It's beautiful, sprawling, and accessible. The playground equipment is well maintained, and the free range of green grass is lovely, full of hills and beautiful. My only concern was the amount of garbage spread through the park. I had to keep an eye on my little guy to make sure he wasn't eating any candy wrappers. A bit more of a cleaning during the garbage pick ups could really help. We will be back very soon!

There are big dinosaurs and fake palm trees. The big dinosaurs are awesome! There are two sections of playground, swings, a sandbox, bathrooms, and an asphalt walking path around the park. There is a little kid playground and a big kid playground. The playground area is rubber. Outside of the playground, there is a sandpit with tons of sand toys inside. The park was very clean. One of the things I appreciated most was the visibility--there's seating thoughtfully placed all around the park, so no matter where your child is playing, you can easily keep an eye on them. There's even a grassy area under the trees where you can lay out a blanket and relax. Even on a hot day, the metal slides stayed cool thanks to the shade, which is a rare and welcome surprise! The kids there were all friendly, and the parents seemed attentive and involved, creating a really positive, safe vibe. My kids had a blast and would've stayed much longer if I hadn't forgotten snacks--lesson learned! We'll definitely be back, this time with a picnic and more time to explore.

This is one if the coolest free city parks ever! There's also a climbing wall, zip line kinda thing, and a really big sand lot with a volcano-kinda thing in the middle that is deceptively difficult to walk up because the sand makes it slippery! PLUS there's a splash pad water fountain wet area! That part is not open year round. I mean it's open, but the fountains aren't running in the winter. All this is surrounded by covered picnic tables, very large grassy areas, walking paths covered by trees. Car parking. Bicycle parking. Clean bathrooms. Friendly clientele. We entered from the east side of the park where there is pedestrian access. On the west side of the park near the vehicle entrance, there is a skate park! And 4 half basketball courts, plus a boulder, I guess for bouldering.

We went on a sunny day and it wasn't over crowded. -1 star for personal reasons: my daughter is young (19 mo) and was able to swing on the baby seat swing, however, she was not confident to try the older play structure. The structure seems more appropriate for 2.5 and older. It has a pretty cool rock climber for older kids. My experience makes me wonder if there are parks in Portland that are more inclusive for all children and their abilities? I hope that Portland Parks and Recreation would be willing to rethink how they can be more inclusive when designing a park. I will be the first to admit I know nothing about building a park, but If I did I would want everyone to feel included.

Plus walking paths through several acres of rolling hills with wonderful views immersed in nature. The splash pads are open again (until 7pm) and the kids were certainly joying them. The play structures are both stunning and interactive, even a look-out tower with a telescope that views a constellation ceiling. Very cool. Slides, step rocks, climbing structures, picnic tables in the open and shade, lots of benches, even water bowls for dogs - clearly a lot of thought went into the design and build of Spring Garden Park. It's close to Multnomah Village which is how I discovered it after visiting the food truck area and wanting someplace serene to enjoy my meal. Park right on SW Spring, just be mindful of not blocking the neighbors driveways as it's in a residential area. Close to SW Barbur.

We travel…read morewith our dog and one of the things I usually look for when exploring a new town is a nice local park where we can bring her along. I'd seen information online suggesting that this location was dog friendly, so I thought this would be an easy stop for us and routed us slightly out of our way to come here. Unfortunately that was not our experience. When we arrived, we discovered that dogs are not allowed in the Japanese Garden area and there were also signs throughout the park indicating that dogs are prohibited in many areas. It seems like they allow leashed dogs in parts of the park, but there are several restricted areas. So if you're traveling with a dog, I would recommend skipping this area entirely. It's not worth trying to decipher where it is and is not okay for you to be. Since we were already here we took turns checking out the gardens themselves and honestly they were pretty underwhelming. I don't know if we caught them at the wrong time of year, but there doesn't seem to be anything here that makes it worth the effort of a trip specifically to come in and see them. The park itself looked nice and people seemed to enjoy walking around the lake, but the gardens just weren't that impressive in my opinion. In hindsight, I really wish we had skipped this stop but if you don't have a dog or don't travel with one, you may enjoy this location.
