I went into Windy Chevrolet on December 30, 2022 in desperate need of a good used vehicle. Upon selecting one, I asked about its maintenance record and timing belt/chain status. They assured me it was not an issue. I laid $1500 down and financed the rest. The car lasted only 8 weeks before the timing belt failed on the highway. I'm now making monthly payments on a dead vehicle that Windy Chevrolet will not stand behind. Horrible experience. Horrible business. Update: it's now been over 2 years, and I've corresponded with them 4 times, including a recent attempt on Dealerrater.com. They won't stand behind the vehicle they unloaded on me. The staff is promp, polite and friendly, no problem. We dropped off the car for an oil change with an appointment. The oil change took almost 2 hours. I checked the oil when I got home to find no oil on the dipstick. One full quart short (Not the 1st time). We have a 6 quart system, they added 5. Free oil changes for life is of no value if the mechanic can't even check the oil level before returning the vehicle. I called twice and got voice mail, Ileft my information requesting a call back. My experience with Windy Chevrolet was at first great, and then once I had issues with my car- which was 8 months after i bought it- and needed to bring it in, is when I noticed many issues going on in the business *I HAD TO THREATEN TO SUE THEM FOR THEM TO ACTUALLY WORK ON MY VEHICLE AND GIVE IT BACK TO ME* My car sat in there shop for 3 MONTHS all due to fuel injectors- everyone i had been talking to told me fuel injectors are an hour and a half process... why was my car there for 2 months before I could pick it up? I am not sure and never got a clear answer on why my car was there for a total of 3 months, just "i'm so sorry, this is on us" etc. Just repeatedly saying sorry about the situation and it was on them (No shit!) I had picked it up after 2 months in the shop only for it to die on me again 20 minutes later after picking it up.. at first they told ME to tow it back since they didn't offer tows, they ended up paying for the tow and they said it was on high priority and they're going to get it back to me asap. The only reliable and affordable option I had was to keep my car there and let them fix it, and then it sat there for another 3 weeks before I told them I was upset with the service and going to start looking into legal actions.. a week later they magically had my car done! So my assumption is, my car was just sitting there untouched until i threatened to sue. With how long the process took to fix one thing-fuel injectors. And the fact I was barely communicated with and only talked to them when I had called- I was under the impression something bad or unrepairable had happened to my vehicle and they weren't telling me. NEVER has anyone I have talked to had a car experience like this, mind you this is my first time buying a car on my own and this is my first experience brining it into a shop, and being a young female, I fear that's why I was brushed off so many times until I had to get my grandparents to drive 3 hours away to talk to them and see what was going on. Bought a vehicle here about 3 months ago: so far, everything is good, but I will update this review if it turns out to be a sour deal. I also can't speak to repair/maintenance here as I haven't used and probably never will due to my preference for mom and pop mechanics. This is a truck-heavy dealership so if you need a truck this is a good place to go. The salesperson mentioned that they also apparently will do trade ins on non-passenger vehicles such as boats and ATVs which is interesting. As for the buying experience, they were friendly but not too over-the-top-car-salesperson-sleazy which was nice. I didn't feel pressured into buying anything. They let you test drive on the highway not just city roads, so you can get a good feel for the vehicle at all speeds, which was important for me as I was buying a stick shift. Before I went in, the salespeople were also very responsive and helpful over texting and phone calls and even had me text them photos of my trade in so they could give me a guesstimate trade in value. This was helpful so I could know what I was working with before I made the drive to the dealership (I live on the other side of the pass so going in person was a bit more of an ordeal than normal). The owner Ron is a joke, not a man of his word and doesn't care about his customers. I bought 2 cars in 2 yrs from them with a total of over $100,000. I would've expected to be treated right since they sold me bad tires. I bought all season premium tires from windy and the tires only lasted 2 yrs. He did say he would make it right and agreed to get the same quality premium tires like I purchased from them and I would only pay half the price and we shook on it. So when I got my car back, i had to looked up the tires and seen they are budget tire but top budget tire. The price difference in the tires were about $250 which is a huge difference in quality. I called him today Feb 28, 2024 and told him I found premium tires at the Les schwabs that I wanted because I had premium tires that I had on before and he refused to pay half like we shook on. He had to pay an extra $150-$200 for the tires that was the same quality I had before but refused. Also telling me he will send me to collections for a bill I never received and threatening me. On top of that he confessed of taking tires off cars and selling them as new. This is one place I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Also if you looking for a used car DO NOT buy from they. I traded in my car and they put it back on the lot for double of what they got it for and 5,000 more then what I got it for. It wasn't that way when I brought it in and it was out as soon as I drove away. I was excited and looking forward to working with Windy Chevrolet on buying a 2024 chevy trax especially after I saw their post on Craig's list for stock number 008329NC with a sales price listed a little under msrp. The listing also had the stock number listed as well. I called and talked to a very nice and helpful salesman (Josh) to verify 2 things first if the suv was still available and second if they would honor the price it was listed for since it was under msrp. Josh said he had to check with his sales manager to make sure they would honor the price and when he called me back his exact words where it's your lucky day management said yes they will honor the price for today only (10-6-23) because they said it was priced incorrectly. I told them no problem I was ready to buy the car today and they had me send them all my information. After we determined I was going to be keeping my old car and not trading it in because they didn't want to give me what I wanted for it which wasn't a problem. I was just gonna sell it on my own. I then gave them permission to run my credit so we could wrap up the deal and I could come pick up the new car and then I get a call from the sales manager thinking he's calling to discuss terms and payment options but in reality he was calling to say they would no longer honor the price that they said they would that was also on the deal sheet that they sent me. I was under the impression this was a done deal i was super excited to be buying a new car at a good price but now I'm not because the owner will not honor the deal. If they just would've said no, from the very beginning, this could have all been avoided but they didn't they said they where going to honor it but the way they backed out at the very end was very unprofessional like. The only good thing that came from the situation is they supposedly didn't run my credit. I have attached a deal sheet and some screenshots of the text to prove my points. I've been to a lot of dealerships in my life, and I can't say enough good things about everyone I had the pleasure of dealing with at Windy Chevrolet in Ellensburg. My family and I were on a road trip last Father's Day weekend to a car show in Idaho when my truck went into limp mode on the freeway. I called the dealership, and the service writer knew what it was and said they would try to fit me in to get it repaired. The problem I had was the fully restored show car on the trailer I was towing. Made me very nervous on what to do with it overnight as one of the parts was being overnighted from Spokane. They shared my concern and allowed me to park it inside next to the owner's beautifully restored K10 pickup and had a guy hang out that night to keep an eye on things. He shared with me his cell number to give him a call if I needed anything that night. They recommended a hotel in town and a good place to eat and dropped us off at the hotel for the night. The next day they had my truck in the shop first thing and once the part arrived, installed it, and we were back on the road by noon. As seamless as it could get. From the salesmen I talked to, parts folks, service writers and techs, to the lot guys and security everyone was amazing and went above and beyond to take care of us. I needed one simple repair. A change in the computer software that could be accomplished simply by plugging a computer in to the OBD2 port, opening the body module screen, and turning off one option. I brought the car in for a 10:00 appointment. The person behind the counter did not seem to understand what I was asking him to do, and he did not give me a receipt or an estimate. I figured that I would just deal with that later on. 3 hours later, I'm told the car is ready. When I pick it up, I'm hit with a bill for over $200. I asked the person who rung me up, and he said "programming ain't cheap." It's not like they had to bring in a code monkey to fix this problem. I don't understand how that fits in at all with hourly labor rates, which incidentally were not posted in anywhere I could see in the service department. I understand that we sometimes charge for the use of specialized tools. I used to work as a tech myself and had to explain this to many customers. However, this was excessive. read more

The main 'Rental Car' company was Enterprise who was closed from end of day Friday to Monday morning. Option: rent Friday thru Monday and maybe not even need the car. Called Windy and got a totally different approach. Michael suggested to call Saturday morning when plans known and go from there. Turned out trip was actually finalized late Saturday afternoon and they had the car I needed. So, a complicated situation worked out (with the help of Jordan Saturday) and was able to make the trip. Bottom line, these guys are easy to work with, not bound by corporate or internet rules and will help you out. I did not have a lot of time to waste as I needed to get back to Portland that evening. He was very efficient and respectful of my time. We needed a rental car in Ellensburg. I had called Windy Chevrolet after we broke down as Enterprise had already closed. Even though the dealership was open, the rental office was closed. The person I spoke with was very helpful. We thought we might need a cab to get us back to Ellensburg and he looked up cab companies for us and gave me the number to call in the morning. The next morning I tried Enterprise first and they had absolutely no cars until - maybe - later that afternoon. Then I called windy and they had two cars available. I wasn't sure how I would get there, but they sent their service shuttle to the KOA campground to pick me up. They provided great service, I would rent from them again if I needed to. read more

A week later, same thing started happening with my car, engine light on. took it back to them, they said they could not find "the error code", reset engine light. a couple days later the engine light came on again, took it in and the turbo charger was needing replaced, this was covered under warranty, so they changed it. never called me when car was done, I had to call them so I could pick up my car. a week later check engine light came on again! took to O'Reillys for a code assessment, some kind of air intake problem, called Windy City Chevrolet, they checked it couldn't find anything wrong, reset my engine light. Once again 3 weeks later my check engine light came on. took it back to them, this time they said there was a crack in my intake line and it had to be replaced, you guessed it more $$$$. I have had multiple Chevrolets and never had these kind of issues before. Windy City Chevrolet does not care about 100% satisfaction of their customers, its just bring it back and we'll take a look. I will never go there again, my car is still under warranty and I will go out of town to find a mechanic that is professional and cares. There was a dent that they said would be popped out in the detailing and I was told they had misplaced the spare key. When they brought me the car after the detailing, the dent was still there. I asked why and he said he wasn't sure but they weren't going to take it back to fix again. I asked where the spare key was... he said they couldn't find it and he'd let me know if it turned up. He called a few weeks later and asked me to give a Yelp review on his behalf. I asked about my key and he said they didn't find it and I'd have to buy one if I wanted a spare key. So..... She was told their technicians were getting off soon and they could not help her. Did nothing to help diagnose what might be wrong and told her to drive to north bend, so they could look at it the next day. I wanted to like Windy Chevrolet. I went to Windy Chevy to purchase a 2008 Subaru Legacy. It was a decent price and our salesman was nice. We were being tossed between two salesmen, Jesse and Jamie. Jesse was awesome, Jamie was nice, but a little pushy and had the "fake car salesman" niceness on. Anyway, we purchased the car, went over all the paperwork, and, after 4 hours in the dealership, we drove off the lot with our Subaru. 10 minutes after we drove off the lot, the head gaskets failed. Antifreeze dumped out of the car and the engine overheated. I wasn't even able to get it to my house. We called Windy Chevy and they came and picked up the car. This was all on a Friday. Understandably, I did not want to purchase an extremely broken car. I had signed paperwork that gave me 72 hours to return the car if something crazy like the engine exploding (or the head gaskets failing), happened. I was told that the car had not been sent through safety and mechanical inspections before they sold it to me. I called on Saturday to get an update on the car and wasn't able to get ahold of anyone. Nobody knew how to answer my questions or who to point me to. I wanted to back out of the sale, and I told them that. Nobody contacted me on Saturday, even though I called about 4 times. Sunday rolls around, they're closed. I finally get a call from the head repair guy informing me they're going to start the repairs, and it would be $2,200. I did not give them the go ahead to repair the car, and I wasn't going to pay for repairs on a car that, by law, should've been ready to go at the time of purchase. I went in to get things straightened out and was told to come back at a later time to figure things out. I had to go to the dealership 6 times that day before I was told to come back the next day, Tuesday. On Tuesday, I talked to the general manager who said that WA state doesn't allow us to just cancel the financing and back out of the sale, even though I had paperwork that I signed stating I had two days from the purchase date to return it. They didn't contact me on Saturday, and they were closed on Sunday, so I was cheated out of that opportunity. I was now stuck. The GM told me I had two options: Pay for the repairs or finance for a more expensive, different vehicle. I considered taking them to small claims court because they cheated me out of my rights as a consumer. After spending 5 hours at the dealership, we finally decided to finance for a newer, more expensive car, as I was NOT going to pay for repairs. What initially was only supposed to be an $8,000 purchase became a $12,000 purchase, and as a broke college student, that's a tough thing to do. We had our new car, a 2014 Ford Fiesta, which was cute with good gas mileage. 2 days later the transmission failed, and now we have a new broken car. DO NOT deal with Windy Chevrolet. After stopping for lunch on a Friday while passing through the car would not start and acted like a dead battery but jumping didn't help. We called Windy Chevrolet to see if they could get us in that afternoon. After we checked fuses while waiting for a tow truck, Allison called back to check on us. At the shop they went right to work trying to sort it out. They finished sorting it out Monday and we were back on our way. Everyone was terrific and the final bill was very fair.
