I came here because of a positive review from my step mother. I don't care if this is the only place open. Don't eat here. The waitress is terrible. The owner is even worse. I took two bites of my meal and sent it back and instead of pleasantries I was met with offense. Apparently the owner IS the cook, and took it personally that my meal was inedible. A normal establishment will remove this from the bill with no qualms. Not here. They'll still charge you, just a discounted rate (; no worries! Alright this place wasn't too shabby at all. It's a small little restaurant in the port Mansfield area. One of two restaurants in this little spot. We brought our own fish that we caught today. We called ahead to make sure they could do that for us. The lady on the phone was very nice and sweet. She had the same personality in person and even knew it was us who called when we walked in with our filleted fish. If you bring your own fish, you entitled to one salad and one soup per person. We ordered hush puppies and fried pickles. While I didn't eat the hush puppies but my buddies did and they said these were the best they've ever had. The fried pickles were on point and tasted very delicious. Now for our fish, we had them blackened and fried. I definitely preferred the blackened over fried due to the flavorful taste it had compared to the fried. Wife and I decided we'd take a road trip away from SPI. Decided on Port Mansfield that is just up the coast. Yelped the restaurants there and chose Windjammers. After an hour of driving thru some of the biggest farm fields and hundreds of wind turbines we arrived in Port Mansfield. The joint is easy to find and we were the only people there for lunch. We ordered drinks one Tequila Sunrise and their Special of the day. Then ordered their fish sandwich with fries for me and onion rings for my wife. We waited it seemed like an hour but just long enough for me to get one more drink. The fish sandwich's arrived. Big thick portions with a pile of fries on mine and onion rings on my wife's plate. First bite to the last was fantastic. The fish was done perfectly and the fries and onion rings were crispy yet not over cooked. Well worth the wait. Our waitress was very attentive and even reminded me I left my cell phone on the table as we left. It was well worth the trip up to Port Mansfield to eat at The Windjammer. read more

Not to many options in this town, but that is known going into it. This place is a stable of good food and a good bar to go along with it. They have a good menu selection of seafood and other typical options for a small town. Don't expect 5 star service, that is not what this restaurant is about. They are there to serve fisherman and hunters after a long day on the water and that's exactly what they do. The place has been there a while and it has a lot of history on the walls. read more

Been eating here since 2000 and never had a bad meal. The service can be slow especially in the summer time when they are busy, but with help so hard to find the owner/operator/cook/waitress does the best that she can. The Windjammer excels in cooking your freshly caught fish, their seafood platter is excellent with made on location stuffed crab. Their gumbo is legit as well. The place is well decorated with old fishing gear and photographs which gives it a nice ambiance. read more

Service at best was sub par and truly poor? Let's get a further breakdown Now I can't confirm they were not the cooks and waitstaff at the same time, witch could have gave reason to this. 2 women converting 3 tables and a small bar area There were 3 tables when we can in with 9 people total. I had a party of 6, the 3 top left first and then the 2 person was gone which left only my table and the other table which ended up being like 12 people slowing arriving slowly over 2 hours and my 6 person two of which are 3 and 6 years old. And two heavily drinkers at the bar. For two people to serve.... get your own tea refills or come a get a can soda from bar...service didn't happen.. I went to bar for my drinks to get refilled for my aging father We order multiple appetizers( never ever came out even after 1 hour wait). We Address it and let us know they were at fault. Okay I get it. Thanks for being honest then the food comes... guys honestly I get it's frozen food but how do you run out of half the platter you offer and its frozen or thats really questionable fresh seafood... Only place open today. The service was good- friendly and helpful. The beer was cold and the Tito's was good. Food was tasteless. Fried shrimp plate and seafood platter- both were pretty tasteless. This place is nothing to write home about. I had fried (frozen) shrimp and my wife just had chicken strips. The fries were good and appeared homemade. The rest of the food came from the grocery store. We also each had pie, once again from the grocery store. See a theme here? The server was very nice and gave our kiddos a sea shell to take home.
