Both me and my nephew were a little daunted at the prospect of trying to drum in public, since neither of us had much skill. But Yari's way of teaching made picking up the basics easy and fun. Always innovative, smart and delicately balancing high brow with low brow this daring team of performers constantly raises the bar of comedy in the Bay Area. Their last production, The Jesus Roast was a major success. The Hitler Roast is even funnier. With videos, slide shows, scantly clad Boys from Brazil go go dancing, Comedy Noir pulled out all the stops to make this a most enjoyable evening of comedy. They have one last show at the Eureka Theatre on August 16th, then the entire show moves to Los Angeles for the month of September. Intelligently designed and written by Kurt Weitzmann and Howard Stone with a cast of some of the funniest comedians in San Francisco including Mark Pitta as Johnny Carson, Mari Esther Kaplan as Joan Rivers, Drennon Davis as Caligula, Nick Leonard as Hitler's Mother, Kevin Munroe as Edi Amin and Gaitlin Gill stealing the show as Anne Frank. A beautiful & haunting invention of Franklin's, the glass armonica, was played and explained by one of only 4 virtuoso musicians in the world who still play what was once the rage of chamber music, w/ composers like Mozart and Beethoven writing music specifically for this instrument. I can always learn something new about something old, and a refresher on the invention of America this fall is a Good Thing! Next event is in Febrary, on Tradition vs. Modernity in India. I'm going!

The bunny glasses were too big to be actually fit on either kids or adults. We had to run on our way out so no chance to take a pic with the cast. Aaanyway.
