I can not say enough good things about Windward Equipment Rentals. Over the years we've rented all sorts of equipment from them. Rollers, trenchers, etc. Their service is excellent, the equipment is clean and well maintained, and they will deliver and pick up the item from your house/job site. This time we called them for a scissors lift so we could retrieve our macaw Makana from a very tall tree. He was 40ft up, and perched on very thin branches that would never support the weight of a human. I was beside myself with worry because we spent the previous day chasing him from tree to tree in Lanikai. We even called the fire department hoping they would let us climb their ladder to get him down. Unfortunately, the fire department would not let us go up their ladder. The fireman went up and he did have hold of my macaw, but somehow Makana managed to get away and took off flying. It was dark, we didn't know where he went, and our whole family was so stressed. At daybreak, Makana started screaming for me. Neighbors started calling to say they heard him, or they saw him in the tree and we rushed down there. Makana was so high in the tree. We called for him. He called for me. We did everything we could to coax him down. Brought food. Brought his mom on the scene and had her calling to him. He was too scared to budge from that spot. I told my husband to get me a lift so I could get him down. Most companies don't deliver heavy equipment like this ASAP. You have to schedule it in advance. But when my husband called windward equipment rentals and explained the situation, they were so accommodating. They had the scissors lift on the scene within minutes. Seriously, within minutes. The operator was so nice and professional. Every aspect of getting the lift to scene, unloaded, set in place, taking me up there, sliding the platform forward so I could retrieve my macaw, went so smooth and easy. It was perfect. I got my bird back safe and sound. I was so relieved, I cried tears of joy. Everyone watching was cheering, clapping and jumping up and down in the street with joy. I am so very grateful. I've had this bird for about 20 years, since he was 2 months old. He is part of our family. When a business helps you to rescue and save the life of your family member, that's priceless. They offered first time rental of 10% discount or free delivery service on the Windward side. And I believe I read contractor/ business pricing. I have a small SOD farm in Waimanalo. After making reservations for the forklift online and setting up credit card payment online, I called and spoke with the owner Rob S. To confirm. Rob was very courteous and service oriented. The morning of scheduled delivery I received a phone call from the office manager (sorry forgot name) to DocuSign Rental agreement. I was unable to electronically sign the agreement? Mark P. delivered the forklift, he was courteous and professional. I rented the forklift for 1 day. At the end of the day, I texted the owner Rob and told him I finished the job and the forklift could be picked up. When it comes to renting tools, I usually make the trip from Kailua to the home improvement store in town. It just so happened that the tool I was looking for was out of stock and it was unknown when it would be returned. So I made my way back to Kailua and wondered what I could do. Through a simple Google search I came across Windward Equipment Rental right in Kapa'a Quarry and decided to give them a shot. Their rental price was identical to the home improvement store but their equipment was clearly in much better condition. From what I could see, they have everything the big stores have. The entire process was painless. I called to inquire about having the tool in stock which they confirmed. I was directed to their online order form and within minutes I was confirmed and my tool was ready for pickup. While I didn't utilize it, it appears they also have delivery service which is great I no longer see a reason to make a trip to town when I'm in need of a rental, and that means a lot. Quick and easy rental service with good equipment. I rented a mini tiller and sander. The tiller was full of gas and they provided extra sanding sheets for the sander so I didn't need to make a trip to the hardware store. Pickup and drop off were very smooth and easy. I needed some heavy duty tools to help with digging post holes for a fence after discovering tons of cement buried under my backyard and was lucky enough to find this company that is located about 10 mins from my place. Shania was very helpful and easy to work with. I called first and confirmed that they had both tools I needed. She suggested that I complete my Rental Request on their website (very easy and quick to do), then she emailed me back within 5 mins of my request with contract to sign. I was able to reserve and pay for the rental online, before driving there to pick up both tools I needed, all within about 20 mins. I ended up needing the equipment a little longer than I expected due to the weather, but Shania was very understanding and helpful with extending our contract and all for a very reasonable price! I rented a mini excavator the Cat 301.7, awesome machine. Rob keeps his stuff super clean and must put in a lot a labor on the upkeep. I will be probably renting the dingo with the stump grinder attachment next as my yard project is ongoing.
