(Kari's Rating 7.5/10)…read more TLDR -Up-to-Date equipment -Work from home spaces -Convenient Healthy Market Came with a friend to hang out on a Wednesday around 5:30pm to see what East Bank Club is all about. After seeing all the crazy amenities which were super cool with a ton of variety, I think the thing that surprised me the most is how up-to-date all of the equipment was and the variety of activities they had for people to enjoy. If you're looking for an all encompassing workout/work space, this is it! They have everything from full-size tennis courts, to a golf simulator-like set up,except you get to hit into an inflatable pillow! They also had plenty of Pickleball courts, and they offer so many different workout group classes.both a wet and dry, sauna, and tons of treadmills and free weights. I was also really impressed that they also had a physical training area. So think something that was my personal favorite and the best thing for Chicago Summers is a beautiful rooftop pool and lounge area. Not only did they have two outdoor pools (one for adults and one for kids) but they also have an indoor pool as well for winter as well as an indoor hot tub! They also had a common area workspace where people can come to take meetings and do their work from home gigs. You could practically move in here haha! As of right now, it is a $750 new membership fee as well as $295 a month, which is a pretty hefty chunk of change if you ask me considering most of the high rises around, have some kind of rooftop pool and workout area. It is cheaper if you join with a domestic partner or if you're between the ages of 16 and 29-see pic for current pricing. They also sometimes host social events which is super fun to meet everyone else in the club, but at the same time I think it is more of an investment in your future and your future health if you can afford it! I will not be joining at the moment, but hey-that could change anytime if I decide I should be on a health kick.

Expensive but worth every penny. A great "country club" in the city. Friendly and knowledgeable…read morestaff.

Forteza Fitness is a supportive group who pushes you to do your best and work with whatever you can do. Taking any kind of class can be overwhelming especially when you have difficulties with the exercise. Everyone from the teachers to other students are so patient and work with my abilities and support each other as we go through the classes. I have struggled with classes because of trying to train my muscles to work a certain way or having the stamina, but the support at Forteza keeps pushing me and helping to make me stronger/heathier.

The space is set up mostly for the martial arts, so that it feels like a set for period movie about Queen Elizabeth. It's a very comfortable space for bookworms to come work out. The fitness classes are very fun. They tend to be small, with lots of personal, gentle attention. Trainers get to know the regulars and the regulars get to know each other, which makes each workout friendly and welcoming. And I got a great deal on personal training. The workouts themselves are usually a bit more focused on strength and flexibility over cardio/endurance. The one drawback (for those who use the space more for fitness) is that it really is more of studio than a gym. There's no showers and no treadmills. Somehow I'm far more motivated to work out here than I was at other places I tried, where I'd just end up donating my gym membership month after month. At Forteza I feel like I'm getting a personal training . . .in a class setting . . three times a week. Like it's gym class again but for fun people with nice teachers. It's a gym class that's redeemed itself. They've fixed gym class. It's glorious.

At the very start everything seemed ok. But then one beautiful day our company was about to do dance class but once we arrived floors were dirty , full of sand and salt. So instead of apologizes they gave us a broom in a very rude maner. Ok. We cleaned once and we were full of hope that this kind of situation never happens again. Yesterday we came as usual and floors were dirty again. And the manager told us to clean floors again. Wait, wait , wait... THIS STUDIO WAS BOOKED AND PAID . I guess we deserve discount and our salary for cleaning their business space after other customers . By the way they charge cleaning fee from people who left floors dirty, so that basically means that they have to provide cleaning service for next customers. There s a very rude manager who came 10 minutes before our paid time ( Including a fact that we spent 20 minutes to clean space by ourselves just to get what we paid for. Ridiculous .) And after girls asked them to let them finish a lesson for a couple more minutes , he came and just took our equipment out of outlets and told us to leave immediately. Well. I would recommend everyone to avoid this place and their management. By the way we didn't got any apologies and we will continue deal with this situation . I think this situation happened because of sexist and racist management. Host name of this place SARAH HAYES and KELLY COMBS. Despite my repeated requests for help or to speak with a manager at a later time, I was repeatedly told, "manager is not available," and ultimately told that "someone may call me back in a few days due to high volume of calls." I have never before encountered such unhelpful and frustrating customer service. Given that membership pricing increases significantly each year, experiences like this are concerning. If service continues at this level, I may need to reconsider my membership, as other gyms offer both competitive pricing and better customer support.

You can find pretty much any equipment here -- punching bags, sleds, reformer machines, etc. There is a good mix of group fitness classes here included in the membership price. Equinox has a reputation for being fancy -- thus the high price of this gym. However, I don't think this *particular* location really warrants the high price. This location isn't as flashy and new as comparably-priced gyms (like the Lincoln Common Equinox or the Midtown Athletic Club). It also lacks the extensive amenities of a place like East Bank Club (which has tennis courts, kayaking, basketball, etc). A membership at this location will give you access to some of Equinox's newer, fancier facilities (like Lincoln Common) as well as some of its convenient locations for office workers (Loop branch). If you live in Old Town / southern Lincoln Park and want a gym that's close-by this is probably the best option in the neighborhood.
