Valerie H.

Address is in St Charles, expected it to be in town as there was no indication otherwise. Wrong. It is 12 miles away on the extreme outskirts with nothing else around! Had I been expecting this I could have prepared, as it stands, I had to drive 15 minutes to get dinner after checking in. There were 2 young girls working the front desk & I was told upon checking in the reservation had been split into 2, so I would have to check out the next morning at 11 then check back in at 3, possibly to a new room, & I had to completely remove all of my belongings. Seriously? It is the SAME room & SAME person 2 nights in a row. Ridiculous. I was told that would be impossible to guarantee I got the same room but I could ask in the morning when the new staff came on. Sounds to me like she just didn't want to deal with it & it wasn't REALLY impossible since the morning crew apparently could make it happen. I informed her that I would not be staying a second night if I had to vacate the room for 4 hours with all of my luggage, & asked for the manager. Guess what? NO MANAGER ON SITE! I asked them to call him & was told "we can't do that." So stupid! I asked for contact information & they gave me the card for a different manager named Whitney. I went to my room for tonight (it was too late to cancel & get my free night put back) & called Whitney. Who answered the phone? The girl from the front desk! I was dumbfounded! I believe my first words into the phone were, "did you really just give me a manager's card to contact her and it rang the front desk when you told me neither one is here until TUESDAY?" Her response: "we can't help what number is on the card." Oh yes, you read that right- no manager on site until TUESDAY. It was SUNDAY! No wonder this place is so terrible! I informed her that I wanted a manager to contact me by 430 or I would be canceling my stay for the next night. Did I ever hear from one? NO! At 431 I called and canceled the day 2 reservation. I noticed the smell of mold when I entered my room, so I switched on the AC unit. To my chagrin, the smell got worse instead of better & seemed to be coming from the AC unit itself! I called back down to the front desk & asked to move to a different room b/c I was already getting a headache from the smell. She told me they had no other rooms to put me in (there were only 4 cars in the parking lot at the time, including mine). I insisted &, after much arguing, she finally agreed to move me & brought me a key to the new room. While I was waiting for her to bring up the new room key I went to the bathroom. I could hear every word of the conversation happening in the room next door through the walls. The new room had the HEAT turned on (it's summer) & smelled like burning dust- you know the smell you get when you turn the furnace on for the first time in the winter? That smell. Plus it was like 90 degrees in there. I decided to see if the smell went away after turning the AC back on. I switched it over, changed into my swimsuit, & went to the pool for a few hours while the room cooled off. The pool was "eh". There's an ok size outdoor pool with some wild kids in it so I stayed in the indoor pool. It WAS nice to have both. The indoor pool was very small & heated warm enough to be just tolerable. I can't say as much for the hot tub; it was WAY too hot to be able to stay in it for more than a minute or two. I had to get out and go back to the pool. The room the pool was in smelled musty but not moldy and the floor hadn't been cleaned for a long time- there was all kinds of hair and dirt caked near the wall at one end. I didn't walk around without my sandals on. Bleh. The pool area was also loud, with some kind of machine running in a closet area with the door open. I turned on my music on my phone to drown it out, volume all the way up to be able to hear music over the noise. Back in my room after chilling out in the pool I felt a little less frustrated b/c the smell was better (not gone, but much better) & it had cooled off some. The room itself was very large and the bed was comfy, that's about it for anything "good" though. The wifi here sucks, I couldn't get pics to upload or docs to download. It barely opened google. I called to ask about it and they said "yeah our wifi has been really slow today. You can use the public computer in the business center that is hard wired." Cell service is spotty inside too so I'm cut off from the world like it's 1922. I went to the business center to use the hard-wired public computers but those didn't connect to internet either. I went to ask them to check the connection and both young ladies on front desk duty were standing in the office, just inside the doorway. I did a double take when I realized they were in there giggling & MARKING THEIR HEIGHTS ON THE WALL like you do to measure the growth of your child! I took a picture of it. Side note- the Manager did call today & assured me he would address issues.

This was literally next to the bed-- its a night stand

checked into the hotel Wingate by Wyndham in St Charles Missouri on Friday , July 20,2018. The front desk employees were very friendly and helpful. It was nice to be greeted after a long drive by very nice people. I checked into room 320 and immediately opening the door I had to take a step back from the mildew mold smell coming from inside the room. The A/C unit connected to the wall literally had black mold and dust flying out of it. I shut it off and attempted to wipe it down. Dust was everywhere! Because the dusk was so thick on the end table located next to the bed I was able to write the word " Hi " in it. You can clearly see by the picture I was able to do that. How long Do you think it took for that much dust to accumulate? The vent in the bathroom was completely covered with dust. The dust was like hair just hanging down. There were dust piles in the corners of the room. And our fridge wasn't working the first night so we tried to pull the refrigerator out to replug and What was behind there was a fright fest. I just immediately started wiping it down, I wish I had stopped to take pictures of that!! It was almost impossible for me to sleep that night I ended up putting a shirt over my nose so I could try to breathe. The next morning I talk to the manager Jason Vinnedge Who didn't seem even in the slightest bit shocked to hear that the room was filthy. He matter-of-factly said that he could switch me to a different room. He said that he would make sure that it was in fact " better". Hours later after our trip to the city Museum we came back to switch rooms. Little did we know that are " new and improved room" was not that at all. Although the AC unit was better, the filth in that room did definitely not make it new and improved. My daughter Went to take a shower and immediately had to step out of the shower because there was tons of hair all on the shower walls see pictures. The stand for the TV was completely covered in dust. And the desk which had a lamp on it that cord as you could see the pictures it was completely filled with dust( the cord was in plain view) I called the front desk and asked Katie if she could come up to just take a look at the room and she was fairly surprised herself and was very apologetic. She told me that the manager Jason had left for the day -- I was just blown away that I received a " new and improved room'' but he didn't even doublecheck it. I had another rough night of sleeping ... matter fact all of us did. We were on a family vacation with my cousin , who was in the room next-door and her room was really no better. Equally as dirty and dusty. The next day was my check out day and I mentioned it to the girl behind the front desk Brittany who was extremely apologetic and I did show her the pictures and video footage and she was very shocked by them and said that she would call Jason and that they would take care of this for me. About an hour into my drive back she had left a message on my voicemail saying that they would comp me a night which was equivalency of $100 but then later in the week Jason called me back and said that because it was through Expedia that the most he could comp was $50. Although we did go through hotels.com so I'm not really sure what Expedia had something to do with that. I had to stay home from work on Monday because I was actually sick and exhausted from my " experience " there . I didn't start feeling better until almost Thursday. I would say that the staff at the front desk were the best part of the hotel and super nice both Katie and Brittany as well as the young woman who checked me in the first night but the housekeeping there needs a wake up call , a checklist which needs to include dusting, hair removal from shower walls, corners, shower vents etc. More time needs to be given to the staff in housekeeping to do a better job. And a walk through by management should be done on a regular basis( like every few days. I wish I had the ability to upload videos to yelp so you could really get a feel for this disgusting place.

I also had to have a company credit card shipped to the hotel and they had it waiting for me at the front desk. So bravo to the management and staff here! Thank you for making my chicken after a very long day so easy. I have a two queen room, with very comfortable beds. The room has a dresser, mini fridge, microwave coffee maker, hairdryer, and Desk for me to work at when I'm not in the office. There's a spacious closet and the bathroom is large and not cramped. The continental breakfast has everything you need or want and is included in your room price. And I love the social happy hour, the pool, the hot tub and gym are all great amenities. Their toiletries selection, snack and drinks selection are more affordable than some convenient stores. That saved me when I didn't have a car and realized I forgot several items. Saint Charles location is in the middle of its own little town and there are restaurants and stores all around it so you really don't even need a car. I was able to Uber to and from work and then find whatever I needed at the hotel or right around it

The staff were somewhat friendly. When i politely asked one of the ladies about coffee cups as they had it still out for serving. I felt like it was an inconvenience to her to restock. I get that it's New Year's Eve and they were busy with people hangout playing pool being loud. Our room itself was nice, clean, and perfect for the one night stay. We had a king bed. Their devote is very modern like. I like the calming colors they use throughout the building. I was bummed that we didn't get a good city view, but we will make sure to get that next time. They do have free WiFi that you can utilize for a weeks worth. The cable wouldn't work still. I did have to call guest services to see what they'd be able to do. They only suggested for us to unplug everything to reboot. After 3 tries it finally started to work. I do like how their checkout is at noon. Most hotels it's around 11. They have continental breakfast from 6:30-9:30. By time I went downstairs around 8:30 everything was picked over. I was surprised many were up already after nye celebrations. Overall, we had a decent stay. Just minor mishaps, but I'd stay again. Their coffee isn't the best, I was hoping Picasso 's would have been open. Shower was nice! I liked how the room had coat hooks for shorter people like myself. If it wasn't for the cable and some of the staff. I'd rate it a 5!

This place even has an indoor pool! The room of course is new, so it looks stunning and feels comfortable. We were in a first floor suite The only negative is that it was a handicap/ADA suite so when you take a shower, water really gets ALL over the bathroom. Everything seemed fine until the night of July 2, when I received a call after 9 PM from what appeared to be a personal number. The caller, who identified herself as a hotel employee or manager, informed me that due to a "maintenance issue" she didn't expect to be resolved in time, she needed to move us to a different room. She initially offered a King Suite, which I declined because we needed separate beds. She then said the only other option was a standard 2 Queen room, explaining that there were only four suites and the others had been booked "months ago." I couldn't verify that, but I distinctly remember seeing multiple suites available when I made my reservation. I can't prove it but the timing and explanation felt suspicious. To make matters worse, the call was clearly made from her home. In the background, people were shouting and a dog was barking loudly. She began yelling at them with the phone still at her mouth so I was essentially being shouted at. When I asked her to stop yelling into the phone, she launched into a personal rant about her family. Honestly, I didn't need or want to hear that. We discussed room options, and I reluctantly agreed to a ground floor 2 Queen room. She tried to frame it as a favor, saying I'd be saving money since the suite was more expensive. Of course, I already knew that, the suite had more space, an extra bathroom, and a separate sitting area, which is exactly why I booked it. She said she'd "discount" the new room to $150 base rate. After the call, I logged into the Best Western site to review the updated reservation. The new room didn't meet our needs; it lacked even a comfortable chair to relax in after a long drive. Just a couple of wooden chairs at a table. For a leisure trip, this downgrade felt like a deal-breaker, so I canceled the reservation. Out of curiosity, I checked the current rate for the same type of room she moved us to and it was listed at $136 base rate. So her "discounted" rate of $150 was actually more expensive than the standard rate I could've booked myself. That felt incredibly dishonest. At that point, I was glad I canceled. I no longer trusted the hotel or its staff. I'm disappointed we had to cancel our trip altogether; we could've found another hotel, but the experience left a bad taste in our mouths, and we've decided to stay home for the holiday instead.
