The staff is always friendly and happy to offer suggestions based on what they have available. They also have two wine‑a‑rita machines and regularly rotate the flavors. I'm still hoping they'll bring back the Dreamsicle flavor one day; that one was excellent. As for the wine itself, I can only speak to their fruit‑infused options. First few things to know about Winery On The Gruene. It's located in Historic Gruene a stone's throw away form the Guadalupe River. They do $5 wine tastings (select four from their menu). And it's woman-owned and operated! Oh, and they have they're own parking lot; as many tourists and locals know, parking in this area is hard to find. They went and retrieved a manager upstairs who was also freaked out about whatever was in the back and proceeded to spray poison as well. The initial employee who was spraying poison came close to pouring us out next set of pours without washing her hands until I informed her to do so. Recall when I said I had reviews in my drafts? Ughs, this one is from 2018 (don't judge me). Winery on the Gruene is a small 'boutique' style winery that makes vino on the premise. There are a variety of vino's to sample at a reasonable price (4 tastings for only $4.00). If you know what you want and are a true vino drinker like me, you can 'go for it' and just order a glass (Vino Blanco in my case, $5.00 per glass; see my receipt). The vino selection here is decent and the customer service is even better. The only facet about this location that is not great is the lack of room inside when you go for a tasting. However, if you have time to come here and have a glass of vino while you sit outside and enjoy a nice spring day, you will not be sorry. Happy Drinking! read more

We went on a Saturday afternoon. A $7 tasting allows you to try 4 different wines of your choice. We went with Little Rose of Texas, Chilean Malbec (it's just a favorite), Strawberry Riesling, and Blueberry Shiraz. I wanted to try the Blueberry because I saw it was a bestseller. It was good but I preferred the Little Rose of Texas and took home a bottle of that one. The strawberry riesling was far too sweet for my partner and I but I'm not a riesling fan to begin with. We sat outside and we received good service. You keep your glasses for $2 each and extra pours are $1.75 which we got of Little Rose of Texas again. My husband and Mom decided to stop and do a wine tasting today $4 for 4 flavors which in my opinion is a steal. You could take the glass home for an extra $2 if you wanted which had their logo on the side. We've had a really hard time finding wine we like in Texas and I believe we finally did. They said that every flavor they tried was smooth, balanced, and the fruit flavors actually resembled the fruit they were supposed to be. They're both still talking about the lil cranberry flavor and the blackberry flavor. Crisp & refreshing were the words I heard coming out of their mouths multiple times. Prices for their bottles are well worth it at about $16 for the reds and $12 for the fruit flavors. They had a deal today where you got a discount if you purchased 3 or more bottles of wine so of course we had to splurge. Even being pregnant, the staff was super nice to me and included me even though I couldn't drink. If you're having a bridal party, etc. this is an ideal spot with great social distancing & a recently added BBQ Food Truck. Winery on the Gruene is located just up the hill from Guadalupe River about a block west of Gruene Hall. Great location, easy to find. Lots of room to sit inside or out. There is even space upstairs to sit or rent out for private parties. All the staff have always been amazing... Thank you! That is always one of the reasons to go back to any business. Winery on the Gruene is not a vineyard. Most grapes are not from Texas. Maybe not even any. That is my only complaint as I like to keep my wines local, although that is what works for these guys. They are not limited in their creations. They purchase grapes from all across the country to make their wines. They have a large selection on their menu, so you will find something you like. Winery on Gruene specializes in these sweet fruity wines, which is one of the reasons why my bestie LOVE them! My favorite is Blackberrry Merlot. Love this winery and surely helps to live just a mile away from it. I typically buy their wines in cases and yo ugly a very good deal that way. Highly recommend doing the tasting first to figure out what you like out of their selection. They certainly specialize in sweet wines and I really like the blueberry and sangria one and usually have one at home in case guests enjoy fruity and sweet. Out of traditional reds - Rosso Grande is hands down the best. And while I don't typically drink white wines, I have a chance to Gewurztraminer and I'm now a believer. It's flavorful but not too sweet. When in doubt ask their staff for recommendations, they are very helpful and accommodating. Friday we came in with family from out of town and as soon as we walked in the energy from the woman behind the bar was uncomfortable. She was extremely unpleasant. We did 3 wine tastings $7 each. 3 $2 glasses. One bottle of Chardonnay $14.95 I believe and our total ended up being $60 something dollars. Doesn't add up. But besides that she was awful. Rude. Snapped at my son who's 8 and yes he shouldn't have been touching things but she was nasty to him. Then my SIL was swirling her wine and the lady (brunette) said "we don't do that here just drink it". We were shocked. She slammed the pen and highlighter down everytime she checked something off our list we chose from and just looked angry and acted like she was bothered by us. Anyways we won't ever be back. This was a sweet little stop while visiting Gruene. For $7 you could try 4 wines. I like sweet, so the Summer Sangria, Peach Chardonnay were my favorites. Nice area outside with fans for the severe heat made it bearable. They also have an upstairs area, but we chose not to climb the stairs. For $2 more we have a souvenir glass to enjoy. We didn't buy wine but have looked online to order now since we regret not getting some of the Sangria! It is close enough to Gruene Hall and the Gristmill to enjoy the whole area!
