But I'll leave that out and talk objectively. First up, the playground. It's nice, clean, and one of the biggest I went to as a kid. I thought it was really fun then, and it seems to still be the same now. There's plenty of open field space. Some made up for baseball, some just grass ready to run in OR play any game you want. Speaking of baseball, Rister Stadium's right there. As you're driving in, it's on the left. I'm not sure if it technically counts as "part of Tam O'Shanter Park" but it sure feels like it. There is PLENTY of parking. I remember as far back as before they added all the nice new paved lots. This park is also kind of "in a corner" for lack of a better term. What I mean to say is, there's other parks in town that can be right off a street, or even entirely surrounded by streets or other things. This is a big park, and secluded enough. Overall, I find there to be plenty of fun for the entire family. This is a frequently visited park, and very popular. Be sure to check out the drive-thru Christmas Lights every December! There are big dinosaurs and fake palm trees. The big dinosaurs are awesome! There are two sections of playground, swings, a sandbox, bathrooms, and an asphalt walking path around the park. There is a little kid playground and a big kid playground. The playground area is rubber. Outside of the playground, there is a sandpit with tons of sand toys inside. The park was very clean. The surrounding area is beautiful with big green trees. This is a great park!

My kids enjoyed the ziplines and bonus they set it up so I didn't have to pick up my kids to get them on it. The ground is the squishy astroturf stuff, which I think is nicer and more kid friendly than woodchips. There are clean restrooms available right next to the playground, with a water bottle filling fountain on the backside of that building. I've never seen a water bottle station at a park before (only normal water fountains) so that was cool. My only downside here: The playground area is completely open with no shade, so bear that in mind on hot days! When we visited it was in the mid-80's and we all got toasty quite quickly. There are two shelters with tables/benches available along the side, presumably mostly for parents and caregivers as the playground is so fun - good luck getting your kids to take a break from playing!

In return, we give back: annual trash pickups, painting over graffiti, planting native trees and shrubs, installing plaques, etc. It's a great partnership. We utilize the trails to ID plants, analyze water quality in Cedar Creek, catch insects, use the field for large activities... It's really helpful. Plus, there's a decent bathroom and a great play structure if we finish a lesson early.

The drive to Forest Grove felt long from Portland, but it was a nice drive. The reason was to visit Kama'aina Comfort foods, we got our take out from the food truck and had to find a place to enjoy our lunch. My daughter searched for a park on her phone and we happen to be nearby Joseph Gale Park. Who is Joseph Gale? He was an explorer, fur trapper and member of Oregon's Provisional Government Executive Committee (1843-44) He was Commander in Chief of the Oregon Territory Milita and also championed the rights of Native America. A small park in the Forest Grove Community, located right next to Joseph Gale Elementary school. We found street parking right in front of the park. Joseph Gale Park as I observed had a small playground with a few picnic benches. I noticed on this beautiful cool Sunday, 2 families utilizing the playground, a gentleman utilizing the picnic table reading a book, and my family enjoying our lunch on another picnic table. This park is small, very green and also clean.
