The front staff never apologizes to you for long wait times in line, often for 10+ minutes (once for 25 minutes). And though it may not be their fault if there are several patients in line, at least be kind to them once they reach the front desk. Plus, ensure there is more than one staff member upfront. In addition, the hygienist, Terri, has absolutely no personality, and it is so uncomfortable lying there for almost a half hour during her cleanings. Recent update: On May 12th, I went in for a cleaning, and the dentist came in for a basic checkup. I had a slight chip on my tooth and kindly asked if she could file it down. She impatiently said that she needed to make it quick, as she had another patient. Yet, I was her current patient who was treated like a number. Not to mention that the job only took a few minutes. I could tell it was such an inconvenience for her, and it made me feel so unvalued. I went from a high income earning and private insurance to receiving SSDI and state medical insurance. Unfortunately, though, I have no dental insurance, and therefore, have to go to a clinic that offers a sliding fee scale. Otherwise, I would NEVER go to Generations.

In exchange, we have the freedom of deciding when to go get help. I would choose an emergency room (in about a mile away from this clinic or up in Storrs) if I needed an immediate medical attention. Having said that, I will highlight my experience at this place: I have been to Med-East Medical Walk In Clinic 4 times in the past. I was always received by professional, friendly, fair, non-pretentious receptionists, nurses, and doctors. Unlike my past PCs, I did not feel rushed out in less than five minutes nor talked down when receiving care. The people there worked as a team, consistently making sure that I understood what was being said and done to me. Today I visited for a job physical, which isn't covered by insurance and cost $155. The doctor concluded that I needed to get my blood drawn at a third-party lab to complete my physical. At the lab, the receptionist/nurse could not tell me how much the procedure cost with and without insurance. I called up the parent company of the lab and my insurance company. After being tossed around for an hour, I learned that test cost about $350, completely out my pocket. In despair, I called Med-East to speak to the doctor who took in my physical. She was with another patient but the receptionist kept me on the line till she was available. When I got to talk to the doctor, she came up with an alternative test. I called the insurance company again to ask if this test is covered. He gave me a list of in-network facilities where the test would be 100 % covered. I went back to Med-East and the nurse came to check on my situation. I was surprised to know that all of them were on the same page; aware of what was going on with me. The nurse got the doctor to write up a referral to one of the in-network labs, and gave me direction to the facility. Thanks to them, I did not have to spend over $500 to get my physical done. This was accomplished not only by the doctor; the nurse assisted and communicated to the doctor for me, the receptionist helped me so I would get to speak to the doctor directly on the phone. All of them went out of their way to help me out when they were busy assisting other patients. I honestly didn't think I could expect that much professionalism combined with such a level of compassion. I am so grateful for the way they treated my personal concern as if their own. I just wanted to throw this out there so their review will at least be fair and about their professional conducts, not on what they cannot control nor predict. Thank you for reading this long review.
