I was bitten by a tick several days ago and started showing some worrying symptoms that suggested I may have been exposed to Lyme disease. I have never been particularly thrilled with the doctors at Windsor Family Medicine because most of them would rather stare at their computer than look at you while they're treating you but haven't had a chance to look for a new physician that my insurance will accept. I met with Dr. Flanagan on Saturday morning and appreciated that he was willing to see me on such short notice. Because I use a service dog for Tourettes Syndrome that interferes with my breathing and swallowing I did tell him that I had the disorder. He looked at the tick bite on my neck, spent some time asking me questions and typing on his computer, then gave me a prescription for Doxycycline. I asked him if the pills he was prescribing were large and he said it depends on the brand but they probably aren't too big. A few hours later I went to the pharmacy and picked up two capsules that are far larger than anything I can swallow. I called the answering service and requested that Dr. Flanagan call me so I could discuss alternate options for taking the Doxycycline. When he called me back I explained the problem- his response? "You're 24 years old. I think it's time to grow up and learn to swallow pills." Never mind the fact that trouble swallowing pills is an incredibly common problem. If this doctor knew ANYTHING about the patients he is treating he would know that Tourettes is a relatively common disorder that causes involuntary movements and can make every day activities like swallowing pills extremely difficult. He automatically assumed that my inability to swallow pills was a mark of immaturity and not a side effect of my disability. As another user said- run, don't walk, away from this facility. Find a different doctor- ANY different doctor. While the nurses have always been kind and welcoming, the lack of sensitivity from every doctor I have had there and the fact that they don't seem to be particularly interested in actually treating you- rather they want to move you in and out as fast as possible- mean your money and time are best spent elsewhere. read more

This was my first time using this office. The receptionist was very polite, and so was the nurse who wrote down everything prior to the doctor. The wait time was fairly quick with the usual new patient information packet. The doctor was very quick to judge and assume without actually hearing an explanation. Once I told him everything he was pretty reluctant to even refill my rx. He acted as if he was going to find a different conclusion than what my previous doctor did for me for 25 years. He sat on his laptop the entire time and kind of nodded every now and then. Overall.... No impressed. read more

Avoid Dr Kevin Flanagan at all costs. Today, I fired him as my doctor for he put my healthcare and well-being at risk. Now they are owned by Prohealth, their focus is on increasing revenue from patients regardless of the ability of their patients to afford it! I take prescription for high-blood pressure and he has refused to refill my prescription as discussed on my last visit. Run in the opposite direction... read more

My husband and I have been patients at Windsor Family Medicine/Health One for many years. We've referred numerous friends and family members there. I was shocked to see the bad reviews here on Yelp, but after reading them I think I can offer some explanation. Please note that other than being a patient there I am in no way affiliated with the practice. This is strictly an honest opinion based on personal experience and observation. Several years ago, in the time frame between 2012-13 when many of the negative Yelp reviews were written, there was a doctor employed by the practice (who's name escapes me) that was terrible- especially his demeanor. He really didn't seem to care about the patients at all. He wasn't there very long and is no longer with the practice. As far as the use of electronic tablets I can assure you that they are not used by doctors to get instructions regarding how to treat patients, as another review accused. That's utter nonsense. Electronic record keeping is commonplace now in medical practices and the use of these tablets is widespread. They're typing their notes instead of hand writing them- that's all. Dr. Flanagan has never been anything but professional, knowledgeable and compassionate to us and everyone we know who sees him. Hal Wright, a nurse practitioner we've seen often (especially with my elderly mother-in-law) is simply wonderful also. Since connecting with the ProHealth network they have access to more resources that make getting seen by a doctor much faster and easier. I'm sorry to get lengthy in this review, but in a world where people are more than happy to post when they are dissatisfied with a product or service I felt in order to present a fair balance I should share my thoughts. read more

I am very unhappy with the current Windsor Family Medicine. My husband and I, along with our children, were patients of this practice for over 30 years, starting back with the founders Dr. Li and Dr. Harris (who were excellent doctors). Over the years they also employed other very good doctors, such as Drs. Flanagan and Manning. But beware - this isn't the practice we remember! My husband only sees a doctor when truly necessary, and I called this morning to make an appointment for him. I was informed by the office staff that because his doctor of record has retired, and my husband hasn't been to the practice in 12 years (yes, they do obviously still have his records since they were able to determine the date of his last visit), their office policy states he would be considered a "new" patient - and their current doctors are not taking new patients! It is such a shame that the "Windsor Family Medicine" name has sunk so low. Although I personally saw Dr. Manning just last year, I will never return to this practice since they certainly do NOT value patients - or family. read more

I have been a patient here for over 25 years. I've been going here since Dr. Lee practiced, in fact she delivered three of my five children. My family went here, friends etc etc, it was the best back in the day, but I have since moved on. My Mother however is still a patient, and today I brought her here for an appointment. I can tell from hearing her on the phone with the receptionist that she will NOT be coming back. My mom had to call from the car, to say she had arrived (Covid), and she had it on speaker. The woman who answered the phone was just snappy and bordline rude. She asked my mom questions, then told her to head to the door, that someone would be there to take her temp. My mom, who is 80! Headed to the door, and proceeded to wait for nearly five minutes! She was just standing there, waiting. I got on the phone to call and tell them to get to the door because she was waiting, but they finally came and I hung up. They are lucky I wasn't allowed go inside, I'd love to tell them about themselves. What a shame this place is now garbage with trashy, rude people working for them. Unless you want to be treated like you don't matter, avoid this place at all costs. read more

I have gone to Windsor Family Medicine for over 20 years and have had no problems until I had Dr. Flanagan.This is a part of a letter i wrote my attorney about my experience with "Dr. Flanagan " Dr. Flanagan said he would not prescribe me anymore Tramadol for my back or headaches and said if I wanted anything stronger that I would have to go to the emergency room. I asked him why should I have to and he said he could do nothing for me even though I told him that I was going to a neurosurgeon for my headaches. I have not been sleeping much because of them and he really did not seem to care. After some words were exchanged I told him he would not be primary care physician. I did some research online and found on yelp.com that other people have had the same problem with him and that he was rude and unsympathetic to patients situation. Also they were comment on how Health-One formerly Windsor Family Medical center has gone downhill with their last bunch of doctors and new receptionists. I have gone there for over 20 years and 3 doctors later it comes to this. I was accused of being rude and threatening to the receptionist when they were in full-well knowledge of my headaches and back pain. Yes I was irritated and in pain at every visit. My blood pressure was off the chart at every visit and Dr. Flanagan would not even acknowledge that it was from the pain I was in. He came up with sleep apnea or hypertension, obesity and seem to ignore the fact that I was in any kind of accident. I was going to write a formal complaint to the CT. State Health department but I have had enough with him. I also found out that he got his Associates, B.A and Masters at the University of Guadalajara Mexico. Nothing against Mexico but if I had known that the primary care physician who my life would depend on was educated from some 3rd world country I would have had nothing to do with him. I should have done some homework before considering him as my Doctor. So right know I am taking Naproxen for my back and nothing for headaches except alieve which does not help much." I've been a patient with this practice for years. After my doctor left the practice a few years ago, I called to make an appointment with one of two new doctors and was told "they aren't accepting new patients." I couldn't believe it! They were brand new to the practice! I was placed with a nurse practitioner who, as mentioned in other reviews, spent the whole time with her nose glued to her laptop. She was fine for routine visits but when I came in with a severe pain in my side, thinking it was kidney-related, she told me "that's not where your kidney is located." I sought a second opinion with another practice and turns out it was a kidney stone. Needless to say, I didn't return to Windsor Family Medicine after that. read more
