John Alden of the Wings To Fly hang-gliding school is class A pilot. He has decades of experience and his methods are tailored to each individual student. He spends a lot of time one on one if needed and has a great way of explaining things to students in a way they understand. I've learned to hang-glide with John several years ago. I have met other instructors, from Chicago and Chattanooga and a can make an informed comparison. John is the best! read more

Since childhood I've always dreamed of soaring like a bird. My dream was finally realized in my early 40's under John's fine tutelage. He is a one of kind instructor. I agree with everything Michal M said. When my son turns 14, John will be my #1 choice to train him. John also takes people up on tandem flights which allows them to get a taste of what hang gliding is all about. read more

Wings to Fly offers hang gliding and training in the Columbus area. Using a stationary winch towing system, you can learn to fly solo in a modern training glider staying just a few feet above level ground until you to feel comfortable flying to higher altitudes. When conditions permit, tandem flights on a wing designed for two will take you and an instructor 2,000 feet high for a bird's eye view of Ohio and an opportunity to pilot the glider. Most people will find hang gliding to be a very natural way to fly, and USHPA Certified instruction using proven methods will speed the learning process. With practice and at a fraction of the cost of other forms of aviation, you will be flying your own aircraft, climbing on the sun's energy, and staying aloft by virtue of your skill, patience, and persistence with the feel and sound of the air comforting your senses and giving you a new perspective on life. Meet the Business Owner: John A.

John Alden started flying light aircraft as an OSU ROTC student in 1970 and has been flying hang gliders for 41 years. His degrees in education and health and experience working with gymnasts have complimented his efforts working with hang glider students. Participating in clinics and competitions with the best HG pilots in the world has given John the perspective to spread the infectious nature of free flying.
