I won't change my previous review, but I will update the office status: They are changing to Valley Health Neurology which means that it might be possible that VH will be enforcing some of their practices, like answering the phone. The quality of care will now answer to their VH superiors and perhaps get an upgrade to what they've been in the past. Time will tell. read more

Dr Henry is absolutely WONDERFUL! The rest of this office is beyond GARBAGE and has been for several years. The ONLY reason I continue with them is b/c of Dr Henry. If he leaves or retires, I will never return. I will not have appointments w/ his PA's ( no matter how long I have to wait) & suggest you do so at your own risk. Last month, I Went in for a sleep study WITH my wallet and left WITHOUT my wallet. Somebody stole my wallet at this facility so I filed a police report. There was evidence that a staff member opened my room door and entered my room while I was asleep...and another staff member was snickering after I used the restroom - what that implied I do not know but I do know that my personal effects were only within a few feet from her seat. So I don't know who stole it but somebody did. Disturbing that this would happen at a so-called professional establishment. When I mentioned this incident to a staff member on a different shift she had told me that this had happened before to an older lady: where her whole purse disappeared, then a few days later it reappeared. Absolutely rotten: possibly using real-time sleep data to prey upon patients? Another staff member implied that maybe the cleaning staff threw it out. None of the cleaning staff were around, my wallet was in my bag and was intentionally taken out, stolen, so no, it was NOT the cleaning staff. This facility should have lockers - they do not. I will never recommend this company - just terrible & unprofessional. If I could give zero stars - this facility would get it. read more

Booked an appointment. Best date - 112 days away. Called every week hoping for a cancellation. Got in on a cancellation that was 60 days from booking. Dr. ordered tests that were scheduled promptly (2 days) at their facility. Told results would be available for review next February - 99 days away. I challenged that and was told, "we're very busy and that's the best that we can do". Clearly, this organization has no interest in what's best for a patient. Their business comes first and sadly, a patient is simply and after-thought. I can't emphasize adequately how strongly this organization should be avoided at all cost. read more

Just don't bother. While they might be the only Neurologist's office in Winchester connected with Valley Health....they are NOT the only Neurologist office in Winchester. 2 1/2 years after a concussion they still can't figure out why I am having blinding headaches for weeks on end. 2 1/2 years and no answers. I am moving to another Neurologist and they actually tried stonewalling me with with pointless paperwork to prevent that, then refused to fax my file over once I did. They will not help you, they are only out for they money they rake in. Expect to always see a Physician's Assistant (PA) and never one of the actual doctors. Appointments area 3 to 4 months out because people think they are the only Neuro game in town. They aren't! Let me just say a quick word about their secretarial staff. Being rude and off-putting doesn't do you any favors and doesn't win you any brownie points. Take a chill pill, you aren't all that. TL;DR: Take your business elsewhere. read more

We moved from Loudoun County where you could always get in touch with your doctor or at the very least his nurse. I see lots of bad reviews on the wait time here. Those reviews are 100% accurate. It is not uncommon for me to end up waiting an hour after my scheduled time. All that being said, my experiences with Dr Henry and PA Valcour have been wonderful. I will definitely vouch for those two. Dr Henry always took time to ask lots of questions and he takes notes on everything you say and genuinely tries to help you with your issues. I have epilepsy and no doctor has ever been able to figure out why I have these seizures. Dr Henry ended up finding a mixture of medicines that has had me seizure-free for years now. Dr Henry has been having an influx of patients, and I have been seeing PA Valcour. I love her and am very pleased that she treats me the same as Dr Henry. I did have a bad experience with Dr Fowler once and I will not see her again. It seemed like I was an inconvenience to her that I was there and I was made to feel stupid for some of the questions that I was asking during my visit. I'm glad I got switched to Dr Henry, because I doubt I would have gone back if I had another experience as I had with her. They use a very neat phone app that you can use to make appointments or keep track of your health records as well as ask your Dr a question. Very useful. In the end, yes, the wait times are ridiculous sometimes. But I am personally willing to put up with that just to see Dr Henry and Ms Valcour because of the care they give me. read more

Let me set the scene for you. Lets say your appointment is scheduled for 1:30 pm. You arrive 10 minutes early, and check in at the reception desk up front. Paperwork is completed in 5 minutes, then you have a seat in the hot, stuffy and over crowded waiting room. And now, you wait. And you wait. And wait. And wait some more. But then suddenly, like a lucky lottery winner, your name is called to come back and get your vital signs read. Yippee! 5 minutes in that room and you're filled with a false sense of hope that you'll actually be seeing the doctor. But alas, this is not the case. So back to the waiting room you slink, only to be hit with that excruciating heat again. Seriously, the place is like an oven in there. Finally, after hearing them call your name, you're taken back to the examination room. This is where the real waiting begins. Expect to be seen in no less than an hour after being assigned a room. I'm not exaggerating. Best bet is to sign in at the front, then get back in your car and drive out of there. Run all of your errands, pay some bills, go shopping for shoes, mow the lawn, and catch up on some much needed sleep. You can do all of these things, confident in the fact that they still havent called your name. With all these complaints, you'd think they'd figure out the one thing that'll make things run smoother and keep their patients happy. STOP OVER BOOKING THE PATIENTS!! Oh, and would it kill you to set the thermostat to 70? Just sayin'. read more

I have been to this office twice. While NP was knowledgeable, some of staff at front are a problem! They told us first visit, no copay when I asked. Second visit they said WELL YOU ARE WRONG AND YOU MUST PAY THEM BOTH NOW. She then laughed. ( when you live on a fixed income, then they charge an extra 4% when you use a debit card. In the waiting room, Fox News is blaring TV. I don't care about their politics but SHOVING it down patients throats tells me all I need to know about the way they do business. I was referred to Dr. Landrio for care of a brain tumor Not only did he refuse to read my CT & MRIs, but his attitude was passive. I finally came to realize he had no idea what he was was doing or how to give care for a brain tumor. Yet he kept me coming in for office visits to get my money for over a year. Once my insurance changed and I could see another neuro, I found that the entire time I was his patient my tumor was growing and could have caused a serious stoke. Obviously I needed surgery. I had a craniotomy 3 months later. I suffered paralysis afterwards. If Landrio would have known what to do, that would not have happened, for the tumor grew to the motor function part of my brain. Stay away from this incompetent ass. Especially if you are diagnosed with a brain tumor. read more

DON'T GO HERE if you have any other choice! After seeing several other Neurologists in Northern VA, I went out of my way to come here in the hope of finding a doctor that would actually take a serious interest in my health problem. WOW, What a mistake! This practice's only goal is to run you through the billing machine and collect as much $$ as possible. They have absolutely NO interest in your actual condition or ailment. It takes weeks to get an initial appointment and even longer for a follow up. Within 30 seconds of trying to explain the history of my problem, the doctor told me she had already sent a prescription to my pharmacy. 3 other doctors have been unable to diagnose my condition and she thinks taking a headache pill will help! I was then sent to get an MRI at the Winchester hospital. After several weeks I went back to get the results only to find I had been handed off to a Nurse Practitioner. The NP said there was an anomaly with the MRI but couldn't tell if it was anything of concern or just an artifact of the test procedure. Once again I was just given another prescription and scheduled to come back in two months! This has been the most disgusting experience I have had with doctors in my life. Now months later, I am still chronically ill, have absolutely no diagnosis or treatment plan, and continue to get billed for every little ridiculous charge you can think off. The MRI itself costs over $7000. I was also billed an additional $250 for another doctor that I never even saw to "look" at the MRI results! I couldn't even get this office to fill out a form for my insurance company without paying another $25 in advance. Its really a sad state of affairs with the level of healthcare being offered today. There probably are some good doctors left out there but they certainly don't work here! Stay away from this place!!!! read more

11 minutes ago my appt with Dr Choi was horrible. He wouldnt listen to anything I had to say, made assumptions about what my condition might be based on my age and weight. he ordered an MRI for me for Sleep Issues which is NOT why I went there and would actually Roll his eyes when i tried to tell him my MS-like symptoms. I called after my MRI to switch from Dr Choi to Dr Crowe. I was told it had to be approved, that it was office policy. Eight work days later, i called to see why i hadnt been contacted. they had no answer, except i was told the approval had not been signed. i told them it was MY health and i wanted this approval issue taken care of. I was put on hold and then disconnected. I called back. This time i was put on with Jill, who informed me that she had left 2 msgs for me a couple weeks ago trying to schedule with Dr Crowe, which wasnt possible since i only requested the physician transfer 8 working days ago, and i had been told the change approval hadnt even been signed. Then she abruptly asked, "do i want to make an appt"? The earliest she claimed she could get me in was Oct 30th. This is to have the radiologists report read to me. OCTOBER FUCKING 30TH. If I was just reviewing Dr.Lyons I would give him 5 stars hands down. He knows his stuff and has worked very hard to help me heal from an auto accident with a TBI. Tiffany his nurse also needs a 5. There are delays with calling and talking to a actual person, issues with medication refills, and getting triage nurse to call you back. Since this is nothing new from many practices, my review is actually on the Dr. My migrains, narcolepsy, and "seizure like" activity is activly monitored by The PA, Patricia and Dr. Lyons. If I have trouble getting through, I just go a different route and remember to be nice. We all want the same thing. read more

I was diagnosed with epilepsy about two years ago. I saw Dr. Craig. Expect long wait times, having to see them every few months with them only giving you enough refills until you see them every few months. This one nurse had no empathy when I needed a refill but couldn't afford to come to see the doctor because I was waiting for my insurance (Medicaid) to approve me. Previously, I was forced to pay a $400 bill from an EEG that I had in which I was unaware that my insurance would not cover. They wouldn't see me until I did. Finally I just went to a clinic and the doctor there was so nice and refilled my prescription for an entire year. I'll never go back to this office ever again. If you are referred here, ask for a different referral. The staff is RUDE and disorganized. I could say a lot, but that sums it up. They know they can get away with it since they are not affiliated with any medical network, and have no one higher to answer to. The neurologist in our case looked bored and sloppy, spent most of the time talking to his family via text. No follow-up after test results, stuck on horrible medication with terrible side effects. Got a problem with any of this? Good luck getting through to the stuck-up jerks running the office. They'll act like they're doing you a favor when they book you another worthless appointment for a whole month down the road. read more

Dr. Choi was assigned as my neurologist while I was hospitalized at WMC. I only had 1 office visit with him where he told me a couple of things that he ended up changing one dealing with time off work and the other dealt with my driving. Both were big changes then what he had told me in his office. I ended up going to DMV about my driving where they told me I was good to drive and didn't need to do anything to get my driving privileges back. He has messed up my workmans comp and refuses to fix it because I switched doctors so now I am not getting paid. I would no recommend him to anyone. These people are near impossible to get a hold of and return your calls much later if at all. Front desk receptions are the rudest people you will ever deal with. I went to them to check on some Memory Issues, and some uncontrolled shakes that I had developed. They did not even listen to what I was saying, they said my shaking was most likely stress (SERIOUSLY? without a test that's what you come up with). Dr. Lyons is sweet but seems a little forgetful. Not impressed with the staff that deals with record release. This office expects you to pay them for test results. Most places give you a copy for free then charge for subsequent copies. After paying for the test and visits to begin with, the first set of results and visits should be free of charge. They have this Follow My Health portal set up where permission is given to upload all documents there for free however this office is a little dense as to what that means. They either don't know how to upload results and visit documentation or they are trying to make a quick buck. Will not be returning. read more

And when you get frustrated by the inept staff that never return calls don't bother reaching out to the office manager because apparently your experience "isn't enough" to talk to her and if you leave a voicemail she won't call back either. This is without a doubt the WORST doctors office in Winchester that completely has no regard and at times abuses their patients. I am pregnant and was advised to call this doctors office to get a simple blood test. I had to call and leave a message on the nurses line FIVE times before I was finally called back and told to come pick up the blood order at the doctors office. When I arrived they told me they could not give me the blood order because I did not have my ID on me, even though the nurse on the phone never told me I would need that and I pick up my pills from pharmacy without showing ID AND have had my blood drawn without showing ID. After a 30 minute trip home and back with my ID I asked this rude front desk women if I needed to fast for this blood order and her was response was "I don't think so.." When I explained that wasn't a good enough answer for me she went to ask the nurse and it turns out that not only would I need to fast but I shouldn't take my medicine that day either. So essentially they were going to send me down to a blood clinic that would have either turned me away since I'd already eaten and taken my medicine that day or taken the blood and the sample would have been off. It all boils down to them being uncaring about their patients time. Rude and unprofessional. Basically this is the only neuro place in town and they act like it--and not in a good way. read more

Why didn't I listen to all the BAD reviews!?! I was nervous about seeing Dr. Choi based on his horrible reviews on another website. He seemed OK but then he sent a bizarre letter within a week after my visit "withdrawing" as my Doctor with no explanation. I had labwork done and never could get anyone to call back with the results. The schedulers were rude and hanged up on me and the nurse would not return a call to give me labwork results. My husband and I were on our way to an appt 1.5 hours away when I called to confirm the time and was told that all appts were cancelled. After trying to figure out what seemed to be the issue for weeks we finally had no choice but to seek treatment elsewhere and assumed that because my husband was not willing to have BRAIN surgery he must not have been important enough for Dr. Lyons to treat him. Dysfunctional practice from start to finish. This is by far the worst care I have ever seen. From Dr Lyons flipping through my wife's file from front to back over and over again (muttering to himself) and then ordering the same test we just completed, they are all lost. Dr Lyons was not in touch with why we were there, and is a very flippant person that tries to hide his lack of preparedness with an aggressive demeanor (don't ever question the Czar). The condescending attitudes of the entire staff upstairs and downstairs is very alarming. The office manager Susan has zero qualities and does not care about patients at all. They cancel appointments while you are in the waiting room without any care of the patients time and expect you to wait 2-3 months from another one. They run test after test without any results. This place has one function, and it is not medical care. They are there to make money. Nothing else matters to them. Don't dare complain as they will all hide from you. RUN FROM THIS PLACE, as they will steal your money and could care less how you were mistreated. They should not be allowed to treat anyone with brain disorders, as they completely lack compassion. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Winchester Neurological. Usually I don't have to set and wait a long time before the nurse call me back. Once I go back it really is not to long until the doctor comes in and gets down to business an I am on my way. If I need refills or new prescriptions my doctor will go ahead and do that. I've just recently moved back to the Winchester area and needed a neurologist locally for a very complex back issue that is to put it lightly "tricky" to treat. After reading her very impressive biography, I chose Dr. Katherine Gustin. I had been through quite a lot and it has been a hard road, so rehashing my story was very difficult and cumbersome. Dr. Gustin listened attentively as I went through the last 2 years. After I finished, she first showed incredible compassion and bedside manner- she told me I was too young to be having this problem and was going to do everything in her power to get me back on track. After seeing close to 15 doctors over the passed 2 years, that meant a lot. She recommended a treatment regimin for me that was stellar and put me in the hands of the owner of a therapy clinic. She insisted I see this owner and told her she would give her a synopsis on my issue, uniquely describing it. I was incredibly impressed with Dr. Gustin and her diverse, thorough knowledge base. With that being said, bedside manner cannot be taught, and she has this down to a "science." I would recommend Dr. Gustin to anyone having issues that have not been resolved or have went without treatment due to obscurity. I thought doctors like this one were few and far in between nowadays. Her treatment and professionalism was a true breath of fresh air in every way and I'm so very grateful to have found her. read more

Understandable occasionally but not every time and every doctor. Maybe they should stop booking appointments so close together to allow time for the doctor to actually keep on schedule.
