My son and I have at Winchester Place for 1.5 years. From the very first night of living here, we've had problems. The toilet was clogged which flooded the bathroom and hallway, and when I called the 24-hour maintenance line, a guy came multiple hours later, reeking of alcohol. I personally unclogged the toilet hours before this, so when he arrived he did nothing. He didn't help clean up all the water and told me to use towels. I looked past this even though our toilet clogs WEEKLY now, and don't get me started on the sinks and shower taking forever to drain. I regularly buy drano, and it's gotten very expensive over the course of us living here. The light above our stove is permanently on, even when I try to turn it off. I've put in a maintenance request for this, and they claimed to have fixed it, but they obviously haven't as it does not turn off. The closet doors in every room constantly come off their tracks. My son's closet has 3 sliding doors for some reason so you can barely open up one side. It makes no sense at all, and it's very inconvenient. It's a nightmare trying to put stuff in it so we don't really use it. The counter tops in the bathroom and kitchen were literally painted to cover up the outdated vinyl on them. The weird paint makes it look worse and chips very easily. This is cosmetic so I looked past it. My electric bill is almost double what it was when we lived in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath house because their buildings and doors are not insulated properly. My heater and AC constantly run. Not an exaggeration!!! And then there's the blatant and almost cruel false advertising in their ads and by their leasing office employees. In all of their ads online and on their pamphlets, they advertise TWO nice and WORKING pools. The entire time I've lived here they have both been closed and out of order I was told by the leasing agent they were in the middle of fixing them and that since they were broken we would be given complimentary passes to the Rec Center in Fairview Heights which has an indoor pool. Well, summer came, and we were only given 2 passes to the public, always crowded O'Fallon pool for 2 summers in a row. One of the MAIN reasons I picked this place to live was the WORKING pool in the ads. The leasing officer assured me they would be working by the end of the summer, and it was just a plumbing issue. They even pointed out the fact that there was a trench dug around the pools, letting me know they were currently working on them. The pond and walking track are completely trash ridden, and the tennis courts are completely different than the pictures online. They're barely useable. Don't even bother. The dumpsters are constantly overflowing with trash in and around them because waste management only comes once a week. It always stinks. All of this is extremely disappointing, bit we have made do. The straw that broke the metaphorical camel's back happened this morning when my son and I walked out to the parking lot to leave for the day only to find our rental car completely missing. I called 911 because I thought it was stolen, and I was told it was "private property vehicle towed." Why? Because I parked in the inner perimeter area of parking to bring in all our groceries last night and not the outer perimeter "guest" area. Now I have to deal with this completely UNPROFESSIONAL and TRASHY tow company to get my rental car out. (My car is currently in the shop) it's going to cost me almost $400 that I don't have because I'm a single mother who barely makes rent(but has NEVER been late). Winchester place is located right on I159 and Frank Scott pkwy. Convenient location to restaurants, shopping, parks and schools. I actually stayed here my 1st year in Fairview Heights. The office staff changed several times during that year. There is a cub house where they have complimentary drinks, cookies, candy and doggie treats. Kiddie pool, regular size pool, BBQ grills, tennis court, a pond and plenty of trails to walk. The apartments and very spacious, wall to wall carpet, walk in closets, washer/dryers, some have fire places and balconies. The maintenance was pretty awesome, at least the times I've had to call them. All that sounds good but I didn't realize there's a cemetery right next door. My apartment had a clear view of all the plots. My fault for not opening my eyes. The reasons I left besides the cemetery being so close. There was never any parking, since there wasn't assigned parking spots, guest of residence would take all the slots and you end up walking a few buildings over. Add that to coming home late at night, cemetery, it's dark and a paranoid female; not a good mix. The pool was closed on Mondays and when it was open, it was filled with kids; like where are your parents?!? The breezeways looked great when I moved in but after awhile, they became neglected. Dog owners wouldn't pick up their pups poop. And they raised my rent over $100. For the amount I was already paying and there wasn't a gym on site ... I was not having that. So I moved! At the end of the day.... I wouldn't recommend anyone moving in unless you're ok with the above. I know people that still reside here so yes I will come back only to visit and when I'm playing taxi for the kids. read more

9.) They try to overcharge you on renters insurance even though you have it and unless you catch it which we are going on month 3 they will not remove. 8.) Our washing machine would not drain during the summer and according to them it was not an emergency issue. So for a week we sat with stinky water in our machine. 7.) The AC has gone out twice both times during the summer and it was horrible because the emergency line told us well I'm sitting down to eat dinner I'll fix it tomorrow which we didn't get fixed for two days. 6.) The hallway had a flooding and they told us to dry it with towels. 5.) The light in our bathroom flickers like the wiring is going out I have put in 17+ work orders in and nothing gets done about it. 4.) The kitchen sink and dishwasher overflowed with sewage and out kitchen floor was turned into a pool. No one came out for 4+ hours so I had to go to work late because I had to wait for them 3.) When we moved in the fridge sounded like it was going to take off and the dishwasher was missing pieces. Both were replaced but not until I made a video and shared it on the community wall then it was finally fixed two months later. 2. The bathroom in the hallway never drains when you flush since we moved in. Put in work orders and they always come to fix it but the problem still exist. 11 months later it finally got fixed...yes 2/23/18 1.) The living room carpet is now SOAKING WET. I called the office and the guy asked if our roof was leaking! We live in a bottom apartment. I told him no and he told me to call the maintenance guy quick before he leaves. I guess because he doesn't want to do his job. I called and left a voicemail put in a emergency maintenance request and now I sit here and wait. DO NOT LIVE HERE. DO NOT LIVE HERE. MUCH BETTER PLACES TO LIVE THEN HERE AND CHEAPER! WE NOW LIVE IN OFALLON IN A NICE PLACE MUCH NEWER THEN HERE AND MUCH CHEAPER!!! These apartments are "ok" They surely need a renovation. They're charging me $900 for a 2 bdrm 2 bathroom with outdated appliances and washer and dryer. Also, good luck finding a decent parking spot around here after 8. Parking lot is always FULL. Very frustrating. I will definitely look around when the lease is up. read more

I've had some nightmare landlords in the past, especially from apartment companies and military dorms are lucky they don't have a place for yelp reviews. This place is incredibly quick with service request and very easy to work with! Place was clean and well maintained. Also the two years I lived here I was obsessed with the ducks and geese. if I could give 0 stars I would! Do not waste your time or money moving into these apartments! I live in a renovated 2 bed 2 bath loft paying $1485 a month. My air has not worked properly since summer started I have put in multiple work orders and called the office several times and I'm told coils have been cleaned. My ac unit runs constantly because it never catches up to the thermostat temperature set on, now my power bill is $438 for 1 month of service. Not my mention my daughter has had a leak in her ceiling for 2 months since 5/10 when I started with maintenance request and it has yet to be fixed. Not worth the $900 for a 1br. Definately not worth the $1100 it would be to renew my lease. Maybe if there were some improvements to show for the $200 increase. I definitely know when the neighbor lights their blunt. Might as well be sitting in my living room with it the smell is so strong. They left a notice to remove my grill from the patio but i guess they didnt see the 8 other grills that are visible from my patio. Have water leaking through the dry wall around my bedroom window frame. I put in a maintenance request for that 3 days ago but havent heard from them in regards to fixing it. Laundry room is disgusting. Half the dryers dont work. Coin machine in the laundry room has been out of service since last fall. I lived here for a year and enjoyed the pool and quick response to any repairs/issues needed. The apartment complex was quite, never had any issues with others in the building. I moved out because there were better, newly remolded apartments in the area for a much lesser price. Winchester did want to raise the rent over $200 and also had integrated this new rent payment site online that residents were forced to pay through. The processing fee was almost $20. NO WAY! The location is nice, the grounds keeping is nice. But the apartments do need some renovation for the pricing. They are all carpet with outdated kitchen appliances and cabinets. If you want a loft apartment, you'll have to get a apartment on the 3rd floor. And let me tell you those are a lot of steps...which was a tiring hike up uneven placed stairs everyday that I never seemed to get use too. I wouldn't rent there again or recommend it just because the interior of the apartments aren't up to date. And because of all the steep steps to climb if you want a loft style apartment. read more

With my apartment lease ending in August, I figured I would get a jump start on apartment shopping. The location of Winchester is ideal for those who work on Scott AFB, as it is just a couple miles from 64. Having lived here before (back in my high school days), I didn't really expect any surprises -- and I was right. We looked at the two bedroom two bath master suite and the two bedroom two bath loft apartments. Both were very nice and spacious with a nice view of the pond. Their prices are much better than what I'm paying now, but I feel as though they should still be lower. This complex was build in the 1980s and I know this is silly, but I just cannot stand the obnoxious shade of yellow they've chosen to paint the exterior. It really is an eye sore to me. When I relocated to the area at the end of 2016, safety, affordability and proximity to my new job in St. Louis, Mo were tops on my list of places to consider. I've been a resident of Winchester Place Apartments for the past 2 years and my experience has been a good one. The complex itself is fairly quiet, my neighbors are friendly and courteous, and I never feel unsafe with walking my dogs at any time during the day or night. I also really appreciate how the maintenance team is very responsive to any apartment issues and the front office has been helpful with any concerns as well. All in all, I am happy with my decision to move here. read more

The service here is really bad. I tried calling them several times(more than 10 tries per day), when I asked why it took so long for them to reply even on open business hours, the receptionist made excuses and had an attitude. Neighbors are really loud so l recently made a complaint, but I would question if the apartment owner even did anything about it since the service here is questionable. The maintenance serviceman never answered my calls. If you have maintenance issues here, expect several days for attention. I would have to call the main phone number(several times) and finally ask for a repair. If you plan on living here, expect noisy neighbors that have kids that scream and run throughout the day. You would think the apartment would be more strict on rules, but my neighbors would shake the entire apartment from pacing back and fourth or their kids running around(inside the apartment). If you plan on living here, expect it to be good for the first couple weeks, and eventually be frustrated with neighbors and maintenance issues. The front house that overlooks the apartment complexes are nice at first, then give poor service once you start paying rent. 1-2 stars on quality and overall attitude once you start living here. I would take this review down once I see some improvement, so if you still see it then it is still valid. read more
