Loved this place! We have been searching for a location like this! The Causeway Islands Park in…read moreSanibel Florida are stunning. It is composed of different "islands" with various entrances. Each location has a different parking set up. We visited the Causeway Islands Park - Island A (first island to the right after the toll). We were able to park our truck right on the beach, grab our beach chairs and lounge in the water :) Waters were clear, with plenty of shells :) We drove around to scout the area. Other entrances offer parking away from the water but it is merely a couple of steps away. Still making it comfortable to be close to your personal belongings as needed. This is a dog friendly beach, but like many other locations, must be kept on the beach. Please adhere to the rules.

It's completely empty of trees. But now there's lots of space for cars to bring their families to hang by this beach. You still pay for the toll to get on the island $6, but the hourly rate that's on the Sanibel & Captiva beaches don't apply to this beach. Which is why we went. We also really liked our car close by. I was super happy I brought my beach shoes. It's been a while I used them. There are lots of huge shells in the water so it's hard to walk without them. The water was nice and it's a convenient spot to refresh in the water. People also bring their jet skis and boats here. I do love the Sanibel beaches but I don't want to pay for the hourly rate. So this was good for us. They only have portapotties here no bathrooms like the other beaches

Had a 9:36 tee time, arrived at 9 and got checked in. Decided to buy a small bucket of range balls…read moreas well. Total was about $117. The attendants had my bag loaded on a cart and I checked in with the starter to let him know I was going to the range real quick. He said I was paired up with some members. Ok cool. I got to the range and there was no ball machine! Apparently you grab the balls just outside of the pro shop. Dang. They should've told me that. I told them I was a newbie there. Luckily, there was a half used bucket from another person, left behind. I used about 8-9 of their bucket and went back to the club. I showed them my receipt and told them to donate the bucket to another person. They instead said just take them to the chipping area, so I did. I chipped a couple and left the bucket there. I putted a few times to get the feel of the greens and then I headed to the women's locker room to check it out. It was nice, spacious, clean. Love their little birdie board celebrating their wins! I was paired up with members alright- new members; a family of 3. It was a lady and her son, and her husband. They said they were not very good and just started up playing. I mean what do you say to that? So I was stuck with them. There was a group of 4 ahead of us and another group behind us so I said, as long as the group behind us isn't hitting balls into us, meaning we keep pace, it should be fine. The starter asked if I wanted to share a cart with the lady, I politely said no. I didn't wanna be driving all over the course for both of our balls (this was a good decision). So we headed out. The family was super nice and thankfully they were teaching their kid the right way- not letting him start and finish holes. Yeah he got a hit off the tee but then he got to drop where his mom was. Most of his balls were picked up along the way. He chipped and putted mostly. The guys in front is us were so slow that it honestly didn't matter that the kid was learning alongside us. The course itself was very nice. The front nine treated me better than the back nine, but maybe that's because we hit the FOUR HOUR mark and still had three holes to go. Sheesh. We were waiting on that foursome almost every single hole on the back nine. They had no business hitting from the blue tees. They need to move UP. The course had a few bathrooms and water/ice stations along the way. Mulligans, their cute little outdoor shack with plenty of seating, looked awesome. You get there at the turn. They had all sorts of snacks and drinks. We stopped real quick to use the restroom there and fuel up. As I said, course was well maintained. No issues at all. I played well. The guys at the shop were super nice, letting me know they're punching out next week and there's a tournament Saturday, so I can plan my week of golf appropriately. They thanked me so many times for coming to play there. Super nice. They mentioned twilight tee times will start soon. The time for that will be after 4:30 and heavily discounted prices. Right on. I don't know what memberships cost or what they include. Carts are middle of the way. It's not quite GPS but the screens tell you how far to the middle of the green, and distances from the tees for important things on each hole such as bunkers. There are some areas with shade along the course, but not much. Water is present on many holes. Trash cans and ball washers are abundant. I would definitely play here again. They're going to start renovating the back nine next year, to make the fairways more undulating like the front 9. It's gonna be real nice!
