This is the place for anything kites and kite adjacent (windsocks, flags, spinners and the like) as Ron has the best selection and loves his kites. We are transplants to the Long Beach Peninsula so we were naïve about impact about our winter wind gusts on flagpoles. Ron not only helped us select the right size and strength of pole to accommodate our windsocks, but also described in detail how to plant the pole (tips, materials, process) for ultimate success. We currently are proudly displaying our WSU Cougar windsock purchased here. In addition, we found a Ladybug Whirlygig Spinner for a gift which was the reason why we came in here in the first place. Very cool kite store, a little on the spendy side but still a really cool kite store. We saw lot's of awesome flags and wind socks. Some very unique wind socks. I've been looking for an amazing pirate flag. Still looking. We did find a smaller pirate flag that says, "The Drinking Will Continue." We had to buy it. It'll be great for Halloween. They had a few really nice Seattle Seahawks flags. Little spendy, but still nice. read more

I always stop into a kite store when I see one. Stopped in with my wife and two grandsons while on a RV camping trip. Looked at a lot of kites and a flag pole caught my eye. I pulled it partially out of the velcro sealed bag to look closer when the guy working came and grabbed it out of my hand and informed me that he was there to answer any questions and he put the pole back on the rack. I asked him why he took it away from me and he said he assumed I didn't want it. He was very condescending and downright rude. I was ready to buy the 40 dollar pole, and some other items, but not after the way I was treated. And I won't ever set foot back in that store again. read more

Wind World is THE kite store for the Long Beach Peninsula, with the loss of the Above It All kite storefront. Sure you can order kites on-line, but if you want to maintain a local place where you can get those urgent needs, we need to support the brick & mortar, which I'm glad to do. Even during the pandemic, during the shutdown, I called a left a message that I needed some Revolution kite handles/lines. I had little hope of success, but shortly after got a call back from the proprietor and agreed to meet and I was able to complete a transaction - and FLY. Woot! I like the interior, with colorful kites and wind-laundry suspended everywhere, and prices to fit any budget from the low end to ultra high end kites. My experience with a 'problem' kite many years ago was satisfied, pointing out my own error and even offering to come out to the beach and assist. Good COVID protocols being followed here. read more

We went to the kite festival this year and stopped in this store a few times. Large selection of all kinds of kites, windsocks, and some flags. Cute place. Staff was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. They have several advanced 2 and 4-line kites as well. After comparing the price of a 2-line kite online, I purchased it here because I like supporting small businesses and the price was about the same, maybe even a little less. I think folks need to realize that this is a tiny business with a couple of old-timers in the kite universe. They don't have the means or inclination to let people stroll in, buy a kite, go fly it for an hour at the beach, then return it for whatever reason. Unfortunately, in today's world that's what a lot of people choose to do so they have to set boundaries. After getting back home I've decided to buy another kite. I was hoping they would have a website to order from but it doesn't look like it so far. I imagine they'd be able to sell quite a bit that way. I hope to be back some day, it feels like an instant classic must-visit place in lovely Long Beach, WA. read more

This store was fun. So many kites to choose from it was really hard to pick my kite. The prices there were fair for a small beach town I got a giant black shark it's made from a thick tent material. That stands up to the wind of the beach. I have used it in Long Beach and at Ocean Shores. I tried to buy some streamers for the shark and the man advised me not to waste my money because there really isn't anywhere to hook them. My giant shark was $22 well worth the money read more

Purchased a nice $100 kite on vacation, the first time we flew it (in mild wind, at Long Beach) the fabric ripped making it unable to fly. Went in to the store and told them of the manufacturer's error, and was told "We don't do returns, we can't help you." Way to stand by your product! The man behind the counter wasn't apologetic or even offered to fix it up for us (a needle and thread could have fixed this, but we were on vacation and didn't have that with us.) Stay away from businesses like this who don't back their product or care about their customers!!! read more

So me and my family got for kites we were pretty excited and we went down to the beach in a matter of like 30 to a whole hour they were just completely unusable they were just ripped like crazy and you didn't even give us a receipt. THE NERVE. Don't go to the store, just do not waste your time. read more

Loved the store and all of it's selections, but when we had trouble with the kite we purchased we received less than stellar customer service. We were told that we had broken the kite that we had in our possession for less that an hour and that yes it would be fixed for free but that we would need to come back the next day to pick it up because he just couldn't handle helping us while the door was chiming constantly (due to customers coming in and out). I received better help from the man who assisted us out on the beach than the man who sold us the defective kite to begin with. After we pick up our kite we will not be returning, I do not appreciate being accused of breaking something that I haven't even gotten full use of yet. That's not good customer service. read more

This is THE place to get a kite in Long Beach. As a beginner. I wasn't sure what to get. The the owner was patient and talked with me to find what would work best for me. I got an interesting box kite which takes more wind to fly but is very fun when you get the hang of it. I'm looking forward to getting another kite here next summer. read more

My partner and I decided that in this town that hosts a huge yearly kite festival and boasts amazing winds, we should get a kite on our little vacation. We stumbled across this small store in the dizzying cornucopia of small stores flashing their gaudy tail feather in an attempt to lure in tourists. I am embarrassed to admit that at first, I stereotyped the guy behind the counter as not possibly caring about kites. How wrong I was. If they made a movie about him, it would be called Dances With Kites. He understands the language of kites. He cares deeply about kites. He knows all about kites. And best yet, he has a phenomenal knack of finding just the right kite for _you_ - your personality, your tastes, what you enjoy, etc. We walked in thinking we wanted one thing, and walked out much much happier than we would have been. I got a beautiful but simple kite with a long flowing tail that dances in the wind, yet is extremely compact in its own little pouch that can hang from its little carabiner, good in most any wind and doesn't take much tending. My partner got a flashy geometric kite that can do some tricks, but isn't super demanding, and doesn't require any set up - it just pops up like a pop up book. If you want a kite, go here. read more
