The Dog Knowledge - My pup at TDK..clearly very happy!

This is our second time using The Dog Knowledge. We have become such busy people as a society and…read morethe thought of trying to train our dogs without help was just too overwhelming. The 4 week program gave us the perfect foundation to build on and have a well behaved member of our family. Highly recommend

We just finished a four-week board and train with Carson at The Dog Knowledge. Worth every penny!…read more Not going to lie - the first couple weeks were rough on us, not him. We missed him like crazy and worried about how he was feeling. Dennis actually had us come in halfway through, showed us what Carson had been learning, and said something that I keep thinking about: Carson wasn't missing us. Not because he doesn't love us, but because dogs live in the now. He was busy, focused, doing his thing. We felt so much better after that. Carson came home happy and calm and confident. He understood the rules and felt good about it. And he wasn't (as our son put it) a "bot" now - he was the same sweet and goofy pup but now, he could follow instructions and maintain self control when we needed him to. The staff were also straight with us about the fact that he'd have setbacks. That's normal. They spent a lot of time explaining what you do when it happens. In fact, they spent almost an entire day with all the families at graduation - going over what the dogs learned, getting you hands on practicing how to do it, answering questions, and really teaching a ton of helpful information. We're about to set up our in-home training visit, which will be for all of us, including our three kids - really great to get everyone aligned with Carson's training. The Dog Knowledge is fantastic! We are members now and plan to board our dog with them whenever we go on vacation. I cannot imagine trusting any place like we trust them.

Carolina Canine Training - Puppy Training

To think where we would be without Liz at Carolina Canine Training is scary! Like everyone else we…read moregot a puppy and thought we could manage with the training ourselves with just a typical puppy class. You know the story.... Life got in the way and our efforts were just not making the cut.... it was time to turn to a Professional! Thinking about leaving our "baby" in the care of someone else for 4 whole weeks was a bit scary at first! As soon as Banks met Liz and seemed to just melt around her all of our fears were quickly gone! Liz has the presence where dogs just know to respect her :) 4 weeks later Banks was walking on a leash well enough for a toddler to walk him, had learned how to "Place" on his bed and went into his Kennel with ease. He no longer jumped all over us and had a sense of calm about him we had never seen before. I only wish I would have taken a Before video as the changes were that remarkable. Banks is a very smart dog but we were very amazed at the things he was able to master in his 4 weeks at Carolina Canine Training. I can't recommend this team enough and am so thankful we have a place to send our next puppy!! I wonder if they take kids too? ;) Oh, and we loved all of the updates we received via email, text and phone. I'm pretty sure the hardest part of dog training might be dealing with the parents!

We've never used a pet-sitting business before, but we were going away for several days and felt…read moreuncomfortable asking a friend to visit our house twice daily to feed both the cats and dog, let out the dog, and give medication to one of the cats. Plus, we were a little tired of paying a kennel to watch the dog AND to have someone stop by for the cats. One of my friends works occasionally for Happy Tails, so I asked her her thoughts on it (she lives too far to make frequent visits to our house). She highly recommended Happy Tails outside of working for them, so we decided to give them a shot. We were a little reluctant giving a total stranger the key to our house, not to mention putting the well-being of our furry children in their hands, but we had to do something. The owner, Shelly, took care of the arrangements and we met Jason, who would be watching our pets and house during our absence. Jason seemed very nice and we liked that he had two dogs of his own. Upon our return, we were VERY impressed that Jason had not only looked after our pets, but sat with the dog for 1/2 an hour each time so he wasn't locked up in his crate all day, gave the one cat his medication twice daily, rotated leaving lights on in the house so it didn't look totally deserted, scooped the litterbox (even though we told him it wouldn't be necessary for the length of time we'd be gone), and even took out the garbage! Jason (and Happy Tails) went above and beyond our expectations, and it was cheaper than using the kennel, we were able to see the dog right when we got home (instead of waiting for kennel hours), someone looked after our house, and we didn't have to pull double-duty with the dog one place and the cats in another. What a great service and end to our trip! For our longer out-of-town trips when we feel guilty asking friends to make so many visits, we'll definitely use Happy Tails again.
