The biggest issue was the L&D & Mother/Baby unit after delivery. My newborn and I were placed in a room that was only 68 degrees. We were told there were no other rooms available, the solution was to give us extra blankets. We had to wait approximately 36 hours before we were moved to a room with an appropriate temperature. Recovering from childbirth while trying to care for a newborn in a cold room was incredibly stressful. I was also shocked by the cleanliness of the hospital. The postpartum room did not appear clean when we arrived. During my stay, the trash was not emptied daily, and the floors were never mopped. For a labor and delivery unit caring for mothers and newborns, I expected much better sanitation. While a few staff members were kind, my overall experience in both Labor & Delivery and the Mother/Baby unit did not meet the standard I expected. One experience that has stayed with me involved the nurse who introduced herself as Lindsey. She attempted to place my IV before my C-section and was unsuccessful after five attempts between both of my arms. At that point, I politely asked if someone else could try. Instead of responding with understanding, she appeared upset, gave me attitude, and slammed an item before leaving the room. It was an incredibly vulnerable moment for me, and I was shocked by how I felt I was treated. Even if a procedure is difficult, patients deserve compassion and professionalism, especially during childbirth.

She is just lovely, sweet and gentled inside and out. She is a treasure and I am beyond grateful to have her as my primary. She is timely without any sense of rushed-turn over to the next patient. She will address the concerns and worries in a way that makes you feel relieved and assured. There is simply not enough good things to say about her. Beth Israel, you've got someone who is 110%. Horrible ER! I was called by my primary care NP telling me to head to the ER becasue findings on my…read moremri that day showed a compressed spine even though the mri report said it most likely was due to bad image. She could not reach orthopedics and she felt a neuro surgeon or orthopedic specialist needed to read the mri right away! Well I went to the ER and they tell me they don't have a neuro surgeon or orthopedic doctor to look at my mri more closely! They actually told me to DRIVE to Tufts in Boston myself!!! So how urgent is all this?? I had taken an Uber on the request of the NP who called me. She said in case they put a brace on your neck. They say they will transfer me to Tufts in Boston! I sat for 3 hours on an uncomfortable gurney with nothing stabilizing my neck. I finally gave up. I told them I'm not going to Tufts and I'll talk to my ortho in the morning. They aren't going to do a consult at 11PM at the hospital, which means they would have admitted me. Ortho calls me in the morning to tell me they are setting me up with a neuro surgeon and they will call with an appointment for me. So my trip to the ER was not needed. I would have been admitted for no reason. But I WAS dehydrated with a low potassium and I was told they don't give potassium nor did they have any soft neck braces. What kind of hospital is this?

As primary care offices go, Beth Israel Lexington is rather good. Except for one well known monster…read moreof a physician, the doctors are courteous and competent. Some show a lot of care. I would describe the place as one where people who take care of their health would come. You will need to stay on top of things! If you are generally carefree about your healthcare you probably shouldn't come here. I would highly recommend that if you want good care you be respectful at all times, particularly when something has gone wrong or if you are stressed. They respond well to courtesy. They have an adult specialities department which is extra convenient because a lot of the physicians also work downtown. And PCPs can provide paperwork that lets the specialty department know what type of appointment you need. This coordination between departments is invaluable when you are seeing a specialist for the first time. It also means that you don't need to worry about whether they will agree to see you or whether they will require medical records or a referral. The office sometimes can be slow to respond to requests and frequently makes a errors. They often have a hard time with the details of refilling prescriptions. They, like many primary care offices run late much of the time and it is impossible to know when you will leave. The lab waiting area has been recently renovated. The wait times can vary. Most of the phlebotomists are competent and will draw blood with a minimum of discomfort. You should be aware that the coordination with other Beth Israel labs can be lacking and you might that you may need to repeat bloodwork because of errors if you are coordinating a complicated blood draw with other labs. You might wonder why despite all of the afformentioned downsides I am awarding this facility four stars. Well primary care is often a miserable experience where people are treated like cattle (excaerbated by a lack of supply of residencies which artificially raise specialist salaries and disencourage medical students from becoming PCPs). And Beth Israel Lexington is significantly better than many other clinics that I have frequented. Additionally, some of the providers are clearly significantly above average.

Or, they supposedly sent the prescription to "Humana Pharmacy"--the world's worst online excuse of a Pharmacy, who claims they didn't get it, so I'm stuck in this prescription Hell where I can't get anyone at BIDC Lexington to re-send the prescription to a different Pharmacy, & Humana Pharmacy won't help & just lies to me. I've been assigned to a new Dr., but I can't even message her, b/c she's not in their message system thing yet. And NO ONE there will help me with this. On the plus side, my new Dr. speaks Urdu.....however my Urdu is just a little rusty. WTH???! My old Dr. there was generally very good, but a real enforcer type. Every little thing was treated as a major crisis, with enforced specialist visits, extreme tests, etc. And every specialist visit, even when they found NOTHING wrong--I was forced to go to a "followup" visit. Major Tests that showed NOTHING wrong--guess what--had to get another test. And she tried also to make me go see her every 2-3 weeks. It was all crazy-making......

There's plenty of parking in front of and behind the building. I prefer this location over Winchester Hospital for testing due to the convenience and easy parking. I've never had to wait long to be called to the draw area. The staff here has always been friendly and efficient. Results come back in a timely manner also. The office location is downstairs but very close to the elevator.

I have been a patient of Dr. Patwa for about 3 years. I am currently having a serious problem…read moreusing my CPAP to the point where I've stopped using it. After describing the issue the receptionist suggested that it might be a CPAP pressure issue and to call the CPAP equipment company. She also booked me for the next available appointment which was over 3 months away. The CPAP company told me that they cannot do anything about the pressure without a doctors prescription and to call back the doctor. The Sleep Clinic receptionist must think it's her job to not let anyone speak with the doctor. I called back and expressed the urgency of a simple phone call with Dr Patwa and she insisted that I cannot talk to him for over 3 months. I'm looking for a new doctor. It's ridiculous that I can't talk to him when I have an issue.

She has called me at nights after situations just to see how I was doing. If needed, she would make time to see me if really important. She's a first year attending, but seem more. I had a good sized cyst in my neck. Dr. O'Connor recommend a 3rd year resident with a quick appointment time. Dr. Brahver did have a resident with her, but Dr. Brahver did the procedure herself with some questions. The pain I felt was from the Latocaine shot. I then felt a very little pressure, the scalpel, then the pressure of pushing the cyst out. No suture and a scar that you have to look hard to find. I just don't recommend using them for any blood lab test. For that go to Whidden's out patient lab and see. Ajla. She a fantastic phlabotmist! Just don't use Whidden for other services, especially ER and inpatient.
