This big property is now mixed-use residential and commercial property, but it was originally a cotton mill back in 1860. I really hate this part of history, but I am just explaining the history of this complex. They produced the material for the Confederate uniforms during the Civil War. The Eagle Mills buildings were burned during the war, but were rebulit in 1869 and renamed the Eagle & Phenix Mills to symbolize rising from the ashes. In December of 2003 the mill property was repurchased by W. C. Bradley Co.. If you drive around Uptown Columbus you will see that name on most of the properties along the Chattahoochee River. Just "Google" it and you will learn more history of the property. Check out my photos.
