This place was amazing when it was open! Especially during the winter time when it snowed. Had so much room to sled down the mountain. So upset they closed it! Now it's harder to find an area to go sledding. It gets pretty packed. And you definitely need some good tires cause they don't clean the snow that much & it's very slushy and muddy. Your car gets really dirty. They sold hot chocolate. The view was amazing with all the trees around. They closed it down cause it gets pretty bad traffic, cause it's only a 2 way street but they can cut some trees down and make it bigger & have a waiting area. read more

We came up from Tucson to come sledding and much to our surprise it was closed! There was nothing listed on their website warning people that they were closed. The hotline number that was listed on the website kept ringing busy so we could not get any updates. It was one of the locals that informed us that they were definitely closed and why. For people that are traveling from so far away they need to do a better job of keeping their website up to date and maybe adding additional hotlines so when people call for updates they actually get one. read more

Headed there with my kids for some sledding over the holidays. The place itself is fantastic. Big hills, lots of space. Unfortunately, it's not organized at all. Kids are climbing up the hills in front of the sleds that are coming down and getting wiped out! There are marked "climb here" paths but no one watching to make sure people use them. There is one giant hill that is a blast to go down, but spectators congregate at the bottom of it!. At the bottom of this hill, sleds must be going 30 or so MPH. I watched sled after sled wipe out to avoid hitting onlookers standing at the bottom of the hill, many limping off injured. All and all, this place would be great if it had some staff to ensure everyone's safety but without it, go early or go in a snow storm when it's not too crowded. read more

This place is a mad house when there's a lot of people there! There's no real rhyme or reason on how it is all organized so make sure you are watching out for sledders when you are at the bottom. The sleds for sale there is $20 and flemsy. Totally usable for that day and maybe one or two other times but it is definitely not made to last. THere are port-a-potties so no fretting there. The people that work there are kind of rude. There were kids encroaching on their living quarters but there were no clear signs not to be there. Instead of saying it nicely, they were yelling at them, "THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY!! YOU NEED TO VACATE THIS AREA! YOU ARE TRESPASSING!" It is a nice place to go but no good way to figure out if they are at full capacity. They will turn people away when there's too many folks. I wish they did a better job at relaying to the public if they are full because it's a one way windy street getting up there. What a pain to get to the top and be turned down. Best way to get info is follow their FB page, I think. Bottom line, definitely a lot of fun but I think things can go south quick making everybody cranky if they end up turning you down or you get seriously hurt from an accident. Also, there are plenty of other places to play in the snow without paying money to get in. read more

We had a blast paying in this park. I know it is a little disorganized, but it is like a public park. You just pay for parking, so unless you want to pay for sledding, I don't know how it would make sense to staff it. My twins we going up and down the hills forever. Until my little girl got cold. Her bib was a little short, so she got wet. That girl grows like crazy. I had to take her to the car and change her into her warm clothes and we waited in the car for another 45 minutes because my little boy was not done. My hubby had to trick him into following him so we could leave. I can't wait to go back. We already bought larger snow pants for them as well as new gloves. I just have to get my sleds back, since we lend them away. read more

Unfortunately I didn't read reviews prior to trekking up there. Their website and hotline both said they were open "with a foot of fresh snow". I certainly received a snowing when we arrived at the road after a long drive to meet two disgruntled men waving people off with no explanation. After we were finally able to turn around and ask what was happening they rudely said they were closed and that "updating the site or hotline would not help". I wouldn't bother making the trip again. Too bad someone with some business sense doesn't compete and put these jokers out of business. read more

Had a blast playing all day with the kids!!! We will go back a few times before the season ends. My only advise is to not just park on the side of the road. You can't sled there. I suggest continue your drive until you find designated areas, you won't regret it. Ohhh and empty your bladder before you go, they only have a couple of porta potty's and they're disgusting (which ones aren't). read more

Sledding down the snowy hills was fun, but as more people came it seemed a bit unsafe. There is no way to brace yourself when you are going downhill and someone is trying to walk back up the hill. My husband started sliding down the hill when his sled took an unexpected detour, and he couldn't slow himself down fast enough to avoid crashing into a kid that was walking back up the hill. It would be good to have someone at the bottom of the hills to direct people to a specific area to go back up the hill after they sled down. read more

We waited in line for about 10 minutes and ended having to pay $20 to get in. We would have been fine with that if ALL the sledding hills were open. They only had the really small hills open and our kids were not happy. They should have warned us so we could decide! Do not go here! I was vacationing from California for 2 weeks, and my group decided to come here. It was posted online that admission was $10, but we were charged $15 instead! The hills for sledding were very dangerous, and kids had to climb up the sledding hills to get to the top, resulting in the children getting hit by sleds. We decided to get hot chocolate, and it tasted bland and watery! We ended up going to a place called Elk Ridge, and we had a much better time there. Don't waste a single penny on this place! read more

First time coming here and we had a blast! This is a great place to take the kids sledding. The staffs are wonderful, very helpful, and friendly. The only downside is driving towards the entrance. Traffic was horrible! Only one staff was at the entrance booth taking payments. I would recommend arriving earlier than 9:30AM. It did get a little chaotic after more people started arriving. By the time noon hits, the snow started melting and that's when they started closing the place. read more

A little hard (for us) to find, was super crowded on the long weekend with kids zinging all over crashing into one another and parents all shouting down at them from the tops of the hills. The slopes (sledding slopes) all face a long line of portable toilets which was less than pleasant. I was a little overwhelmed by the crowd but they barely cared.... The fact is that the kids had a blast, wooped and hollered and flung themselves down the hills in total glee. I am glad we bought our sleds in town and brought them because I did not see the on site place to buy them and that would have been disappointing. I also did not see any place to buy hot cocoa or other snacks that the website mentioned - definitely plan to bring your own. read more

Attenpted to go up there today, but by noon, it was closed. Instead going back to Flag, we found a place right off the road with a bunch of other families. People shared sleds and took turns going down the hills - we had a great time - just not at Wing Mountain. We would like to try to get there sometime, but I don't look forward to leaving my house at 5am just to get a spot. Might try finding a different spot. read more

Most of the negative reviews seem to be because people drove up from the Valley and the park was overcrowded or closed. I mean, it's kind of your fault too. Also, there's so many nearby places to go sledding, all you have to do is ask the people at the gas stations that sell sleds on Route 180 as you head up to Wing Mountain. We had a great time with our 2 1/2 year old and it was her first time sledding. Yes, it was a little crowded but all you have to do is go to the other side of the park. We had an entire area all to ourselves. Look, this place isn't perfect but you have to expect huge crowds and the possibility that there may not be much snow. read more

Hundreds of people recently attempted to go experience Wing Mountain over the holidays (12/24) only to find it closed with no update on the website or phone number. There was plenty of snow but the gate was closed with no explanation. Both the website and the phone number indicated that it was open. People parked alongside the road and walked into the park to attempt to sled...From those we talked to, people had travelled from all over and had to head either back home of the the hotels they had in Flagstaff with their disappointed children. I was one of those families and we ran into many many more families trying to turn around, find another sledding place, or find another activity at the hotel. The Hotel also was not aware of the closure. I see that the website is now updated with a closure due to lack of snow, but there was nothing noting the closure over the holidays. We will not be back as we do not want to drive up there and find it closed again. read more

This weekend was my families second time there. First time a few years ago, this place ok, little crowded but we managed around it to enjoy ourselves. This past weekend was horrible. We got there early; we were probably the 6 or 7th family there. The big hill was open, my son and husband went down on a double sled together. There was not enough snow at the bottom to cover the rocks where they rolled over and scratched their faces up very very bad. My son is only 8 half of his face and nose was badly scratched, my husband's as well. They had a first aid kit I was able to clean him up and calm him down. The hardest thing is seeing your little ones injured and in pain. I am smarter and will never make that mistake again. One thing to remember if you see rocks at the bottom, don't slide down. I got my little guy back to play in the snow; I didn't want him to fear it. I thank God it was not worse. I am not sharing this to bash Wing Mountain, but to make you aware of the danger. They should have had that hill closed, of course after our accident it did get closed, but it should not take that to have it closed. Parents be smart and watch your little ones, accidents happen so fast. That was the begging and pretty much the end of our long weekend in Flag. After the incident I was so sad for my husband and son. Now I am so angry it happened. I see his little face and it makes me so sad. Be safe! The staff there were very helpfull and nice. They did what they could, I do appreciate that. read more
