tattoos and then tried to put rules on shopping there I feel because she dislikes people who are different. After today, not only did I feel heartbroken and kind of betrayed, but I will NEVER shop with them ever again. read more
