The dog beach is about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot, and the trail is very well marked. The weather was great, so there were lots of dogs there enjoying the water. There are changing facilities and restrooms available near the parking lot, but not on the beach, so keep that in mind. Also I like that there are only two entrances to get into the playground area, and they're both way from the street. This makes me feel like my kids are more guarded. My negative is there are some sketchy people that do come out to just hang around here, and lots of people smoking around the playground.

This is the absolute best park!…read more It's like a treasure chest of a park for kids but also so scenic that adults will love it also. Lots of spots to explore in a perfect setting. There are books and crannies kids will love and also a large grassy area for relaxing or running around. I especially liked the amount of somewhat shady spots which is great for small children. Many other splash pad parks I've been to have the water area far from the rest of the facilities and it's a pain to go all over! This has fun equipment for kids young and old. Gotta love when the community takes initiative. From a landscape perspective, the pine and beech forest is breathtaking. As you approach Lake Michigan, the forest transitions into a maple, hemlock and beech community, which is beautiful even in the most dormant times of the year.
