Sad to say this isn't the only issue that management has had with tenants, but definitely the most shocking since all we asked for was our money back. They hired extra cleaners, discounted the rent and organized a reservation system for amenities. I have had a few minor issues with the apartment and the friendly maintenance staff are always there to fix it immediately. The grounds are well taken care of too and the landscaper does a beautiful job on the lawns and gardens. The apartment is super unique and has lots to offer. My favorites are the pool, gym, game room, business center. There are beautiful plants all around the building and the woman who cleans does an amazing job. The location is great and there are great restaurants, bars and coffee shops within walking distance. Cons: Heating costs are INSANE. The apartment is always freezing and we still pay around $150-$200 more in the winter (electric heat). The windows could use an update because so much cold air gets in. We really wish there was some outdoor seating! There are two broken down picnic tables. There are lots of grassy areas and we really wish there were a few patios around. They keep saying it's coming, but we haven't seen any progress yet. There was a coffee station which was one of the top reasons we moved in. (I know this is a weird thing to move in for, but we figured we could save a few grand on not buying coffee daily). They took it away at the start of the pandemic and said they won't be bringing it back. It is an old building and the walls are thin. I had no problem…read morewith the apartments themselves, but my move-out experience was so awful I feel obligated to leave this review. The apartments themselves are good quality and very well-maintained. Free laundry, ample parking, outdoor patio space, and regular maintenance crews that come by to do landscaping, clean the hallways, and plow the parking lot and sidewalks in the winter. Rent is a little steep at $1400/mo for a 1br, but I definitely felt like I was getting my money's worth with the quality of the apartment. My move-out experience, however, was bad. I submitted my intent to vacate notice a few months before the end of my lease, but ended up moving out a week earlier than I indicated on the form. I called the office to inform them that I was moving out early, but they failed to inform me that they were closing their office early the day I was moving out (that Friday), and that they would continue to be closed for the following week for renovations. Since I was unable to drop off the keys at the office, I left them in the apartment and left a voicemail informing them that I'd done this, and requested they call me back to confirm they got my message. I didn't receive a response. I called a few more times over the next few weeks -- eventually I got through to a receptionist who told me she'd leave a note for my property manager, who then never contacted me. At this point, we were a full week into June and I was still unsure my property manager was even aware I'd moved out because I'd never heard from her. On June 9th, two full weeks after I'd moved out, rent for June was automatically deducted from my checking account. $1400 is a non-trivial amount of money, so I called the office the following Monday to inform them of their mistake. I finally got an e-mail back from my property manager that day who informed me that they'd already done the move-out inspection and sent my security deposit, and that the June rent deduction was "a glitch in the ACH system" and that I should get my refund directly in my account by the end of the week. That Friday, I called again because I had not received the refund. I spoke with someone in the accounting department who let me know that they weren't able to issue the refund directly, so they had cut me a check and mailed it on Tuesday -- something that my property manager had yet again failed to communicate. Eventually I got both my entire security deposit back, as well as the rent that was mistakenly deducted for June. However, this whole debacle lasted about 3.5 weeks from the day I moved out (May 25), to the day I had all of my money back in my account. I am fortunate that I had enough of a buffer that this whole situation was more of a minor inconvenience than a major financial burden, but I imagine if this had happened to someone living paycheck to paycheck, this could have caused an overdraft or prevented them from being able to pay rent at their new apartment. To be clear, the receptionist I spoke with and the person from accounting were both very helpful -- the source of the problem was just my property manager and her inability to return phone calls or be forthcoming about communicating relevant information to her (former) tenants. The apartments are good quality, which is why I'm leaving two stars. But as nice as they are, it is not worth the headache. Unless O'Brien Brothers Agency's property management team can get their act together, I don't recommend renting from them.

If you want to study, then understand that about twice a week this will be serenaded by jet aircraft low overhead. The fire alarms will also go off quite frequently. When people smoke in the parking garage, most commonly in summer, the whole building goes up. At the peak, this was biweekly. It's admittedly been some time since this happened, but I don't think it was for any reason other than the winter driving the smokers away. If something is broken it won't be fixed in a timely fashion. When my air conditioning failed in early July, it was not repaired until late August. The gym has been bereft of paper towels for months. The office doesn't respond to any inquiry for days, especially if you ask on a Friday or weekend. Picking up your mail is an ordeal. The office is open only from 10AM-3PM, and even then only for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Posted and actual hours rarely overlap: they are usually there late and gone early, if countless meetings don't keep them. So if you have a class or work schedule that requires you to be present during those hours, you won't get your mail. Unless the office dumps the mail in the lobby. I've seen people grab packages from there. We're they the intended recipient? I don't know. On security, while there are cameras everywhere I've seen heroin needles in the stairwells, been harassed by panhandlers out front, and once broke into my apartment with a spatula. The actual living quarters are cramped. If you want to store your own possessions there, you're out of luck. I barely have room to walk around in my bedroom and I don't have that much stuff in there. I can imagine the triples or quadruple apartments can get quite loud too. The apartment is cheap and situated on a bus stop, but you can get much better living quarters in town for only a bit more money.

This is the worst people and service ever…read more After calling for two weeks to schedule a viewing and not getting a call back, I decided to go to the property and see for myself. I called while in their parking lot. Barbara answered the phone and told me she couldn't show me the apartment at 11:00 am because she had a showing at 3:pm. (WHATTTTT) She handed me an application and specified that the unit was 1000.00 a month including all utilities (except internet and cable). I returned on saturday with a filled out application and dropped in the mail box. On Wed I called again and asked on the status of my application, I was told to come see the apartment (the price now became 800.00 and it only included heat and hot water). I showed up at the property Friday 11:00 am. I was told my appointment was for Thursday. I was told to call to reschedule and I said no tell me now while I am here. She said she was trying to be fair with me. (after making me come to the property 3 times with no intention of showing me the apartment). I smiled and I said lets make an appointment now that I am here. Monday at 10:00 am i showed up to see an apartment at 235 instead of 241 which was the unit I was interested in. After seeing the apartment which was ok (older carpet/ Older appliances/old window unit) she told me she would call me to tell if it was available. Three hours later she called and said the owner rented it. WHAT A BAIT AND SWITCH MANEUVER. I WOULD RENT FROM THEM EVEN IF IT WAS FREE. FIRST THE UNIT WAS NO SMOKING AND THEN IT WAS SOME SMOKING. DONT EVEN GO TO SEE. THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND. WASTE OF GAS AND TIME.

The buildings appearance is nice from the outside but totally deceiving. The apartments are cheaply made with no isolation between the floors. I can easily hear my neighbors upstairs talking, doing their business in the bathroom and having sex in odd times in the middle of the night. Neighbors upstairs stomps their feet hard on the floor and jump out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I couldn't get a single quiet night sleep since I moved here. Water leaks in my living room from the neighbors upstairs due to poor flooring. I complained to the property manager multiple times but nothing she wanted to do. The community is filled with rude and dirty tenants. Someone with mental issues fired 17 rounds from his gun and a few buildings were hit in November last year. Luckily nobody got hurt. Each apartment has a dedicated numbered parking spot, however, other tenants park in my parking spot. When I complained to the manager she said there is nothing she could do and if I want I need to call a towing company on my own expense, absurd! Neighbors sitting out in front of the building and just stare at me every time I come and go. There is not enough room for the kids to play in such dense community so kids play on the roads which is dangerous, and it gets very noisy at night. It seems there is no proper tenant screening, what they care about is to fill empty apartments as soon as they could. Rent is not cheap at all, and it feels like living in a ghetto low income housing. I can't wait till my one year lease is over so I can move out!
